FASHION
BY DORCAS AKINTOYENowadays, print and pattern are becoming more popular in men’s fashion because they help add depth and personality to their style. Incorporating unique print and pattern designs into your wardrobe, whether it’s a stylish paisley tie, a floral shirt, or even a geometric pocket square, helps express the fact that you are ready to take risks and break away from the conventional style of dressing. In this article, we will show you ways you can incorporate print and pattern into your wardrobe.
5 Ways Men Can Wear Print And Pattern
1. UNDERSTAND THE BASICS
There are different types of prints and patterns, such as stripes, polka dots, geometric prints, and animal prints, among others, which is why it is very important for us to understand the characteristics and style of each type. Doing this will give you the adequate knowledge to incorporate them into your outfit. Incorporating floral or geometric prints into your outfit will help add a touch of creativity and modernity to your look, while stripes and plaids can be versatile and timeless.
2. START SMALL
If you are new to print and pattern, the best way to start is by incorporating them in your accessories: talking about your ties, pocket squares, socks, and even scarves. You can add visual interest to a solid-coloured suit using a striped tie or a floral pocket square. Do not forget that it is very important for your designs to complement the colour of your outfit. Also, you can get a basic yet stylish look by going for smaller-scale patterns.
3.
4. UPGRADE TO CLOTHING
You can start incorporating prints or patterns into your clothing, such as shirts, pants, and jackets, once you are sure that you are comfortable with colourful accessories. You can always pair prints with solid-coloured clothing to create a more cohesive look. For example, you can pair a plaid shirt with khaki pants or a floral shirt with jeans. The best way to get started is to experiment with different combinations to discover what suits your style best.
FASHION
TRY STATEMENT PIECES
If you feel the need to explore, you can always try statement pieces with bold prints and patterns. Some of the stylish choices available are statement shirts, blazers, or even a full suit in a unique print or pattern. One important thing to take note of when you are wearing a statement piece is that the print or pattern should take centre stage while the rest of your outfit should be left simple. Always remember to pay attention to the fit; this is very important for getting a polished look.
5. CONFIDENCE IS IMPORTANT
Owning your style is the best way to confidently wear prints and patterns. Embrace your unique sense of style, and don’t be afraid to explore. Confidence is the ultimate accessory you need to make any outfit look stylish. No matter your style preference, body shape, or even age, as long as you can wear your print and pattern with confidence, you will surely stand out in the crowd.
CONCLUSION
Print and pattern have become closet fundamentals that everyone should possess. By wearing prints, you can always look simple and unique. Whether botanical, creature, abstract, geometrical, or camouflage, the kind of print you choose doesn’t matter, as they all have the ability to take your style and looks to the next level.
Eid-el-Kabir Celebrations Ram Biryani Recipe
Eid-el-Kabir, also known as Eid al-Adha, is one of the most significant Islamic festivals celebrated worldwide. Like any important celebration, Eid-el-Kabir is marked by family gatherings, prayers, and sharing hearty meals. In celebration of such a significant festival, special meals are prepared for family and friends, and one of the most enjoyed dishes for this occasion is ram biryani. A flavourful dish that brings together tender ram meat and fragrant basmati rice, cooked with a medley of spices and herbs, ram biryani is bound to give your taste buds a pleasant experience.
Ingredients
For the Marinade
• 1 kg ram meat (cubed)
• 1 cup yogurt
• 2 tablespoons ginger-garlic paste
• 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
• 2 teaspoons chilli powder
• 2 teaspoons garam masala
• Salt to taste
For The Biryani
• 2 cups basmati rice
• 3 large onions (sliced thin)
• 2 tomatoes (chopped)
• 4 green chillies (slit)
• 1 cup fresh mint leaves
• 1 cup fresh cilantro (chopped)
• 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
• 2 bay leaves
• 4 cloves
• 4 green cardamoms
• 2-inch cinnamon stick
• 4 tablespoons ghee or oil
• 1 cup milk
• A pinch of saffron
• Salt to taste
Instructions
Marinate The Ram Meat
In a large bowl, combine the yoghurt, ginger-garlic paste, turmeric powder, chilli powder, garam masala, and salt. Add the cubed ram meat to the marinade, ensuring each piece is wellcoated. Cover the bowl and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, preferably overnight, for the best results.
Cook the Rice
Rinse the basmati rice under cold water until the water runs clear. Soak the rice in water for 30 minutes, then drain. In a large pot, bring water to a boil. Add
BY JOHNSON CHUKWUEKEthe soaked and drained rice and a pinch of salt, and cook until the rice is 70-80% cooked. The grains should still be firm. Drain the rice and set aside.
Prepare The Biryani Base
In a heavy-bottomed pot or a large pan, heat the ghee or oil. Add the sliced onions and fry until golden brown. Remove half of the fried onions and set aside for garnishing.
To the remaining onions in the pot, add cumin seeds, bay leaves, cloves, green cardamoms, and cinnamon sticks. Sauté for a minute until fragrant. Stir in the chopped tomatoes and slit the green chillies. Cook until the tomatoes soften, and the oil begins to separate from the mixture. Add the marinated ram meat to the pot. Cook on medium heat until the meat is tender and the masala is well-cooked. This may take around 3040 minutes.
Layer The Biryani
In the same pot with the cooked meat, spread half of the partially cooked rice over the meat.
Sprinkle half of the chopped mint, cilantro, and the reserved fried onions over the rice.
Add the remaining rice on top, followed by the rest of the mint, cilantro, and fried onions.
Warm the milk slightly and add a pinch of saffron. Pour this saffron milk over the rice layers.
Final Cooking
Cover the pot tightly with a lid. You can use aluminum foil to seal the edges to trap the steam inside.
Place the pot on low heat and cook for 20-25 minutes. This slow cooking process (known as “dum”) allows the flavours to meld together and the rice to finish cooking perfectly.
Once done, let the biryani rest for 10 minutes before opening the lid.
Serve
Gently fluff the biryani with a fork to mix the layers. Serve hot, garnished with extra mint leaves and fried onions. Pair with raita (yoghurt sauce) and a side salad for a complete meal.
During Eid-el-Kabir, ram biryani is seen as more than just a dish. It’s a way of bringing the celebration of flavours and tradition to life by bringing family and friends together and sharing a delectable meal. Preparing this recipe for Eid-elKabir is a wonderful way to honour the spirit of the festival, so go ahead and enjoy your delectable biryani and make your Eid celebrations truly special.

VITAMIN C TO YOUR SKINCARE ROUTINE 5 REASONS WHY YOU SHOULD ADD
BY DORCAS AKINTOYEThanks to its various skin-benefiting properties, vitamin C is a potent antioxidant that is now a mainstay in many skincare products. The consensus among dermatologists and skincare specialists is that adding vitamin C to your daily regimen can help prevent symptoms of ageing, shield your skin from sun exposure, lower your chance of long-term damage, and enhance the overall texture and shine of your skin. This article will show you five important reasons to incorporate vitamin C into your skincare routine.
(1) ANTIOXIDANT PROPERTIES
Environmental aggressors that continuously destroy our skin, such as pollution and UV rays, produce dangerous free radicals. These unstable chemicals damage skin cells, hastening the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. As a powerful antioxidant, vitamin C saves the day by eliminating these free radicals before they can do any damage.
(2) COLLAGEN SYNTHESIS
As we age, our skin gradually loses its ability to produce collagen, a protein that firms and plumps it. Vitamin C is impossible to exaggerate in its importance for collagen formation. By increasing skin elasticity and firmness and preventing wrinkles and drooping, vitamin C makes you look younger.
(3) BRIGHTENING EFFECTS
Melanin is the pigment that determines skin colour, and vitamin C provides a solution by controlling its production. By inhibiting excess maintenance, it helps reduce hyperpigmentation and balance out skin tone. Furthermore, it could aid in minimising the visibility of dark circles around the eyes, thereby unveiling a more balanced and glowing complexion.
(4) ANTIINFLAMMATORY PROPERTIES
Vitamin C’s benefits go beyond its ability to neutralise free radicals. Additionally, its anti-inflammatory qualities help people with sensitive or inflamed skin. Since it lowers inflammation and redness, vitamin C helps create a more tranquil, smoother complexion.
(5) SUN DAMAGE PROTECTION
The antioxidant qualities of vitamin C can work alongside sunscreen to offer further defence against UV-induced free radicals. It doesn’t, however, take the place of sunscreen. To protect your skin from the damaging effects of the sun, always wear SPF.
CONCLUSION
Incorporating vitamin C into your regular skincare regimen can do much for your skin. This potent antioxidant is a must-have for healthy, glowing skin and is suitable for all skin types. Its benefits include brightening and shielding your complexion from the sun and environmental irritants.
MASTERING TIME MANAGEMENT AS A FATHER
BY JOHNSON CHUKWUEKEBeing a father is an experience that comes with different emotions and rewards. It can be both sweet and bitter, fulfilling and draining; it is something you wake up to every morning wanting to give your best. The role of a father requires effective time management to balance work, family, and personal life. With the right plan and approach, fathers can ensure they are present for their children, successful in their careers, and still have time for themselves. Here are some tips and strategies to help fathers master time management.
Creating a Schedule
One vital way to succeed is by creating a plan. When it comes to balance as a father, achieving that balance is your success. Therefore, make your schedule and goals, prioritise according to timing, and use planners or digital calendars to map out your activities. One thing to keep in mind is that you need to set realistic goals, too, both shortterm and long-term goals.
Share Responsibilities
As the head of the home, it’s your duty to ensure the home runs smoothly. This means everyone has to do their part and be a well-oiled machine to get things done around the house. Share household duties with your partner and assign ageappropriate chores to your children, as these activities will help them physically and teach them about responsibilities.
Creating Boundaries
There is time for everything, and with your family involved, you must create boundaries at work. This includes not bringing work home to spend time with your family. In order to make sure of this, do well to finish up any assigned task you may have before work hours are over, and also know the right time to say “No”.
Involve Your Family
This involves making time to bond with your family by planning regular activities that all members of the family can enjoy. Activities like picnics and time at the beach create lasting memories when done together. Also, do well to communicate effectively with your partner and kids. Share things about you, and also listen when they share things about themselves.
Reflect And Adjust
After a day of carrying out your duties, sit back at night and reflect on how your day went and what things could have been done better. There’s always room for improvement, even in the plans you have already made, and you can use a little tweaking occasionally to make things run smoothly. It’s all about being adaptable and finding ways to improve things.
The best thing about being disciplined about managing your time is that you get to set a good example for your children. They see just how you go about making time for them, and it makes them pick up a thing or two from you.

6 Red Flags You Should Never Overlook IN A RELATIONSHIP
BY DORCAS AKINTOYENeglecting our partner’s less-than-perfect traits is something we all do when we genuinely want a romantic relationship to work. You may find yourself defending their inappropriate actions or completely ignoring warning signs that they might not be a good, caring long-term partner. However, if you ignore any of these warning signs, it could endanger you in the future. In this article, we will share some of the less obvious red flags that people in relationships should pay more attention to.
1. LOVE BOMBING
Love bombing is one of the ways people use to gain control over a new relationship quickly, and this behaviour is more manipulative than romantic. When a new partner asks for a commitment practically right away after you’ve met, that’s one of the most blatant indications of love bombing. Before the target even recognises what is happening, love bombing can escalate into control and manipulation. Even after a single date or a brief acquaintance, love bombers want you to feel like you are always in their thoughts and on their mind. This manifests itself most frequently as constant communication through emails, social media posts, conversations, or texts. They often disrespect personal space as well. You can feel under pressure to do things that make you uncomfortable, or they may want you to abandon everything for them. It feels great to be the target of someone’s love, attention, and desire at first, so people often overlook warning signs like that, but it’s a severe red flag that could lead to a disaster.
2. BADMOUTHING THEIR EXES
A warning sign that your spouse hasn’t thought critically about how their actions affected the breakdown of their past relationships is if they complain negatively about all of their ex-partners. Nobody’s actions alone cause a relationship to terminate, so if your spouse acts like a victim of their ex-partners, they will probably play the victim in their relationship with you eventually.
3. REFUSING TO MAKE AN EFFORT TO SPEND TIME WITH YOUR FRIENDS OR FAMILY
One red flag people tend to overlook is when you are always making excuses for why your partner is never free to attend events and social functions in your social, family, and professional life. If your partner is guilty of this, you both might need to have an honest conversation about it.
4. HAVING ISSUES WITH APOLOGISING
One sign of maturity is being able to apologise. It shows how accountable we are and how well we can admit our mistakes. Having a partner who finds it hard to apologise is a red flag that shouldn’t be overlooked. Ultimately, your relationship will suffer if you are the only one owning up to mistakes.
5. WEIRDLY POSSESSIVE AND OBSESSIVE WITH THEIR PHONE
There is a problem in the relationship if your partner spends all of their time with their phone or other devices. A partner who exhibits excessive phone possessiveness is a more subdued reason for worry. They may have something to hide if, for instance, you ask to borrow their phone in case yours runs out of battery power, and they refuse to give it to you without first seeing the screen.
6. REFUSING TO RESPECT YOUR BOUNDARIES
Do you and your significant other feel respected in terms of time, physical space, and relationships? Do you feel uncomfortable with sexual matters in the relationship? Does your relationship make you inconsistent with work or disapprove of friends and family? Early in a relationship, many people attribute boundary breaches to passion; nevertheless, persistent overstepping can indicate a disrespectful trend. Set your limits and the extent to which you are willing to compromise early on, and then keep to it. Violations that occur frequently are not good.
CONCLUSION
While not all the items on this list are absolute deal-breakers, they are worth considering and discussing with your partner. Don’t ignore relationship red flags and hope they go away on their own. Instead, take action. Asking yourself why it affects you, expressing your worries to your spouse, and deciding whether to work through it or end the relationship are all effective ways to confront it head-on.

Bad Boys: Ride or Die
BadBoys: Ride or Die, as a “more of the same” companion to 2020’s Bad Boys for Life, has proven that this is a franchise determined to age gracefully. As much as a series in which Will Smith and Martin Lawrence play Miami detectives huffing the red, white, and blue fumes of police power actually can, I suppose.
Truthfully, Ride or Die has less to say about the state of masculinity, action cinema, and Smith’s onscreen legacy than it does about Warner Bros’s embarrassing decision to shelve its directors Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah’s take on DC’s Batgirl for an easy tax write-down. A little self-awareness goes a long way, and, under the duo’s guidance, the Bad Boys movies have comfortably reached an equilibrium between parody and nostalgic sentiment. A punch-up in an art gallery, a helicopter pan of the city, and a shot of Lawrence drooling over a day-old convenience store hot dog all yearn to achieve the same chaos as Michael Bay’s original instalments, released in 1995 and 2003, respectively.
It feels a little presumptive to set them up here as Bay’s direct successors, but Adil & Bilall (as they’re usually credited) have developed their own, borderline whimsical take on allhands-on-deck action cinema that puts them at a healthy cut above Hollywood’s usual stock. Every group shot – from a wedding toast to the reintroduction of the previous film’s squad of young hotties (minus Charles Melton, who is off busy getting robbed of an Oscar nomination for May
December) – is deemed worthy of the franchise’s trademark 360° camera spin. At different points, we get to watch the action from the perspective of both a gun and a military drone.
The duo, who also headed up the previous film, have been handed a largely sterile script – one that’s part-sitcom, as Mike Lowrey (Smith) keeps his buddy Marcus Burnett’s (Lawrence) hand out of the snack drawer after he suffers a massive heart attack, and part conspiracy, as they work to clear the name of their deceased mentor (Joe Pantoliano’s Captain Conrad Howard), after he’s framed by the film’s mysterious villain.
Marcus’s heart attack is depicted as a lyrical submergence into the depths of the ocean, in which his mind revisits the entire Bad Boys series, before bleeding into a hyperactive montage of stock nature footage and dilating irises. It’s weird. But it provides a much-needed justification for why Chris Bremner and Will Beall’s script suddenly gives Marcus religious delusions that cause him to deliberately walk into traffic.
You can guess what happens next when Mike and Marcus are forced to team up with the last film’s villain, Mike’s long-lost son Armando (Jacob Scipio). Once the bad guy headquarters are revealed to be an abandoned amusement park, home to a gigantic albino alligator named Duke, you can guess who his next meal will be.
But Smith and Lawrence are happy to chip a corner off their tough guy credentials so they can play the goofball husbands to their successful, extremely tolerant wives (Tasha Smith and Melanie Liburd) and help water down the fact they’re still cops with an unshakeable infatuation with extrajudicial force. Bad Boys: Ride or Die has learned a few valuable lessons from the Fast & Furious franchise – dumb and loud, executed with the right enthusiasm, can feel like a warm hug.
One of the most fundamentally good things about Fallout, the television edition, is that it’s not content to simply be a fawning retread of any one of the various games. The game series, which began in 1997, is simply too expansive for that to work (“Thou shalt always get sidetracked by bullshit,” as one character puts it). Creators Geneva Robertson-Dworet and Graham Wagner, along with executive producers Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy, instead reconfigure the hallmarks of the games developed by Bethesda to mutate it into its own distinct entity, turning gameplay into entertainingly tense dramatic beats.
This take on Fallout follows the painfully naive Lucy MacLean (Ella Purnell) as she leaves her subterranean Vault and heads into future Los Angeles, postnuclear fallout. The tone-setting first three episodes are directed by Nolan, no stranger to future dystopias, and Fallout is maybe his funniest, and scariest, take on the end of the world yet. His sci-fi series Person Of Interest saw the AI singularity beginning a slow creep to apocalypse; his take on Westworld was, in part, about an end to bodily autonomy. Fallout is more literal: the series opens with a moment full of terrifying finality. A title card “THE END” drops not long before the atomic bombs do — and so the show begins.
The pilot episode is a little belaboured with set-up, launching Lucy’s journey and bouncing between character introductions. It picks up, thankfully, with the second, enabled by a great cast — especially Walton Goggins, playing The Ghoul with nuclear-grade charm. Like The Man In Black from Westworld, he’s a man made cruel by circumstance (and, unlike The Man In Black, mutated by radiation), with a lot of mileage found in examining him pre-apocalypse, too.
Lucy herself starts as a blank slate — just as the games compel you to steer the protagonist’s morality through role-playing, Purnell plays her with an undercurrent of strangeness and dissatisfaction, which makes Lucy feel like she could tip in any direction.
The world built upon this devastation is compellingly awful, with gruesome creature design and lovely (so to speak) sets built from an assortment of scrap, lifting the games’ combination of mid-century retro-futurism with Mad Max-esque post-apocalyptic Western tropes, as well as its catchy soundtrack of easy listening and classic country music. The action gets pretty nasty, and it doesn’t take long for forks to go into eyes, for legs and heads to be turned into mulch. All of that awfulness accumulates into some compelling, if not particularly subtle, satire about the cult of American imperialism and capitalism (at one point staging a board meeting like the Dr. Strangelove war room).
Not all of it holds together, but in its best moments the show underlines the game’s themes, poking at the ludicrousness of conservative doctrines when the empire has already crumbled. The Vault satirises
nuclear-family mundanity, relocated underground in a hermetically sealed suburbia; the Brotherhood Of Steel’s cool exosuits are a spin on cultish feudalism. Ultimately, Fallout is playing not just with the iconography but also the power fantasy of the games — of one person deciding the fate of the world. Fallout expands on the big ideas of the games, making it an adaptation worth watching both for fans and those unfamiliar. It’s an equal parts funny and nightmarish show that, like its protagonist, isn’t content to live inside a projection of the past.
