Planning for Rehab: Tips and Guidelines. Rehabilitation, re’ha·bil’i·ta’tion n.
A medical specialty concerned with treating disabling disorders and injuries by physical means When you are looking for short term rehabilitation for yourself or a loved one, there are a number of things to consider. Here are some of the more important things to look for when searching for the right place: 1) Reputation: There are many facilities with stellar reputations for providing great care and good results. While you should not base your decision solely on this status, it is something to consider. And a personal referral, a recommendation from a friend or family member is also a reliable source.

4) Location, Location, Location: Successful rehab is much more likely if friends and family are able to visit frequently to provide support and receive training as needed. Choosing a quality location as close to home as possible will positively impact your rehabilitation. 5) Staff: When touring a facility, talk to some of the staff–nurses, therapists, social workers etc. Ask questions and get a feel for the people who work there. A caring, dedicated, friendly staff will work hard to make your rehab successful.

Happy Ending your New Beginning Whether you need personal care or short-term rehab care, our caring and compassionate staff focuses on enhancing your independence. Call Meghan at 272-2222 or email mstabley@foxdalevillage. org to learn more.
Take time to choose the right rehab facility for you whether you are recovering from a stroke or from a hip replacement. Your choice of rehab is as important as your choice of a doctor.
2) Facility Tour and Equipment Available: If you are able, take an unannounced tour of the places you are considering. Get a feel for staff, physical surroundings and the atmosphere. Does it have the equipment you will need for rehab? 3) Is the program age-appropriate? Rehab for an 80 year old with a broken hip should be a little less intense and different than rehab for a 30 year old with a broken hip.
With our expansion complete, we are welcoming new residents directly into healthcare.

Calling All Teachers!!! ensure that your immune system is functioning properly. In addition, we can suggest nutritional supplements to recharge your immunity and optimize your health.
It is that time of the year again. It is officially Fall. Leaves are falling, kids are back in school, and the cool air is setting in. Along with this, our immune systems start working in overdrive. If you are a teacher, you know that fall and winter often bring kids with sinus congestion, runny noses, coughing, sore throats, and fevers into the classroom. Bacteria and germs often spread quickly this time of the year. The Center for Disease Control estimates that teachers miss more than 5 days each year due to illness. Don’t you think it is time to boost up your immune system before you get a cold? Prevention is the key, and we can help!
Coming from a family of teachers, we know that educating a classroom of 25+ students can be very stressful. Constant stress can affect your ability to fight infection, cause headaches, and decrease your energy. Let us help you! The Top10 Reasons
business owners advertise in The Women’s Journals!
My wish for you during the upcoming holidays is one of love and giving.
1. Their owners want to grow their business. 2. Their company isn't meeting or exceeding its goals. 3. Their competition has a better market share. 4. Their margins have been slipping. 5. They need more visibility in the marketplace. 6. They need a constant supply of new customers, clients or patients. 7. They desire to be thought of as the EXPERT in their field. 8. They realize that women buy differently – women like to be educated before they buy. 9. They realize that 85% of all buying decisions are made by women. 10. It works!!
This is the season of giving… so I suggest you GIVE of yourself. There are many ways to do that. It isn’t always a pretty boxed gift…sometimes it’s a hug or a few minutes of your time sitting and listening to someone else. Taking an elderly person out for lunch or babysitting for a single mom who doesn’t get time to herself is another option. I’m sure you can think of many other ways to give of yourself. Put down the Candy Crush and think of someone who can use a special gift – a gift of your time. We in Central PA, America are rich in so many ways…and we can be richer with our friends by giving them a present of ourselves.

I watched a “You Tube” the other day…It was called LandFillHarmonic because in this one community they make instruments made out of trash and have created an orchestra of young people. It’s a slum built on a landfill and yet wonderful sounds come from their efforts. One girl said, “My life would be worthless without music.” Can you imagine? I’m guessing that those people are giving of themselves.

I would like to take this opportunity and say THANK YOU to our readers and our contributors. It’s music to my ears and a special gift from you when I hear stories about how one of our journal stories helped someone make a new decision or take a new path. That’s awesome and I’m thankful women continue to give and receive those ‘gifts’ that help them grow both professionally and personally.

Finances
It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year By Judy Loy, ChFC® and CEO of Nestlerode & Loy, Inc.
Given the rising cost of higher education, if you would prefer to save more for college, 529 Savings Plans have become very popular. 529 plans permit an owner to retain control of the assets inside the plan and name the beneficiary for the account which is usually the future college student. The owner can even change the beneficiary within the same family. The contribution limitations are limited to the annual gift amount, which is $14,000.
As I write this, it is the beginning of October and the leaves are changing color. Tomorrow, the forecast calls for 80 degree weather. Even as early as this, before Halloween or Thanksgiving, I spotted Christmas items at Macy’s last week. Given that this article will be published in November and December in the ‘heat’ of the holiday season, I am going to concentrate on the gifts that keep on giving.
If your children are grown, there are other opportunities to assist them. You can open or contribute to a Roth IRA or traditional IRA in the name of a child. Since your children may be financially busy saving for a house, paying for college or a new car, they may be unable to max out their retirement. Your children not only get the power of your gift later in retirement, but they may also get a tax deduction on an IRA contribution.
I know many children that have too much ‘stuff.’ The toys overflow the house and some sit idle after Christmas morning. My suggestion is to cool it with the toys. No, I am not suggesting becoming Scrooge. I am suggesting that you gift something that will be worth more as your children grow older rather than a toy that may be left behind rather quickly. Split your gift amount between the here and now and their future. The opportunity to add money to a child’s account once a year or more (birthdays, Christmas, etc.) can pay large dividends. Forgo some of the ‘stuff’ and invest for their college, future home or wedding instead.
Many accounts allow for multiple donors to contribute to the same account. Grandma, Uncle and Dad can all contribute to the same account and make it a family holiday tradition. There are many pros, cons and restrictions to investing for a minor or an adult child. Consult with a financial advisor to find the best fit for you and your whole family.
Investing for a child when they are young will also teach a powerful lesson in priorities. Minors follow your example, so while providing them with a brighter future, you are also illustrating that investing and saving for the future is a priority.
Judy Loy, ChFC®, is a Registered Investment Advisor and CEO at Nestlerode & Loy Investment Advisors, State College, Pa. To schedule Ad for the May/June 2013 issue of WJ to go on the page with Judy’s article. your FREE initial consultation or for more information, call Judy at Prepared by Janet Chambers, Beacon Marketing Solutions 814-238-6249 or email her at jloy@nestlerode.com janet@callbeacon.com 814-643-3385
Gifting to a minor can be done through a Uniform Gift to Minor’s Account (UGMA). An adult (not necessarily the donor) must be named the custodian on this account and will retain investing authority and oversee account use for the child until the minor reaches the age of majority, which is age 21 in Pennsylvania. The downside is that the money is used at the “child’s” discretion once they reach the age of 21 and take over the account.
Live for Today. Plan for Tomorrow. Do you know what your income could be when you retire? Call Judy Loy, ChFC® for a complimentary review of your financial situation: 814.238.6249
If the child is likely to go to a private school, there is another good option. A Coverdell Education Savings Account (ESA) can be used for qualified expenses for elementary, secondary or higher education school expenses. The maximum annual contribution is $2,000 and the ability to contribute is limited by the parents’ adjusted gross income (AGI).

Does Your Dental Insurance Only
Give You $1000.00 a Year to Use?
Nicole Carnicella DMD, MAGD
Dental Insurance has not kept up with inflation. When dental insurance was implemented as a medical insurance rider in 1952, guess what, the allowance was $1000.00. With inflation, you should be entitled to $15,000.00 a year. Until employees/patients take a stand with their HR departments and force those HR representatives to stand up to insurance companies, things won’t change.

Swap & Shop For Previous Brides & Brides To Be
Come to the only event around that gives previous brides a chance to sell their gently used items....and “Brides to Be” a chance to purchase unique items at very deep discounts!! Get advice from brides, seek out tips and get some ideas for your special day!
BRIDAL VENDOR QUESTIONS:
Hoag’s Catering and Celebration Hall 2280 Commercial Boulevard State College, PA 16801
Why is there a $25 table fee for brides to sell their items? As with all events, there is always a price associated to the organizer to set up the event. We have worked with Celebration Hall to keep the cost to bare minimum. The $25 provides you with a 6ft rectangular table which will be set up for you with linens. You can decorate your table, your area any which you want! Keep in mind that your goal is to not only recoup the $25 you invested into this event but to make some money! If you know your items are good qualilty items, in almost perfect condition, you should have no problem getting the return on your investment...plus some!
Sunday, November 10, 2013 from 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM Where can I contact the organizer with any questions?
What can/can’t I bring to the event?
You can reach us at 814.308.8512 or the best way- by email: bridalswapandshop@gmail.com
This event is designed specifically towards the wedding market. Anything you used for your ceremony, reception, rehersal...anything purchased for your wedding/wedding events is welcome. You should be very conscience of the items you bring and the condition they are in! If you are renting a table and selling wedding items you may also try to sell your wedding gown. Items that are not wedding related, wedding themed or irrelevant to weddings (i.e. shampoo, laptops, car chargers, toothbrushes, jeans, shorts, etc.) will not be permitted. Organizer of the event has the right to remove table from the event and ask that all items are removed from event.
Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event? Yes. We expect a very large turnout for this event and have no way of accessing the tickets purchased online- so please make sure you bring your ticket and/or and email stating that your ticket was purchased.
What is the refund policy? Sorry, but there are no refunds on tickets or items purchased, all sales are final.
What if I only want to try to sell my wedding gown? Can I? Yes! This will be listed under the Bridal Gown Consignment section. If you would like for us to try to sell your gown- you will need to drop your gown off at Diamonds & Lace Bridal starting Thursday Nov. 7 until 5pm and by Saturday Nov. 9 at 5pm. Gowns must be clearly tagged with your name, designer, size, asking price, color, phone and email. You will be required to fill out a disclaimer when dropping off your gown. No gowns will be excepted prior to Nov. 7th. If we are able to consign your dress, The Bridal Swap charges 20% of what your gown sold for. And you keep 80% of the sales! This is a very inexpensive way to consign your gown! Most consignments take much much more in commission!
HOW DO I GET TICKETS?
Order tickets via Eventbrite or at Diamonds & Lace Bridal 908 Pike Street State College, and via phone at 814.308.8512 http://thebridalswapandshop-efbevent.eventbrite.com Tickets are $10.00/per personTicket costs include a reusable tote for your swap shopping needs, and coupons from local area wedding vendors.
How should I price my items that I have to sell? Look at it this way. The items you have to sell have been used. Though they may have only been used once...they still have been. So regardless that you paid full retail...when the item was new....you shouldn’t expect to receive the full retail price back. Unless you can state that it is NEW WITH TAGS. To start, you should at least start with marking them half for what you paid for them. You want the “Brides to Be” to feel encouraged to buy from you because of your qualilty item and your price. As the day goes on and you feel like you want to offer deeper discounts...go for it!! It’s your table with your items!! You’re in control! Just don’t overprice items that brides to be can get somewhere else for the same price.

SUSQUEHANNA HEALTH OFFERS A LESS INVASIVE OPTION FOR GYNECOLOGIC SURGERY A working mother of two children, Lynne Force, 41, of Salladasburg, is always on the go. When her monthly periods became so painful that she sometimes felt like crawling under her desk at work, the surgical technologist went to Dr. Angela Huggler at Susquehanna Health OB/GYN. Lynne’s condition was caused by scarring resulting from a cone biopsy, a test she had to check for cancerous cells on her cervix. The scarring at the opening of her uterus made it contract like she was in labor. Dr. Huggler recommended a hysterectomy to remove Lynne’s cervix and uterus. The impact of this complex surgery would be minimized with the assistance of robotic technology through Susquehanna Health’s new da Vinci® Surgical System. Lynne has some experience with traditional open abdominal surgery—that’s how her appendix was removed, and she delivered one of her children by Cesarean section. Each open procedure took about six weeks for recovery and a long incision that needed to be guarded against infection. Recalling the pain and lack of energy and appetite that dragged on for several weeks following those surgeries, Lynne opted for the robotic assisted procedure.

laparoscopic surgery. From a console just a few feet away, the surgeon manipulates robotic hands to maneuver the surgical tools and perform the procedure with great precision. The platform also displays 3-D images of the surgical site that can be magnified up to 15 times and rotated to any angle. The technology has radically changed very delicate, complex gynecologic surgeries including hysterectomy and oophrectomy (removal of the ovaries). It can also be used for removal of ovarian cysts and removal of fibroids from the uterine wall.
“I have heard a little about it [robotic assisted surgery], and I thought it was great. I knew it would get me back to work sooner,” explains Lynne.
Dr. Huggler says the visualization combined with the control and dexterity afforded by the robotic instruments enables surgeons to be very precise and avoid other delicate internal structures like muscles and nerves. Following surgery, patients have less internal and external scarring, less pain and can generally recover more quickly.
An alternative to both traditional open and conventional laparoscopic surgery, robotic-assisted surgery became available at Susquehanna Health in May 2013. A microscopic camera and surgical tools are inserted through three tiny incisions in the same manner as
“Years ago, women could be hospitalized three days before a hysterectomy and remain for as many as three to five days following the procedure,” explains Dr. Huggler. “Today women arrive on the day of surgery and can be discharged the same day. Some of my patients
Lynne was back on the job just two weeks after her surgery. She is pleased with her results and no longer experiences monthly pain and bleeding. She says the preparation and post-operative recovery were much like her other surgeries, but she noticed a difference in her overall recovery right away. “This procedure was definitely less painful, and I bounced back a lot quicker with my appetite and my activity,” says Lynne. “Dr. Huggler is very experienced and very talented. The whole robotics team was just wonderful.”
Patient advantages of robotic assisted surgeries: • Significantly smaller incisions • Less risk of infection and other complications • Less blood loss/need for transfusions • G reater ability to work around nerves,
blood vessels, adhesions and other internal structures • L ess scarring, including internal scars that can create future problems • Less pain • Shorter recovery/quicker return to work Susquehanna Health now offers robotic assisted surgery for gynecologic, urologic and cardiothoracic surgery. Permantent MakeUp ~ Tatoo Removal ~ Options After Breast Surgery
Want to Save Time and Money?
This procedure requires two sessions thirty days apart. We are able to closely match the areola of a single mastectomy or able to create areolas when a double mastectomy is necessary. Today many women choose to have nipple/areola tattooing because it is less invasive than tissue grafting, heals quickly and looks most natural when applied by an expert. Soft tissue can be unpredictable and so the breast mounds and/or scars can be constant reminders of cancer. Areola Restoration can create a beautiful, symmetrical and naturallooking nipple-areola complex. Clients feel that Areola Tattooing provides the esthetic "finishing touch" after breast surgery that helps them to focus on "living" giving them a renewed sense of confidence and esteem.
What Permantent Makeup pigment composed of? Pigments are made of Iron Oxide base colorants. These colorants have been used in the cosmetic industry for years and are found in candy, confectionary pills. How is Permanent makeup performed? Sterilized, disposable needles are used to implant desire color or remove color into the dermis layer of the skin. With Permanent Makeup re-enhancements or Eyebrow maintenance may be desired for some people (510 years). Depending on the bodys ability to hold pigment.

That Just Does Not Make Sense Anymore?
EliminInk Tattoo Removal is a unique system utilizing the latest binding technology for safe removal of unwanted tattoos. There are numerous reasons for the use of EliminInk in removing Tattoos, such as permanent makeup corrections, unwanted name, gang related tattoos, tattoo markings for radiation, tattoo redesign, or impulsive decisions. These are only a few reasons. EliminInk is designed to bond with the original tattoo ink/pigment, and then draw the ink to the surface. DermRenu, a scar inhibitor which is built into the ElininInk solution (as well as being a stand-alone product that is used as part of the after-care program) is designed to minimize or prevent scarring. How it works and will it be painful? The Eliminink Tattoo Removal System works much like the original tattooing process. The EliminInk solution is applied using a tattoo over procedure. However, instead of applying ink or pigment this time, EliminInks specially formulated solution bond with the original tattoo ink, and then draws the ink to the skin's surface. You will have some pain associated with this procedure, no more than when you got the tattoo, so if removing a tattoo is what you want then you will have to endure it.

Many news media are focused on new business models, profitability, and shareholders’ value. But in this quest for innovation and continuity, we might overlook one of the major assets of the news media: it’s advertisers’ value. In tough economic times, with a critical look at diminishing advertising budgets, educational print ads can still deliver excellent return on investment (ROI).

I Didn’t Think it was Possible! My name is Jackie. I live in State College, Pennsylvania and I’m a professor at a University. I learned about Blair Plastic Surgery from a friend because I wanted to take care of my skin. Before this, I never, ever did anything; didn’t use skin creams or even wash my face half the time. The (skin care) staff helped me as they taught me about my skin and the products I needed to use. I also had a series of three Matrix weekend peels done with Dr. Fanny. They were incredible and really improved my skin. It (Matrix) ended up being a very easy procedure. I’ve learned some very good practices and now I get microdermabrasions every 6 weeks. This really maintains my skin in good condition.
at a wedding who said how good I looked and how rested I looked so I confided in her. She was shocked, “I would have never dreamed! It looks so natural.” So it was still me, but it was a less tired looking me. I’m 66 years old and I feel great! It’s a huge difference for me when I look in the mirror, but it’s also a natural look and I’m so happy about that. I didn’t think it was possible to look this much better! I didn’t really want to look young, I just wanted to look better and I feel like that’s what happened. I am really, really happy with what I had done. It’s made a big difference in my life. Everyone that works at Blair Plastic Surgery has been fantastic to me. They were very helpful and non-judgmental and made me feel very comforted. I had a great experience at Blair Plastic Surgery and I’m very, very grateful to Dr. Louton for his great work.
I had been thinking about a facelift since I started coming here (Blair Plastic Surgery) 6 years ago. I had a very saggy, crêpie neck. I didn’t mind getting older, but I just didn’t want to look haggard, and it seemed that everything was starting to sag on my face. When I looked in the mirror I would say, “This is not who I am. I don’t feel like that person.” I felt so much more youthful than what I looked like in the mirror, it just wasn’t me. It looked like somebody much older and tired and I felt like I had a lot more pep than that.

I was not growing gracefully with age and I wanted to have a something done but I felt that there was never the time. I finally got a sabbatical and was able to get the opportunity to do it (facelift). What I found out was that I could have probably done it sooner because it really took a much shorter time to heal than I had ever expected. And I also had my eyes (upper lids) done! The first week of course, you have to take care of yourself but within 2 weeks I was rested and ready! It was not a hard surgery at all.
Visit www.BlairPlasticSurgery.com to view Jackie’s and other testimonial videos.
Dr. Louton was incredible. He was very patient with me, very kind and considerate. Dr. Louton treated me as a professional adult and someone he respected. He prepared me and answered all my questions. And I had a good many questions! He was very good humored about it. About 3 weeks after the surgery, I had to go a meeting and saw some of my old students and some of the faculty I had been working with and it was very interesting, I felt sure that they would say, “Did you do something?” but what they said was “You look so great! The sabbatical must have really relaxed you.” Later on, I met a former student November / December 2013

Life After Stroke Awakens a Man’s New Passion and continued outpatient therapy at HealthSouth’s Lewistown Clinic. “Now, he doesn’t even use his cane,” Crystine adds. “We have a lot of gratitude for HealthSouth and the dedicated staff who helped Marvin with his rehabilitation.”
Marvin Kohler, 54, can’t speak; he uses an electronic communication device to type words, or his wife Crystine speaks for him. He also has no use of his right arm. However, despite difficult physical limitations due to a stroke, Marvin is an artist. His medium is rebar (short for reinforcing bar), a steel bar commonly used as a tension device in reinforced concrete and masonry structures.
But life after a stroke was not easy for Marvin. “For the first four years, he sat in a chair and did nothing. I even got him a dog, which I had hoped would help with his depression.”
Marvin Kohler, 54, creates unique art from rebar, or reinforcing bar, using only one arm/hand. His passion for this new skill came as a surprise to his family and friends, after recovering from a stroke. Medicines That Can Cause Ringing in the Ears (Tinnitus) Many prescription and nonprescription medicines can cause ringing in the ears (tinnitus). Recently starting or increasing the dosage of some medicines increases the chance that tinnitus will occur. The side effects caused by medicines vary from person to person.
• Vitamins or mineral supplements, such as niacin or vitamin A • Water pills (diuretics), such as bumetanide (Bumex), furosemide (Lasix) and ethacrynic acid Medication should never be stopped without first discussing it with your physician.
Some medicines that commonly cause tinnitus or make tinnitus worse include: • Antibiotics, such as gentamicin, neomycin, and streptomycin. • Antidepressant medicines, such as amitriptyline and nortriptyline (for example, Pamelor) • Anti-inflammatory medicines, such as aspirin or ibuprofen in high doses (usually 12 or more a day) • Birth control pills • Blood pressure medicine, such as captopril (Capoten) and ramipril (Altace) • Heart medicines, such as nifedipine, quinidine (Quinaglute), propranolol (Inderal), and verapamil • Local anesthetic agents, such as bupivacaine, lidocaine, and procaine • Medicines used to treat cancer, such as cisplatin, taxol, mechlorethamine and vincristine • Medicine used to treat Parkinson’s disease, such as levodopa • Radiation therapy to the head or neck

Relief from Fibromyalgia and Chronic Pain Once identified, we can address these through lifestyle, diet and nutritional supplementation to improve physiology and restore health. Drugs can’t do this.
Fibromyalgia is a complex and often misunderstood condition. Most doctor’s have a poor understanding of and little idea what to do with these patients. If your doctor doesn’t understand what you are going through,it is no wonder that your spouse and the rest of your family and friends can’t realize the daily struggle you endure. I have seen the embarrassment of someone who can not keep up with the simple task of every day living. I have witnessed the shame from grandparents unable to play with their grandchildren or even have them sit on their lap. I have also seen people recover and take back control of their health and quality of life. Fibromyalgia is a complex web of neurological and metabolic factors. It cannot be fixed with anti-depressants, anti-seizure medications, pain pills or anti-inflammatories.
HOW WE HAVE HELPED OUR PATIENTS “I was given my life back! Went from 20% to 80% health wise. I sleep 8 hours, no pain, minimal fatigue, minimal depression, can walk 2 miles, can wash hair, brush teeth, dress myself, drive better, enjoy life! NO PAIN. I had pain for 2 years. Couldn’t get out of bed before coming here.” “I can hang out with my daughter and talk and laugh with her. I only take 1 pill now!” - Sue S, Bellefonte “I’m able to think more clearly and feel better overall. I have less leg pain and am more mobile. I also have more energy. Since I feel better, I am in better spirit. My family and friends have noticed changes in my health and have been supportive in my continuing improved health. I was able to enjoy my vacation on a level that hasn’t happened in years. I was able to participate in activities that would have been impossible before. “I have felt cared about and taken care of. You have always listened and believed me when I explain how I’ve felt. Kindness and compassion is exhibited by all who work here.” – Sherry S, State College
NEUROLOGIC – We see abnormalities of the
sympathetic nervous system resulting in: • Sensitivity to light • Migraines • Problems sleeping/Fatigue • Rapid/Irregular heart rate • Digestive trouble • Bowel problems • Increased or inappropriate pain sensation Neurologically based therapies can be used to correct these abnormalities and restore normal function. Even the best therapies will achieve less than desired results if the metabolic factors influencing fuel delivery, detoxification and inflammation are not addressed. We use advanced testing to evaluate these factors.
Dr. Thad Diehl, D.C. is the founder and clinical director of Advanced Center for Pain Relief and Wellness. He is a graduate of Penn State University and Palmer College of Chiropractic. In addition to chiropractic, Dr. Diehl has advanced study and training in Functional Medicine and neurology. This background uniquely qualifies him to NATURALLY address chronic health problems using dietary protocols and the highest quality nutritional supplements based on specialized lab work. Dr Diehl is currently pursuing a Diplomate in functional neurology through the Carrick Institute for Graduate Studies and a Diplomate through the American Board of Clinical Nutrition. He is Pennsylvania’s first certified “Gluten Coach.”
METABOLIC
• Blood sugar- hypoglycemia, insulin resistance and diabetes all lower your ability to heal and repair. • Anemias - Often times missed or ignored, it is critical to address these. • Digestion-Hypochlorhydria, dysbiosis, hidden infections, leaky gut, food sensitivities lead to inflammation in the gut, throughout the rest of the body and the brain. • Liver- Most people with chronic health problems are poor detoxifiers. • Adrenal Glands – Chronic stress and cortisol levels influence blood sugar, sleep/wake cycle, energy and thyroid metabolism. • Thyroid – Many thyroid problems are being missed and the majority of people on replacement therapy still have symptoms of low thyroid function. • Inflammation – ALL chronic conditions are inflammatory and the causes of the inflammation MUST be addressed. Underlying infections, toxicities, a leaky gut, food sensitivities and diet can all be factors. November / December 2013

Custom Closets
What’s Hanging Out In Your Closets?
Millions of dollars are spent each year on clothing, let Closets Plus show you how to double your closet space with our systems. Visit us at one of our two showrooms in Selinsgrove or Mifflinburg by appointment or on the web at www.closetspluspa.com.
Every American home has storage areas and according to the National Association of Home Builders, homeowners define them as very important. Research indicates that two of the most important things to homeowners these days are “built-in cabinetry and cleverly hidden storage spaces.” You probably have all kinds of garments hanging in your closet – some you love, some that don’t fit, some you wish would fit, some you spent way too much money on - all of them needing a place to hang out. Accommodating all the things you own can be a problem. Having spent the past five years in and out of hundreds of closets, visualizing the best way to maximize your space has become second-nature to me. have a BS in Industrial Engineering and worked as a Sales Engineer for ten years prior to purchasing Closets Plus five years ago. My education in engineering gives me the vision to provide you with the maximum storage for your space and my experience in relating with customers ensures a fun experience for everyone involved. The process of designing starts with scheduling an appointment for me to get to know you and how you use your space. By asking the right questions, we are able to custom design our units to meet your specific needs. Once the design is completed, we review the design and make any changes. The finished product is ready to install in approximately 3-4 weeks.

How To Protect Your Privacy When Seperating The decision to separate is hard, but the reality of what separation means can be harder. One of the most important aspects of separating is privacy. Here are five tips I have for protecting your privacy: 1. If you are staying in your home, change the locks as soon as your spouse moves out. Reprogram the alarm system to a new code and inform them to not let your spouse reprogram it again. Get the garage door opener back and reprogram the garage code. Make sure that you have all the keys to the vehicles that you drive. 2. If you move, change all necessary addresses at post office or if mailbox security is a concern consider a PO Box. Also, be sure to contact all the credit card companies, phone carriers, banks, etc. with your change of address. 3. Immediately change ALL your passwords; your email, shopping sites, business, retirement and bank accounts, credit cards, etc. Don’t forget to change the password on electronic devices. If your husband is the cell phone owner or manages the account, you should consider switching to a new plan or consulting your carrier to see how private you can make the information. Not only calls made, but texts as well, may be open to access by the account holder. This is also the time to consider whether or not your spouse has put spyware on your equipment or GPS on your vehicle. Also, be sure to change your privacy settings if you use social media like Facebook or Twitter. 4. Have separate bank accounts and use a different banking institution. I read it in the Women’s Journal!
Get your own credit card. If there is a problem with your spouse abusing credit cards, be sure to formally remove your name from all of the joint accounts and clarify that you will not be liable for future charges. And run a credit report on yourself to make sure there aren’t any nasty surprises. 5. Even your private home may not be so private. Kids can stumble across divorce information. Your spouse comes into the house to pick them up for a visit. Designate a spot to keep your divorce files and put them in a locked filing cabinet. Never leave computers on with your email account open.

Real Estate
Change is in the Air Properties that will require flood insurance are expected to see a marked increase in the premiums and costs for new owners that could negatively impact the salability of the land. Talk to your local Realtor for further information on how this could affect you. Finally, take a few minutes and evaluate your home to see what you can do to make it more efficient for the winter. There are hundreds of suggestions ranging from weather-stripping doorways to adding extra heat sources. The investment of some time now can save you lots of money in the future. If you want to get a thorough evaluation of your property consider having an energy audit done by a certified professional. As always, talk to your favorite local Realtor to determine what is best for you in your area when it comes to real estate.
As the balmy days of summer fade into the blustery days ahead it is a good time to reflect on the past year and begin to plan for the coming year. It is also a good time to prepare your home for the winter and see where you can save money while staying warmer. Interest rates and prices have started a long gradual climbs that will continue to trend up in the years ahead. Conditions continue to be good and many of the properties out on the market at this time of the year are willing to negotiate more than in the summer. If you are financially able to purchase real estate this could be an excellent time to take advantage of conditions. Keep in mind there are changes in the mortgage and insurance industries that may impact availability and conditions for mortgages in 2014. Generally speaking, as a buyer you need to be prepared for an increased need for documentation and fiscal responsibility. Availability of mortgages should remain at the levels they are now, or even increase, but as a borrower you will have to provide more verification of income, etc… and do a good job as avoiding spontaneous purchases (do not open up a new credit card account!). Perhaps the biggest change will be how properties with newly designated flood plains are being handled by insurance companies. November / December 2013

wegmans.com Tips For Quick Weeknight Meals Enjoying a meal together on a weeknight is a goal for many families. But adults often find themselves pressed for time on weeknights, and that time crunch can make it difficult to enjoy a homecooked meal. While it may not be feasible for parents and kids to scale back their busy schedules, there are steps parents can take to make weeknight meal preparation quicker. By shortening the time it takes to make meals on weeknights, families might be able to sit down to dinner together more often.
Here are a few tips to faster weeknight meal time! • Plan ahead allows you to prepare certain parts of a meal in advance, which will save you time on busy weeknights. • Make cold meals • Order take out from healthy options like a Wegmans. • Lean on seafood more often. • Leftovers aren't just for lunch. Enjoy meals as a family is a great way for families to eat healthy and stay engaged in one another's lives. And even families with hectic schedules can employ a few tricks to make dining together more convenient. November / December 2013

FOR OVER 20 YEARS, I HAVE HAD THE OPPORTUNITY TO PUT MY PASSION FOR HELPING WOMEN DECORATE THEIR HOMES INTO AN AMAZING BUSINESS. I love every part of what I do! I have a fun, flexible and rewarding business that allows me the freedom to spend time with my daughter and all of her school activities; all while making a full time income with only part time hours. Celebrating Home lets me have it all. With the addition of our Penelope Ann and Home Interiors collections, it’s like shopping at a Department store that travels to your front door. Our products speak to women…from stoneware and entertaining, to home decor and fragrance, to handbags and personalized totes as well as beautiful jewelry.
AS A DESIGNER, I SET MY OWN HOURS AND CHOOSE MY OWN PATH TO SUCCESS AND SO CAN YOU! We also offer a tremendous Fundraising program that is community minded, with up to 50% of all sales benefiting an organization’s goal. Our program has the most competitive profit margin in the industry. With so many organizations in need of funding, it is our privilege to give back to local communities and serve society with this program.
CELEBRATING HOME’S FOUNDATION IS BASED ON DIGNITY, INTEGRITY, LOYALTY AND TRUTH. Christian principles that are true today in an ever-changing marketplace. We are one of the top direct sales companies in the United States and Puerto Rico. We promise quality, value and many exclusively designed products. Plus, we offer flexible hours - you pick what works for you!
I AM COMMITTED TO PROVIDING WOMEN AN OPPORTUNITY TO BUILD A PERSONAL BUSINESS THAT OFFERS PERSONAL GROWTH, GREATER SELF-CONFIDENCE AND FINANCIAL FREEDOM THROUGH A FUN AND PROFITABLE BUSINESS.
