FOREIGN INVESTMENTS The Wrocław Agglomeration In 2013 Wrocław Agglomeration Development Agency in 2013 successfully completed 15 investment projects that will ultimately lead to nearly 6,000 new jobs. Last year was pretty special. We noted more pronounced than in previous years, interest in manufacturing, which is evident in the number of jobs created in this sector. Modern service industry also grew dynamically: There are new projects, and some companies on the market has decided to reinvest. Importantly, the increased importance of Wroclaw as the location for service companies. In 2013 ARAW ran a total of about 25 projects. By the end of the year managed to get decisions from 15 companies (5 manufacturing companies and 10 service) to locate or develop business in Wrocław agglomeration. By comparison - the Polish Agency for Information and Foreign Investment, the government body responsible for business development with foreign capital in the country, completed last year, 53 investment projects. Some companies as still at the decision making phase. Among the investors, from the production and logistics size, Amazon is the undisputed leader. The U.S. online sales giant will build two distribution centers konfekcyjno-Bielany Wrocławskie, which will permanently employ 4,000 people, plus 6000 part time places. In addition, the Swiss giant Nestlé will build a plant with a distribution center for animal feed, the Irish company ID Technology will invest in an adhesive labels factory, and American WABCO expands operations in Wroclaw with a a new production facility. In the service industry the noteworthy additions are : new business centers for Parker Hannifin (finance and accounting), Redknee (IT), Synexus (finance and IT) and Viessmann (R & D). BNY Mellon and Nokia Solutions and Networks have reinvested and extended their facilities in Wroclaw. Where do most investors come from? - Foreign investment is dominated by the United States. Other companies representing Western Europe are mainly from the UK and Germany - says Ewa Kaucz.
