Our fiery curry will blow away the cobwebs of Halloween a treat!
6 garlic cloves 5cm piece fresh root ginger, peeled and roughly chopped ½ small pack fresh coriander 3 tbsp hot curry powder* 2 tbsp chilli powder ¼ tsp ground cloves ¼ tsp ground cinnamon ½ tsp smoked paprika 3 tbsp tomato purée 2 large red onions, diced 700g lean beef medallions, visible fat removed, cut into small chunks
500g passata 2 peppers (red and green), deseeded and roughly chopped 1 beef stock cube, crumbled 1 tsp Bovril 2 tbsp white wine vinegar 1 tsp dark soy sauce 1 red chilli, deseeded and sliced *Watch out for spice/ seasoning blends that have added ingredients (like sugar, oil or starch).
Method
Put the garlic, ginger, fresh coriander, spices, 1 tsp freshly ground black pepper and 100ml water in your food processor and blitz until you have a smooth paste (or use a stick blender and a jug). Place a large non-stick saucepan over a low heat, add the paste and cook for 10 minutes. Add the tomato purée and red onions and cook for a further 10 minutes, adding a splash of water if anything sticks. Stir in the beef and cook for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally, then stir in the passata, peppers, stock cube, Bovril and 50ml hot water. Cover and simmer for 20 minutes. Add the vinegar, soy sauce and sliced chilli and cook for 5 minutes, then season to taste and serve with plain boiled rice and Speed veg.

CHILD'S PL A Y Christmas baking for family members and friends is a great gift, full or personality and love! It gets the kids involved, giving a sense of excitement and anticipation. Most kids love giving pressies and a great life lesson too that giving can be just as fun as receiving!
You will need: • Large marshmallows • Mini marshmallows • Icing sugar • Writing icing • A selection of sweets to decorate (strawberry laces, tic-tacs, liquorice allsorts, chocolate drops, smarties)
Snowman Marshmallows Method 1. Use wooden skewers to create the snowmen’s bodies, take two to three and thread them on to the stick make sure the one you use as a head goes on sideways so the flat edge makes the face. 2. Find a tray or something that you can stand the sticks in while you work on them - and for presentation! 3. Mix some icing sugar with water to act as glue and attach the mini marshmallows as arms. 4. If you're pushed for time you could just use writing icing to decorate the snowmen, but sweets will make them look really cool - and tastier. Orange tic-tacs work really well as noses, strawberry laces as scarves, smarties as buttons and liquorice allsorts as hats!

Christmas Tree Brownies You will need: • 3/4 cup butter (melted) • 1 1/4 cups sugar • 2 tsp vanilla extract • 3 eggs • 3/4 cup self-raising flour • 1/2 cup cocoa powder (sifted) • 1 tub Betty Crocker vanilla icing • M&Ms
Method 1 Preheat oven to 180°C. Line a round cake tin with baking paper and set aside. 2 In a bowl, beat the sugar and eggs together and light and fluffy. 3 Beat in the flour, melted butter, cocoa and vanilla until well combined. 4 Pour into cake tin and bake for 25-30 minutes. 5 Leave to cool and slice into 8 wedges. 6 Place the vanilla icing in a ziplock bag and snip the corner off. Pipe the icing onto the wedges to cover the whole brownie. 7 Place a rice cracker into the bottom to create a tree stump. 8 Decorate with various decorations to your liking.

• 12 mini Oreo biscuits • 250 g cream cheese • 1/2 cup caster sugar • 1 tsp vanilla essence • 1 tbs lemon juice • 2 eggs • 24 fresh strawberries • 150 ml cream • 2 tbs icing sugar
1. Preheat the oven to 180˚C. Line a 24 cup mini muffin tin with paper cases. 2. Use an electric beater to beat the cream cheese, sugar, vanilla and lemon juice until smooth and creamy. 3. Add the eggs, one at a time. 4. Break each mini Oreo in half and use a knife to scrape the cream filling away from the lower Oreo. Place one mini Oreo into the base of each mini muffin cup. 5. Divide the cream cheese mixture amongst the muffin cups, pouring it or spooning it over each mini Oreo. 6. Bake in the oven for 20 minutes or until slightly risen and just beginning to crack on the surface. 7. Cool completely on a wire rack and refrigerate while you make the toppings. 8. Whip the cream and icing sugar together until thick and fluffy. Prepare the strawberries by cutting off their tops (where the stalk is) to create a Santa hat shape out of each one. 9. Put the whipped cream mixture into a piping bag and pipe a generous blob onto each cooled cheesecake. 10. Place a strawberry onto each blob, pushing it down so that the cream oozes out slightly to become the hat's fur trim. 11. Top each Santa hat with a small dab of cream for a pom pom. Dust with icing sugar just before serving.
