YMU ALUM SPOTLIGHT

Last year I was chosen to attend New York University and complete a doctorate in Media Culture and Communications. Given that NYU's media studies program is ranked #7 in the world, the selection process was extremely difficult. My program costs, along with a stipend and various teaching opportunities, are entirely covered as a Steinhart Fellow. I'm now in my second year of doctoral study at NYU, where I continue to research media and technology in their cultural, social, and global contexts.

MY ADVICE FOR YMU STUDENTS

"Work on building those transferable skills and have fun while you’re doing it. Take every opportunity to grow in your craft and challenge yourself!"

"YMU played a significant role in establishing the strong work ethic I continue to lean on today. The entire entertainment industry is fast and competitive. It doesn’t matter if you are the artist, behind the scenes as a coordinator, or a media studies scholar, it’s all tough. So I often use the skills I developed as a vocal student at YMU. I learned when to use my voice and when to listen. Experiences throughout my journey post-YMU have taught me how interconnected everything is. Through this, I've found that the ability to communicate well, work as a team, and accept constructive feedback will help you achieve any goal."
