You start your day off, well thought out to-do list, and a clear plan for what you want to get done - and the best intentions to get it all done. Then...you look up and it’s the end of the day and you haven’t accomplished even half of what’s on your list. You sit there staring that list and whisper ‘what happened’ under your breath. Sound familiar? Yup! I feel you!

If you have ever found yourself asking that question more than once, you’re suffering from one thing - time zombie mode! Summertime is the PERFECT time for that monster to rear it’s ugly head and zap all of our work efforts. Now with the kids heading back to school, the carefree routine of summer is starting to take on a bit more structure and we ‘get back to normal’ - whatever that means! Believe it or not, now is the absolute best time to identify these zombies and address how they creep into your day and more importantly, how you can zap them before they strike! Let’s define a time zombie! It’s anything that steals your focus during the day. It can be something as simple as the view out of your office window to something as invasive as the kids romping and playing in the next room. But those are obvious ones, right? The silent ones that make you feel like you are busy at work, being productive, when - you actually aren’t. Those are the little stinkers you need to weed out! The two worst? Email and social media. Now, I know, you are saying, ‘hey, I need those to run my business’. Yes, you do. But remember that those activities need to lead to income producing activities not busy work.

where did your day go (continued)... Let’s tackle email first ... Consider creating folders and rules in your email system that puts the focus where it needs to be. The email from your mother about the killer sale going on at Macy’s can wait until later - so maybe those go into a ‘mom’ folder. The never-ending barrage of notifications from the phone company, gas company, the bank, and all of the others can go into a ‘household’ folder and they get cleared out after everything on your list is squared away. Why invest time to set things up this way? By splitting things up, your main inbox stays empty for the most part. Things are filed away in folders where you can find things quickly based on the content. You’ll see customer emails more readily and can deal with email quicker and simpler than before.

Now, let’s do social media ... This one can be a real doozie if you are not careful. A quick “let me check” can turn into half a day before you know it. Here are a few pointers to help. Schedule time for social media. Check things out a couple of times a day and that’s it. Will you be able to do that every day? Probably not (but when you don’t, you’ll probably find yourself regretting it after a while, LOL). Another tip is to setup notification on social media channels to alert you when someone interacts with you so that you can respond without falling down the rabbit hole! It gives the appearance that you are available on Facebook all day, but you really aren’t. Shhh! It will be our secret. Believe me, just by making these small changes, you’ll find you are able to get much more done in less time and the frustration of having a plan and then not executing it has pretty much vanished.

Now, you are saying that you have Gmail and it already filters out everything. But does it? We’ve probably all got an email from one of the biggie’s - Gmail, Yahoo, Hotmail, MSN, AOL. Dream and Make Plans! Make this year your ___ (Fill in that blank, girl)! Go ahead! Dream BIG! Set a goal - or a couple of them! Whether it’s recruiting, promoting, selling, incentive earning - you name it! Then do it! Start the season off with a goal - and pick a big one! Make moves and decisions that get you closer to that goal every single day. Dream it, Achieve it! You got this!

WOW are you still on a conference high? Whew! So much to digest and then that whole BIG PINK TICKET, right?!? So did you get rid of yours? Do you have a new recruit? Woohoo! Well, don’t even wait on her to get her kit! You need to spearhead her success by coaching her through her launch party! Conference on a dime is so doable! Don’t think that you have to spend thousands to have a great time! A simple savings plan is all you need! Adjust it to your budget - however grand or not - and be consistent with your contributions. Before you know it, the funds to go are there and conference is bought and paid for baby! Not a good weekly saver? No problem! Why not have an extra party each month and use the commission from that party to fund your trip! By earmarking those funds,
