The other day l went to watch a movie titled The Wait, made by our cover personality this week, YEWANDE ZACCHEAUS. The movie encompasses waiting for miracles in every sphere of live, be it fruit of the womb, a job and just anything and everything in life that you are waiting for. Many a time, we tend to judge a book by its cover without reading what content is inside. We live on perceptions and presumptions. But every now and then, we are sometimes surprised at what we discover beneath the surface. So basically, life is not just black and white but with many shades of grey in between. We should also take time out to dig deep and learn more from other people’s experiences and be more careful with our judgements. The movie is a must watch. It teaches one about life lessons. Another thing we have learnt during these perilous times of Covid is how to learn to enjoy our space within the four walls of our homes because just when we are about to return to the lives we once lived pre-Covid, the alarm bells are out again instructing us not to let go yet as the virus is still looming large especially with the newly discovered variant from India! There’s been speculation of it being here now. So please folks, let’s be wise and curtail our movements. So it’s time to embrace our loungewear again. For some, long loose gowns work better for them and in KAFTAN TAKEOVER, we have some lovely pieces you can wear indoors and entertain a few guests if need be. It’s also perfect for a trip to the salon, supermarket or brunch with the girls. Whichever occasion you cannot but attend, please ensure numbers are limited and don’t forget to leave home with your hand sanitizer and more importantly, face mask as we are not out of the woods yet. Stay safe.

Some people are lucky to have the good life offered to them on a silver platter while others have had put in plenty of sweat and blood to earn the good life they have. Everything they have, every bridge, every milestone, every challenge they have crossed or overcome is another added star on their lapel. Thus, their success stories continue to be a source of inspiration, hope and strength and the generation after is inspired by them. Yewande Zaccheaus’ journey in life is a compelling story. One that encourages one never to give up even when the odds are oddly stacked against you. The trained lawyer and CEO of Eventful Limited dropped her wig to pursue a career in banking before finally venturing into event planning and hospitality. Her outfit, Eventful Limited is easily one of the top four in Nigeria today. Now newly retired, Zaccheaus spoke with AZUKA OGUJIUBA on her bold step at a relatively young age for retirement and passing the baton to another worker rather than her biological children. She also discussed her latest movie The Wait, inspired by real stories from a book she wrote about women looking for the fruit of the womb, including herself at the time. The film captures the anguish and emotional turbulence women face in a society that is very unforgiving to women who have challenges in conception. What inspired you to make the movie the Wait? When I got married in 1989, I had my first child immediately and without any delay. It then took nine long years before my second child came. During that time of waiting, I promised God that if He were ever to give me a second child, I would write a book to help and encourage those who were waiting on God for children. I planned to write just the one book after my miracle baby came. However, the demand for the book was so high because it touched on issues a lot of people did not find easy to talk about. That is how the book God’s Waiting Room became a four volume set of books! Many people were blessed and encouraged by the testimonies they read and it built their faith to a level where they also got the answers to their prayers. So I continued to share the stories of God’s faithfulness. After I launched the fourth book five years ago, I was led by God to begin thinking of another medium to tell the story of people “waiting” that would reach even more people. So l went from print to film! That really was how the idea of a movie inspired by the books l had written, came to be. Many couples have had challenges of fruit of the womb. Some cannot even nurse the concept of adoption even though it’s a most rewarding act. Concerning this, how do couples who are welcome to adoption tell the children about their birth in future? Some couples feel the children do not need to know they were not biological conceived by their parents but is it important for them to know that? One of the main purposes of the book and movie is to allow people see that they have so many other options to consider now if they are unable to conceive naturally. There are various medical interventions such as IVF, there is adoption, there is surrogacy. The most important thing whichever route one eventually chooses is that there must be agreement between the spouses as to which way to go. Culturally the concept

of adoption was not accepted by Nigerians ( which is strange as we all have such large extended families) but I believe that with time and exposure it is now more accepted. The amazing thing is that many who choose that route now find that they get pregnant naturally after the adoption because all the anxiety and pressure of childlessness has been removed! As regards whether the children be told that they are adopted that is always a personal decision ( though I know in some countries it is actually mandatory that you tell them). I am of the view that children should be told but the time and place for this conversation can only be decided by the adoptive parents. Gone are the days when women would hide pillows under their dresses to pretend they were pregnant before bringing an adopted baby home. In fact now the only regret adoptive parents have is that they did not take the decision to do so earlier. The film covers many aspects of life where people are waiting for a breakthrough. What key points are
important to live by to strengthen your Faith while you wait? The film is titled THE WAIT for obvious reasons. So what are the things we should focus on as we wait?First you must realize there is a purpose for your wait. Make sure you learn whatever lesson it is that can be gained from the experience so you don’t waste your wait. Secondly, you must live your life to the fullest while you wait, don’t put off or delay other issues such as education, career advancement, travel, business opportunities because you are waiting for children or anything else. We are multifaceted individuals that God has blessed with many unique gifts and talents, focus on all your present blessings with gratitude so you can wait in joyful anticipation and not weary despair! Thirdly, the place of faith and prayers can never be over emphasized. It is not as if there is formula that will produce the answer you want like magic...not at all. But there is a peace and spiritual growth that comes in the place of waiting that really cannot be quantified. This really helps us to bear the anxiety that comes with waiting much better. Fourthly the power of a community that can lift each other up and encourage each other is also very key and instrumental to seeing one through a time of waiting. Whether it be friends or family, colleagues or fellowships...everyone needs a tribe of supporters to see them through an emotionally draining and challenging time. Mother-in-laws are perceived as the most intolerant of their offspring’s wives when facing challenges of getting pregnant. Should there be counseling classes for mothers of offsprings to better understand the plight of their children to enable handle the situation better? (Laughter) I am not sure any mother-in-law would appreciate such classes. The point of featuring a typical intolerant mother-in-law in the movie is to help women

behaving like that see how much ill will such behavior generates. A lot of sons’ mothers act out of ignorance or genuine frustration, but they just need to understand that the one thing a family waiting on God needs, is love, support, encouragement and understanding. When we all, regardless of our status in life, do unto others as we would like them to do unto us... the world would really be a better place to live. What of a scenario where the man is clearly at fault but is too proud to accept the fact leaving the woman in a helpless situation? We have heard of low sperm counts. If this same man is frowning on adoption, what would you advice the couple to do to fulfill their quest for a child? This situation does arise when it is actually the man that has the problem of infertility but feels again because of cultural and gender biases that he cannot be seen to be the cause of the delay. A lot of counseling is required to enable couples and their families understand that infertility is no one’s fault and is a challenge couples need to face together so they can surmount it. There must be unity of purpose between spouses for the victory to come. One of the things The WAIT does is to feature men who are waiting in a positive light as understanding and considerate partners in the journey of life and not the typical macho men who put the blame of the infertility on their wife and allow friends and family to cause them pain or anguish. The movie is so relatable you will see people you know portrayed through one or more of the various characters and it makes you stop and think and realize
Gone are the days when women would hide pillows under their dresses to pretend they were pregnant before bringing an adopted baby home. In fact now the only regret adoptive parents have is that they did not take the decision to do so earlier.

there is a better way of dealing with people going through this time of great pain and anxiety. Even the characters waiting for career breakthroughs and life partners face everyday situations that we can relate to. The feedback since the movie came out has been phenomenal, the whole gamut of emotions, joy, laughter, pain, anxiety and hope are experienced and the acting has been highly commended by both critics and movie goers! For couples who have explored adoption or surrogacy by bonding with the carrier whilst pregnant, is there not fear of the biological mother springing up years later demanding her rights? Yes of course this remains a possibility as the carrier may change her mind after giving birth, so it is very important that these arrangements are professionally handled and the appropriate legal contracts are understood and signed by all parties to ensure that the children are not at risk in later years. Now that you have retired, what are your plans for the future? That is the million dollar question! I keep telling everyone that I will first take a year off and rest but no one seems to believe me! I have worked as a professional in law and banking for 18 years and then became an entrepreneur and ran my own business for another 19 years! I think I have paid my dues. Seriously though my plans for the future will definitely involve supporting young entrepreneurs and giving them a platform to express themselves, helping them scale their businesses and grow the economy.
Based on the success so far of the movie, do you have plans to do more of such movies in the future that reflects true life situations? Yes, I established Eventful Ltd in 2002 as a pioneer in the events management business. In 19 years, the company established itself as a trailblazer and industry leader in corporate and social events management as well as venue management and industry fairs known as the Eventful Souks. I felt I had fully expressed my entrepreneurial creativity through Eventful and was ready to do other things. I was very deliberate about handing over the company as I did not want a business I had invested so much time, energy and resources into to die when I was no longer interested in or unable to run it. Over the years I implemented processes that enabled me identify, mentor and train likely successors and then appoint the most suitable person to take over the mantle of leadership for the next season in the life of the company. We held a leadership transition event which we termed The Evolution in March and this was very well received by our clients and the industry. I am now the Chairman of Eventful whilst Mr Fisayo Beecroft is the new Managing Director. It is important that entrepreneurs give the next generation a chance to lead and take their company to the next level with new blood and ideas. We must never be afraid of change. Quite honestly, I plan to continue to reinvent myself as the need arises! There is so much life has to offer and I certainly want to partake of as much of it as I possibly can in my lifetime! Apart from providing inspiration, encouragement and generating awareness on the many parts of the waiting journey is there any practical way the movie is helping couples experiencing infertility? Yes indeed. The Wait movie is partnering with a US based charity ANEDENGIVES which has just established a Nigerian chapter. I am privileged to be the Chairperson of the Nigerian Board of Advisors which includes the highly respected gynaecologist Dr Faye Iketubosin amongst others. The charity provides financial assistance through grants towards IVF treatment for couples experiencing delays in conception. IVF treatment is quite expensive and ANEDENGIVES will be providing a grant of N1.5million to the lucky winner of this promotion who will have to watch the movie first then apply for the grant. The details of the application and selection process can be found on the charity’s website. Based on the success of the movie will you make more movies? That is another million dollar question! To be honest with you, the plan was just to make this one movie on the important subject of Waiting because I really wanted the impact my books had on people to resonate on a much wider level nationally and globally through the medium of film. It was such an amazing experience. I loved everyminute of the process, from scriptwriting, to identifying the actors, finding the locations, shooting, producing. It was awesome just watching it all come together! So much to learn, so much talent and creativity in this country. I now understand that what I did is called a “passion project” (a project done out of a deep passion for the subject matter and not principally for commercial gain!) However, I may have caught the movie making bug and if the opportunity ever comes my way to tell another important story that will impact lives positively and encourage people into the place of their blessings, I am sure I will not say No! I am truly grateful that I have been able to find my purpose through my wait for my second child. Four books were birthed. A movie is now added. As difficult as those nine years of waiting were, the blessing of my husband Teni, my children Teniola and Grace, Iretidayo and our new precious grandson Zacai Oreoluwa, together with this ministry, I believe the Lord has committed to my hands, I know I can truly say it was definitely worth the wait!

t n i r p BOLD
With better weather comes bolder looks. You need to be able to make a statement with just a few key pieces and that’s where bold print comes in. When you’re working with colourful pieces, look for a tertiary colour in that pattern that’s easy to match. Whether that’s a navy or another easy-to-match tone, choose something that won’t make your outfit difficult to look at. Steer clear of anything that’ll come off as too bright. You can incorporate your prints in your accessories and pair with naturals. We’ve laid Tropical print With how pervasive this print has become; out a few of our favourites, so put on your we couldn’t possibly write about bold prints vacation-mode cap and prepare for all the without including the classic Hawaiian compliments that are coming your way. print. Try a monochrome palm front for something that’s bold but not too bold or an embroidered print for something tropical with a bit of texture. If you dare to wear a traditional Hawaiian print, make sure to keep the rest of your getup clean and simple. MODEL FOR COLRS

Colourful Stripes
No, wearing a pinstripe button-down doesn’t count as a bold print. The classic vertical stripe has a whole new life with multi colours that instantly makes a bold statement. Try a dual-striped style in an unexpected colourway or a tri-striped style with differing scales. Both will add a little more visual interest. MODEL FOR KENNETH IZE
Tonal Tie-Dye
This isn’t anything like the tie-dye you used to make at camp. For a relaxed and retro addition to your summer wardrobe, seek out pieces in tonal tie-dyes. This saturated print has an instantly worn look. It will look like you pulled it straight from a thrift store. Even though this style is a little more laid back than its brighter counterparts, the overdyed effect adds depth to whatever piece you’re wearing. AKIN FAMINU
Patchwork
For the truly bold among us, take multiple prints and put them into one garment. In this case, someone with good taste (hopefully) has done the work of pattern matching, so all you have to do is put it on. This style definitely isn’t for the faint of heart. Look for patchwork pieces that use a similar colour scheme as a uniting factor if you aren’t exactly confident in discerning if the prints work together or not. DAVID ADELEKE
Paint Splashes
If you want something with a little extra edge this summer, reach for a splattered print. The smaller the splatters, the more it looks like a fun polka dot. The paintsplashed pattern has an intrinsically messy and artistic look. This will add some instant street-style to your getup. Even if that isn’t your usual style, keeping the colour palette simple, it makes it easy to adopt. HENRY AIKHOMU

cufflinks BY USIADE ISIOMA
Bullet Back Cufflink
Due to ease of use, this is a highly popular cufflink among menswear aficionados. They are categorized by a small cylinder set between two short bars, and is flipped 90 degrees to secure.
Whale Back Cufflink
One of the most common cufflink closures there is, the Whale Back Cufflink consists of a flat face with a “whale tail” that flips back to close the link.
Fixed Backing Cufflink
There are no moving parts in this design, and many fixed backings come in reversible styles. These may be a little more difficult to insert, but the “fixed” aspect simply means one less step you need to worry about.
Chain Link Cufflink
This link allows for a looser cuff according to preference, and can be fastened with ease. Many chain link cufflinks are also reversible, but the ends are connected with a chain.
Ball Return Cufflink
A more advanced style, the ball return cufflink can be found in both chain link and fixed closure variations. Faces will vary with design, but the back end will always be differentiated by its ball shape.
Knotted Cufflink
Great for informal occasions, the silk knot cufflink provides pops of color and ease of use. Although slightly less durable than metal cufflinks, knot cufflinks are the most affordable options. They also add some colour to your ensemble so you can go as bright as you want.
Locking Cufflink
A more contemporary style, this cufflink functions as a hinge and is secured via a closure similar to that of a wristwatch. It possesses a dual-locking system and an innovative design.
18
Stud/Button Cufflink
A more secure cufflink, this style is fastened with no moving parts. To adjust through the buttonhole of your dress shirt, simply tilt the smaller end and then straighten to secure it for wear. Both ends will usually consist of the same material and design.

ALL YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT
Every now and then, it’s important to do something different with your daily attire. If you’ve run out of ideas, wear cufflinks as they can be just the finishing touch you need to top off your look. These funky accoutrements date back to the early 1900’s and still provide a boost of modern and unexpected flair to those cuffs. The 80’s brought them back and they have since continued to be a stylish, if not underrated, part of men’s fashion. There are many types of cufflinks, in reference to shape, colour, design, closure, and material. Before decking out those wrists, get to know each type so you can choose which pair best suits your style. Our guide will give you insight into everything you need to know about these small but mighty details.

Our mental health is screaming out for help and no one can hear us, emotions all over the place like a badly made booboo and no one is listening....lonely souls begging for a break, just a little light to change the colour of darkness, but alas....silence...eerie. We are mostly all either flawed or damaged, many are limping and mangled often lifelessly passing each day like zombies. Life oftentimes deals you a few cards that you are not equipped to play but play you must or you end up incinerated. There are so many depressed people daily putting up a show of “all is well” whilst they are dying within. No matter how strong you think you are, life sometimes deflates you and then drains the oil that had kept you burning. How does anyone run this race in high spirit when the lows just seem determined to drag you to the lowest level. Many life issues contend for your sanity, from matrimony to parenting to finances to health issues, to cruel words that burn, the list is endless. You try to rationalise, but you’re unable to reach a logical conclusion as so many things just don’t make sense. The world is determined to pull the rug from under your feet and leave you floating and the grit needed to keep you determined can only be heaven sent because if not heaven sent you will be in hell on earth. The demons who have decided to trouble us are not taking prisoners right now, it’s interesting how we open ourselves up to them and later wonder how they got in in the first place, seriously, they are not playing ten ten with us and the earlier we realise that there is a war where our souls are in contention, the better for us. We must learn to shout, scream, BEG for help when we find that we are losing our marbles, there is nothing wrong in admitting that you’re not coping and then reach out to those who can set you on the path to your healing, mental health issues is prevalent in the world we live in and we must not trivialise it when faced with it, get yourself connected to a solid help source and resist the urge to hide. You are afraid people will laugh at you, let them laugh, you need to sort you out ASAP. I have watched many give up, I have seen many people lose it whilst trying to make out that all is well when all is not well. It’s cool, let people use you for their pull down gossip topics, what do you care if you can find a message in the mess. Do not believe the lie that says life is problem free, even the good book states clearly that in this world we will face tribulation but that we are overcomers. Many believe they have God on speed dial and cannot understand why they are so burdened, they cannot see the way forward, no one seems able to reach them as they have recoiled inwards and are bleeding where no one can see and fix. It is time to let go, we must not allow our experiences to castrate our spirit. We must develop the ability to resist the inner voices that daily tell us that we are not enough. Let me tell you something for a fact pilgrim, all that you are is all that is needed for your journey. Gird your loin and fight for survival, it’s easy to invite the usual suspects to a pity party but you must admit that each time you try, your guest of honour is never in attendance and in case you’re wondering, your guest of honour is God, he hates pity parties especially those thrown by his soldiers. The strength you need to wade through this battle is within, it is that strength that will help you cry out for help when needed. It is in weakness we find strength. No matter how dark the clouds, the sun always peeps at some point, every problem has an expiry date and once over you struggle to remember the pain you went through. To quote Sam Cooke, “it’s been too hard living, but I’m afraid to die”, the story of many lives but live you must, fight to stay alive. Do not give in to fear, do not make friends with pain. I beg no let us overthink this our time wey we get and the space wey we dey live, make we shaprapra enjoy the days of our lives or we go wound if we go dey form Plato or Aristotle. Oya, pack all you can into the hour doing what “you” want to do.... don’t let anyone spin you no yarn, nobody gets life walahi, nobody does, so clear the clutter, dump the excess, travel light and put depression on fast track out of your world. In a capsule, free your mind, try your best, leave time and tide with the burden of each day, you cannot come and kill yourself like they say in giddy. Las las, we go dey ok.

JESUS IN JOB We continue our walk through the books of the Bible. My daughter is writing these series. In the past four weeks we have looked at Jesus in the books of Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus and Numbers. I am sure we were expecting Deuteronomy next. But bible scholars accept that the events in the book of Job took place just after the events in the book of Genesis chapters 1-3, 4-7, 8-11. So, we should actually have featured Job earlier. That said, let’s jump right in… I love everything about it – the honesty and rawness of Job’s emotions, the majesty of God’s response (I felt incredibly humbled), and of course the striking similarities between Job and Jesus. The book of Job records how the eponymous man suffers grief, financial loss, physical pain, social alienation and the condemnation of his friends as a result of… his blamelessness and right-standing before God. A lot of us, even if we know the Bible says otherwise, generally accept this as a law of life: good things happen to good people, and bad things happen to bad people – or at least, they should. But the inverse happens in this book. Instead of a righteous man being rewarded, he is tormented by Satan. And with God’s permission at that. This is all very scandalous. Why would God allow this? How can God love Job and make him go through that? Some of us might have even wondered what sort of sick, twisted game God was playing at. One of the reasons why I believe Job’s story is essential to mankind, is because it makes him a ‘type’ of Christ. Typology is, to quote my pastor, ‘when people, institutions or events are used in a pattern that grows to point towards something greater than themselves.’ That’s what this whole series is about: how people, institutions and events in the Bible point to Jesus, who is greater than all. You see, Job was not suffering as punishment for his sin; the Bible says he was blameless. In fact, he brings to mind the suffering innocent servant in Isaiah 53, who was ‘despised and rejected by men, a man of sorrows, and familiar with suffering.’ It was God’s will to ‘crush him and cause him to suffer.’ This servant was ‘pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was upon him, and by his wounds we are healed.’ This servant was Jesus. So, one fundamental importance of
Job’s story is that it paves the way for a man who was more blameless than Job was – who was perfect – to be punished, by changing our perspective on God. God is not black and white. He’s unchanging certainly, but unpredictable to puny human minds. His ways are not our ways. He often has a greater plan at work than we can see. And, He doesn’t owe us an explanation. How do those last points relate to Jesus? Well, Jesus did not exactly meet the criteria the Jews had (and still have) for their Messiah. They insisted it was impossible for God to have a Son, or to come live on earth in human form. The Law says that anyone who hangs on a tree like Jesus did is cursed, and God’s Anointed One cannot also be cursed by Him. I could go on and on, but the summary is that they put God in a box and thought they had Him all figured out, just like Job’s friends Eliphaz, Bildad and Zophar did. In reality, we can never figure God out. We, like Job, may not understand why we go through some things. God may seem wicked, or distant. I for one have felt that way as 2020 ended. But, reading Job reminded me of the sovereignty of God, and of my myopic understanding as a human. I’m convinced Jesus also found comfort in the memory of Job while He suffered on the cross. That innocent, blameless man who didn’t deserve to die did it anyway, for you and I. God, in His immeasurable love, allowed one man suffer so that we all may be saved. Thankfully, we share with Jesus something which Job never had: certainty about God’s endgame. God hasn’t given those He loves all the details, but He has promised to work all things out for our good. Ultimately, He has also assured us that after overcoming the trials of this earth, a heavenly home and eternal crown awaits us. Tarari Kalango The Colours of Life show. Style a shirtdress with bootcut jeans
A white shirtdress gets taken to the next level with a belt and black bootcut. This is a fun, unexpected combination.
Monochromatic Is Always Cool
It comes across as an intentional set looking easy and effortless, rather than over-the-top. This vibrant Akris ensemble with the sleeveless orange dress and coordinating trousers is where it’s at.
Ease Yourself in With a Long Tunic
You don’t have to go for a full dress. Try a longer-than-average shirt instead, and wear it with simple, solid pants for a commitment-free take.
Think Comfy
Forget the skinny jeans (for a moment) and try loose designs, like a long, breezy, caftan-like dress over wide-leg pants. This is an outfit you can wear for a variety of occasions, but also to chill in when you’re at home.
Switch It Up
If you own a long shirt dress, don’t button it up all the way. Keep the bottom half open so that your legs are visible, creating an eye-catching yet casual ensemble.
Make the Most Out of Your Wardrobe
Instead of getting rid of your mini dress, try your hand at this trendy layered look and style the piece over some pants. This layering move is the perfect way to wear all those sundresses while still keeping your legs warm.
Find a Happy Medium
You can create a similar vibe by layering a long Shaket over some jeans. Considering this top is so versatile and easily adjustable, it’s a good one for putting the trend to the test. Should you change your mind, just unbutton!
Take a Big Risk
You don’t have to keep your outfit on the tame side. People are already gravitating toward more voluminous and whimsical dresses, balancing out puff-sleeved designs with classic bottoms such as jeans and black pants.

The elevated look has been a styling front runner for fashion girls for a few years and it has made a major comeback on the street of fashion. It may seem more unconventional in theory, but the layered vibe is definitely worth a try given its highconcept nature. Layering a dress over pants looks chic, gives dresses that cool tomboy contrast, and extends your wardrobe by essentially turning a dress into a top or jacket.
