There’s a quote that says “It’s the clothed body that triumphs”. This doesn’t just apply to the physical, it also applies to every other aspect of life. It applies mentally, emotionally, spiritually and financially. What you portray on the outside is always what is judged, wrongfully or rightfully, because you only show what you want people to see. But life, in itself, goes way beyond that. There is so much more to anyone that meets the eye which leads me to my next point. Many a time, we see women dressed to the nines looking like a gazillion dollars. Most times, you automatically assume that if they can get it right with their outward appearance, surely what lies underneath must be equally as well put together. But surprisingly, that is not always the case. This time around, let’s talk about the physical aspect of that quote. Let’s talk about what women wear underneath their ensemble. One of such inner wears is the choice of Bras. Till date, there are still women who wear the wrong sized Bras. They either wear cup sizes too big or too small and it’s usually more of the latter than the former. In ALL YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT BRAS, we give a step by step guide on how to choose your correct Bra size. It is amazing how the right Bra can make an outfit sit and fit much better on you. More important, especially if you are chest heavy, the right Bra will give you much more comfort because for those who know, mammary glands can weigh a ton if not well supported. To again revert to the said quote, let’s talk about the mental and spiritual aspect. You see, what lies within you is just as, if not more important, than what people see on the outside. Macbeth says “There is no art to find the mind’s construction in the face”. Our Cover personality this week, FOLORUNSO ALAKIJA, personifies this. Even though she has been globally acclaimed as one of the richest women in Africa, her material wealth pales to nothing compared to her abundant love for God. The truth is, hard as it may be to believe, especially in this harsh climate we live in, money is not everything. All the wealth in the world does not automatically translate to everlasting happiness as you can never be truly happy if you have no peace within. That, in my view is the foundation of true happiness. Fact. In her riveting interview Alakija accords Him all the glory for the blessings He has bestowed upon her. This love for her maker is her real source of joy regardless of her abundant wealth. At, 70, she is fulfilling her purpose in life by serving Him first, and she continues to strive to do so. My point here basically is, after all said above, there is always more to appearances than meets the eye. Life is much deeper than what you see and as such, seeking a deeper understanding of the God you serve far outweighs the love of anything else. A Send Forth For Emily Aig-Imoukhuede To mark the demise of Pastor Emily AigImoukhuede, a funeral service was organized for the Matriach at Our Saviour’s Church, TBS, followed by a funeral reception at Harbour Point, Victoria Island. Even with the heavy downpour, high calibred dignitaries, captains of industries, friends and family defied the weather and showed up to pay homage to Pastor Emily’s accomplished life which she led just short of 80. Her love and service to humanity joined with her love of the Word enabled her touch many hearts and change lives for the better. A benevolent trait she has passed on to her children. The rain, fittingly seemed like a celebration with showers of blessings, at the glorious exit of Pastor Emily into the hands of her maker. May her soul continue to Rest In Peace.

Eniola & Ayobami Tie The Knot Recently, the MD of THISDAY Newspapers, Eniola Bello got married to his sweetheart Ayobami. A small reception was held at The Four Points hotel where the veterans of Journalism gathered together to celebrate the blissful union of one of their own. The hall was filled with family, friends and colleagues who were more than happy to see Eniola once again beaming with joy. Ayobami, the glowing bride couldn’t hide her glow as well as she welcomed all guests with her megawatt smile. Speeches were made by close friends and associates and they were regaled by the bride’s sister’s story as the one behind the couple’s introduction. All in all, it was a day that put an end to Eniola’s single status as a widower and marked the beginning of his second chance at love. We wish the couple a happy married life.

Who are you when no one is watching you? Today we take a break from our series that highlight Jesus in the books of the Bible to do some personal reflection and to pause and ponder on the issue of integrity. Every now and then you hear a sermon that stays with you. Today I am sharing one of such sermons. It bore the title “Who are you when no one is watching you?” It is one of those discourses a listener is not likely to forget, at least I have not, since I heard it some 20 years ago. “Who are you when no one is watching you?” I think this is a question we should all ask ourselves from time to time. Who are you when you are overpaid at the bank? Who are you when your boss is not around? Who are you when you holidaying alone in some remote location where you are not likely to be known? Who are you when you are stuck in traffic and are tempted to drive on the lane meant for oncoming vehicles? Who are you when you face danger or death? Who are you when no one is watching you? Our sincere answer to this question will bring us face to face with whom we really are. If we are different people in private and public (where integrity is concerned), then we are living as hypocrites, men pleasers or frauds. Being less concerned about what people think and more concerned about doing what is right, makes it easier for us to be the same person, when we are alone or when we are in the company of others. It also saves us the unnecessary stress that comes with living a double life. The speaker posed a pertinent question: “Is no one watching?” Sometimes, unknown to us, people are watching.
It may be someone we know, it may be someone we do not know and will never get to know. It could be a child, looking for an example to follow. Or a vulnerable teenager tottering on the brink of a decision. Those we actually want to hide from may be the ones watching. Let us even assume no one is watching. But is no one watching? “the eyes of the Lord are in every place, keeping watch on the evil and the good” (Proverbs 15:3) From this scripture, it is clear that we are never really alone. At all times, in every place, God is watching. Hopefully this realization makes some of us desire to do the right thing. But then how do we know what is right? From scripture we know that the laws of life are engraved in our hearts and we are guided into truth by our conscience. Yet, for some, the truth does not come so easily. Surely we cannot do what is right if we do not know the truth to base our standards upon. For some of us the truth is a philosophy, for others the truth is subjective and comparative. While some believe truth is what you want it to be, still others believe there is no absolute truth. I think the first step towards integrity is knowing the truth. Jesus Christ said in John 14:6 “… I am … the truth”. This truth is revealed to us through His word, the Bible. Therein lies guidlines for life and living. There, we can find the parameters for measuring truth and therefore be able to determine what integrity is. Knowing the truth is good yet if we cannot apply it, integrity remains an illusion to us. When
we enter into a personal relationship with God through Jesus Christ, the Spirit of God in us, gives us the enablement to live above sin. A genuine conversion to God should, in turn, produce true and consistent character in private and public. Who are you when no one is watching you? Or maybe we should ask who are you when you think no one is watching you? Remember the person you are in such a situation is the person you really are. Remember also, people may be watching, but above all, God is watching, and that is what really matters! COLOURS OF LIFE SHOW For inspiring stories and testimonies, follow our Colours of Life show. A J I K A AL @70! TY I R E P S O R P
Apostle Folorunso Alakija is the Vice Chairman of Famfa Oil and also serves as the Chancellor of Osun State University. Though said to be one of the richest women in Africa, Alakija remains humble in spirit with a quiet mein that does not portray her status. She remains firmly grounded and steadfast in doing her bit to better the lives of those less privileged but prefers to keep her philanthropic deeds quiet. Not one to hog the limelight as some in her shoes are wont to do, she much prefers a simple life and jealously guards her privacy. Folorunso is a firm believer in women striving to bring out the best of themselves concerning work and financial empowerment. To her, women should be focused and decisive about what they want in life. She is a living proof of the selfmade woman and certainly is an inspiration to many. She holds sway to the belief that a life lived for others is a life of fulfillment. But all this, compares to nothing without her ardent love for God which she expresses at any given opportunity as her love for Him is exemplary. She accredits everything she owns and has in her life is simply by His grace. Blessed with a loving husband and four children, all boys, Alakija does not stop extaling the blessings that has brought her this far. In this riveting encounter with AZUKA OGUJIUBA, she talks about her life’s journey so far now that she has clocked 70! In your body, mind and spirit, how do you feel about turning 70? In my body I feel very good. In my mind, I feel like am 40 or 50. In my spirit I want to go, go, go! Usually, some women are hesitant to discuss their age and in fact, do not celebrate it. It has even been said that it’s rude to ask a woman her age. For some reason, such women feel ashamed to admit how old they truly are. Some even go as far as reducing their age. Why are women afraid to admit their real age? I think we should enjoy every season of our lives. We’ve enjoyed being as boisterous as we could be in terms of activities, we’ve enjoyed all of that. And there is a time when you need to begin to slow down. At 70, I think this is the season for me, but I don’t see myself slowing down quickly because I still feel much younger. To the glory of God, one is aging gracefully. Just accept it, don’t fight it. That’s how God created us. So, embrace it and make the most of it. That’s the way I see it. The story of your life has shown beyond doubt, that a man is just as blessed as he can see and grace is abundantly sufficient. Was there any time whether in business or marriage, that you were so overwhelmed you felt the need to quit? Quit!? Folurunsho doesn’t quit. I don’t quit. Quit doing what? I’ve always enjoyed everything that I’ve done. Anything I’m not going to enjoy, I don’t even get involved in it, in the first place. I never quit, once I get started, I want to get to the finish line.

At 70, I think this is the season for me, but I don’t see myself slowing down quickly because I still feel much younger. To the glory of God, one is aging gracefully. Just accept it, don’t fight it. That’s how God created us. So, embrace it and make the most of it. That’s the way I see it.
You’re also lucky to have a supportive husband. Oftentimes, when a woman is very successful, the man get intimidated. How have you been able to balance marriage, motherhood and business? Each one of those roles are totally different. You just take one cap off and wear another one to attend to each appropriately and infuse them and balance them. You have to be a wife first before you can be a mother. So, anything the bible has told us to do as a wife, you have to put it into practice. Everything you have to do as a mother comes from a natural instinct, that’s the way God created womanhood. For business, business is part and parcel of me. I grew up in a business-oriented family
and I enjoy doing business, I’ve always done business ever since I was old enough to know how to spend money and enjoy spending money. So, I’ve always done one thing or the other because going to school, coming back, I was always with my mum. She was always doing one business or the other especially when she is not at home with us. I learnt a lot through her, how to run your business and how to merchandise. She was into textiles and as a result, I learnt a lot about textiles and colours. Mixing and matching, everything like that. I leant how to relate with the public and also with my clients from her. So, you see, that’s where I got my tips in business. The fashion part is inborn. I just discovered my love for fashion from within myself just like my other siblings. My mother was not as fashionable as my dad. And also, I come from Ikorodu, a part of Lagos where people are always fashion conscious and are into textile trading. They know a lot about clothing and how to wear it and as a result, I grew up learning all of that and having that’s as a potential and talent that I have continued to develop. You have achieved remarkable successes all round, from business endeavours through to your family as a mother, wife and business woman, what more do you wish to achieve as you turn 70? I would like to grow more with God. Know Him more and develop a much better and intimate relationship with Him. I call Him “The God that gives the Rose”. He’s the one that has the hand that gives the rose. In my first autobiography, I titled it “Growing with the hand that gives the Rose”

Are they things you think turning 70 will deny you of? I don’t really think so, but maybe I wouldn’t be able to run as fast I could when I was a 15 or 20 year old girl. Apart from that, I feel fine. I just thank God for the grace and the ability to continue to be able to carry on and l feel ten years younger.
We empower them. Most of them are in business. Some of them chose to go back to school and about 11 of them have graduated. For the poor children, we give them scholarship. We started out initially with two children per family, but we got overwhelmed and reduced it to one child per family which we send to school from whatever age we find them. We help them out up to university level to the glory of God. We do the same for orphans. We give them scholarships. We give the orphans stipends too, since they don’t have any other parents to support them. We also give them accommodation.
The global effect of Covid-19 is still being felt by many. Forbes reported that your net worth dropped by $1billion. We’re you phased by that? Certainly not. I thank God that I wasn’t really looking at what any magazine says about what I have how much more comparing what I have with that of others. I do not seek to know what is in another person’s pocket. I am not in a competition with anyone. I don’t allow those things to bother me at all. It is God that gives and when He does, He does not add any sorrow
Do the orphans and widows have to apply to the Foundation or the Foundation goes out to look for them? They approach us and some are introduced. We come across them one way or the other. We also make sure we do our homework to ensure that they are truly orphans and widows. For the first few years, we got our fingers burnt; we learnt the hard way and we tightened up.
You always have a happy disposition. You also seem to have a solid marraige. In today’s times, marriages are more difficult to sustain talkless of lasting as long as yours. What is the secret behind a marriage like yours? God is in total control. If you have God, you will have peace in your heart. You will be able overcome any challenge with the help of God. There is no perfect, relationship, marriage or situation or perfection in anything that we do or experience, but we have to learn and know how to forge ahead and learn from our experiences to move on. As a woman who loves fashion, who has been involved in the business of fashion, one of your trademark looks was you love of trousers. Do you still wear them? I stopped wearing trousers last year when I became an apostle. I love them, but you will give anything up for Jesus. At what point in your life did you know you were called to become an Apostle? It was a calling. I didn’t call myself. God told me, although the call came three years ago. I was ordained then, but I never used the title. But the same became a lot stronger last year, precisely two weeks to my birthday. I did not plan on doing anything for my birthday last year, I just wanted to stay at home and spend it just like any other day while giving glory to God in my heart, but then He impressed something different in my heart. Was there any remarkable event that confirmed His call in your life? God spoke to me 12 or 13 days to my birthday last year but I wanted to sure that it was Him speaking to me. So I asked other men and women of God and our ministers in the ministry to pray about it, and all those who that did but one, came back to affirm that God wants me ordained as an Apostle before my birthday. The one with the contrary view said God wants me to be a Pastor, but as you know, majority carries the vote. What church do you attend? I attend the Redeem Christian Church of God. There are only two globally acclaimed female billionaires in Africa, youself and Isabella Santos. How does it feel to be celebrated as one of Africa’s richest women? I’m glad you said the world says, l am not the one who says. But whatever God has done for me, however He has done it, l am grateful to Him. It hasn’t been because of what I have done, no! It’s because of what He has done with me, in me and through me. To have brought me this far, I give glory to Him. Have you met Isabella Santos before? Yes. We met at an event in South Africa.

My advice to women is that they must be focused. They must be levelheaded. They must know what they want out of life and be willing to face the challenges that come with it because nothing comes easy; nothing ever gets dropped on any body’s laps. You have to go the extra mile all the time.
Having had your hand in so many things, including fashion, oil and gas, printing and so many other lucrative things, at what point in your career did you hit the gold-mine? The backbone of our business is Famfa Oil, the oil exploration and production company, that’s the most lucrative of all. You have managed your business properly thus far and you will no doubt, want to see the business continue to thrive way beyond you. Are your children part of your succession plan? We run a family business and all our children work with us. They are doing everything they need to do on a daily basis. They are running the business and we are overseeing what they are doing. We are guiding them. Of course, they are going to take over by God’s grace. You have been out and about doing good, impacting lives through charity, so you intend to slow down anytime soon? No. I don’t see any reason why I should. That too was a call of God, and when God calls, I obey. When he says, “Do this”, the first thing I ask is “How” then l obey. I do exactly what He wants me to do. Ever since God told me what to do with widows and orphans in 2008, I have been running with it, doing the best I can, with all my energy, intellect and money. What do you actually do for the orphans and widows?
Who are those who influenced and inspired you from the early days of your career and business, and would you say that they are proud of what you have achieved thus far? l am sure that my mother must be extremely happy where she is right now. My dad too. They both died twelve years ago within one month from each other. She influenced me the most between the two of them. I think it’s the same for many children. She was a business woman all her life. She wasn’t educated but I saw how tenacious and dedicated she was both to her children and to her business. She was dogged in all areas and she brought us up well, too. I would say we are still benefitting from how she raised us. We thank God for her life.
WEEKEND RECOMMENDATION
How many children did your mother have? We were all seven, but we lost one a few years down the line. How do you plan to celebrate your 70th birthday? In a couple of days, I will be presenting five new books to the general public. I will spend Tuesday celebrating Jesus, dancing, rejoicing, worshiping and glorifying Him in His presence. I will be celebrating Jesus for what He has done for me, how far He has brought me, where I am today, and where He is still going to take me. I will be celebrating Him for the wonderful people around me, my family and everything He has ever done for me. I give Him the glory. What is your advice to young women who look up to you as a mentor? My advice to women is that they must be focused. They must be levelheaded. They must know what they want out of life and be willing to face the challenges that come with it because nothing comes easy; nothing ever gets dropped on any body’s laps. You have to go the extra mile all the time. You have to ensure that you keep your eye on the ball. You must see a light at the end of the tunnel and work towards that light. Women should not be copy cats. They should get advice where and when they need it. They should draw a plan and work towards those plans. They should make sure that they are not misled by friends they don’t share the same mission with. They need to ensure that they get what they want in life rather than what life throws at them. With that, they can become great achievers. Speaking of Fashion, you have mentioned having a passion for it. What drives or inspires you in terms of creation? I stopped being a fashion designer 20 years ago but fashion is still my passion. Its inborn, I love clothing, shoes, bags everything that you see women embracing. You would always find women paying attention to fashion. That’s how we are, that’s how God created us.

R U O theMETALLIC TREND CO isGback n e e r d BY USIADE ISIOMA
Shiny metallic elements have made a great comeback this year. Wearing metallic is the best way to add an instant glam to your look. Metallic shoes, skirts, and even nails and lips will really look amazing when combined with neutral colours. This microtrend is about to give you all the nostalgia feeling. Just like the other trends re-emerging from the decade right now, this one is bound to be polarizing. Ready or not, metallic clothing is on the rise. It feels like real party clothing with a right amount of rock vibe and grunge touches. We would say it’s a glamorized grunge style with a feminine and super sexy twist. Metallics will surely make you noticed!

Bra band is the most important thing in a fitting bra. In a good bra, the band is not too tight or too loose, it feels just right, firmly clasped. Not digging into the skin and leaving marks or coming down and dancing around. If the band is over tight it can distort the natural shape of the breast (or cups) by pulling them down. The band on you should be parallel to the floor.

You know how to put the bra on you – this can change everything – If you do not, (and you will learn surprisingly that you
The bra, as we know it today, was actually invented over in France in the 1890s and was a natural progression of the corset. This particularly trendy piece of lingerie was split into two separate parts, with the majority of the material going to the bottom half of the bra to create a sort of high-waisted brief affair. The top part of this lingerie, which looks very similar to a standard bra, was called the corselet gorge. Just over thirty years later, retailers would start to sell this part of the lingerie as a stand-alone piece.
The word “bra” came along much later While what the French were making and selling looked very much like a bra, no one was calling it that back then. In fact, it wasn’t until 1907 when Vogue first used the word ‘brassiere’ in print. The word was added to the Oxford English Dictionary in 1911. Before that, these things had been given a range of intriguing names, such as the ‘bodice bundle’ or ‘BB’ for short. Soon enough, though, people around the world started referring to these items as brassieres and then later bras.
Cup sizes were invented in the 1930s
A little while after everyone got used to the bra, something incredible happened, just imagine how uncomfortable women were before the invention. Cup sizes were invented. In the 1930s, S. H. Camp and Company created a cup-sizing system that is similar to the one that we use today. The sizes were categorized according to their size and assigned a letter (A to D) to make things as easy as possible.
The average bra size is bigger than you think
Could you guess how big the average bra size is? Well, over the years, this specific size has grown and grown here in the US. In fact, the average size is now 36DD, a significant increase on previous years.

The first sports bra looked very different
Get ready to have your mind blown here. The first sports bra was not designed by some fabulous lingerie company, but by everyday women. Yes, according to rumours, during the 1970s, many women started fashioning their own version of what would become the modern-day sports bra. Apparently, they would do so by hooking two jockstraps together and using that instead of their bra! Luckily, the actual sports bra, as we know and love it today, hit stores in 1977. It was called the ‘Jogbra.’ Legend has it that the bra was created after a woman casually complained to a designer about how uncomfortable regular bras were when she was exercising.
You might be wearing the wrong size
You’ve probably heard that around 80% of women are wearing the wrong bra size. It’s true that many women are wearing the wrong size and it’s due to a number of different factors. Despite the fact that there is a whole load of information out there, many women don’t get measured often enough. Wearing an ill-fitting piece of lingerie means that your breasts won’t get the support that they seriously need. What’s more, it’s likely to be uncomfortable and means that you won’t feel as confident as you ought to. For that very reason, it’s essential that you get measured on a regular basis. Beat the odds and ensure that you are wearing the right size.
The Nipple bra in the 70’s
The 1970s were a different time. It was also a time when the nipple was considered an appropriate focal point for one’s look. Maidenform, riding the wave, created the first pointy bra, it was called the Chansonette bra. This style was destined to adorn every actress, pin up and woman of the 50s and determine that “aggressive” look in their busts. The cone shape was given by the spiral stitching, and it made the classic 40s shapes even more exaggerated. This has surely something to do with the WW II and its restrictions about nylon and fabrics.
More and more women are wearing FAKE nipple and they come in sizes ranging from ‘cold’ to ‘freezing’, they are taking the fashion world by storm, with some women even wearing the additions to make a political statement. If you’ve ever wanted to look really cold but stepped out and realised it’s just too warm, then this is the product for you because it makes you look cold, feel hot.

Apricot Mask and Oil
Apricots have great exfoliating tendencies, which make them very effective when it comes to healing stretch marks. Take 2-3 apricots, cut them and take out the seeds. Crush the fruit into a paste and apply this mask on the stretch mark affected areas and leave it on for 15 minutes. Using warm water, wash it off and then repeat the process every day for a month to see results. Pure apricot oil has skin rejuvenating properties and therefore helps in reducing stretch marks. Massage onto the skin with some lemon juice for effective results.
Sugar
Some people swear by sugar as a naturopathic microdermabrasion method. Rubbing a sugar scrub on the skin will exfoliate the area. To do this: 1. Mix one cup sugar with 1/4 cup of a softening agent, like almond oil or coconut oil, before mixing to the consistency of wet beach sand. 2. Add some lemon juice. 3. Scrub the mixture on the part of your body where the stretch marks are. 4. Repeat several times a week while in the shower, making sure to rub the mixture on for 8-10 minutes.
Castor Oil
Stretch marks, also called striae, happen when your skin changes shape rapidly due to growth or weight gain. But both men and women can get stretch marks. Pregnancy and puberty are the two most common causes of stretch marks. At first, a stretch mark will appear as a thin red or purple line on your skin that takes on a different texture than the surrounding skin layer. Eventually, most stretch marks fade and take on a lighter or almost translucent colouring, and become shiny. Getting rid of stretch marks in a completely natural way isn’t likely. They’re a type of scarring that rarely fades enough to become invisible. However, there are some remedies that can help minimize the appearance of stretch marks and help them to fade more quickly.
Because of their dried, shrivelled up look, stretch marks need nourishment and moisture. Castor oil when massaged onto the skin will help heal and smoothen the marks slowly. But this is something that you need to constantly feed the skin with.
Nourishing Skin Mask
There has been an incredible effect of the following nourishing mask in reducing stretch marks -
Aloe vera
While little clinical evidence exists for aloe vera as a stretch mark cure, pure aloe vera is both a natural healing agent and a skin softener. This makes it an ideal home remedy to try for stretch marks. Apply pure aloe vera from a plant to your stretch marks daily after your shower.
and if used during and after pregnancy, it makes the stretch marks disappear completely. The best time to use cocoa butter is at night, so massaging it well into the skin and over a period of time, you will find the stretch marks reducing and fading away.

Massage it on the skin regularly. This home remedy is absolutely natural, which means no harmful side-effects. Follow this remedy religiously and watch out for effective results.
