They say Style is innate and inherent in those that have it. Much as l agree with this, l beg to differ somewhat because Style is also a taste you can cultivate and acquire. I liken it to cooking. Some people can easily rustle up something from nothing at the drop of a hat and the dish will be delicious while others can spend hours in the kitchen only to come up with nothing short of tasting like a wet blanket. I guess that’s where the inherence comes in. If you have it, you have it. Fashion, as we all know, had been around forever and most times recycled. I personally remember my mum and her friends all adorned in the most beautiful dresses, most of which, if l could get hold of, would still get second glances almost 40 years later. Vintage clothes never go out of fashion and in fact, there is a huge market out there for such pieces. The funny thing is that they don’t come cheap! Over the years, we have seen many people grace our magazine, the red carpet and numerous events adorned in the most spectacular creations. The men are not left behind either as they continue to push the buttons albeit ever so subtly. But those who know, know. The good thing about people who know how to dress well is that they can make anything from $50-$5,000 look fabulous on them because of the way they put the pieces together. What makes them exciting to watch is how they pull off their different looks. For me, the most exciting category here is the Avant-garde segment because their wardrobe is always a kaleidoscope of colours and most exciting finds. Their rich and exotic collections usually come from pieces they have accumulated from all corners of the world. They are not afraid to push the buttons and if anything, light up the room anytime they show up in their flamboyant attires. That is not to say the other segments are not just as interesting. They most definitely are. One thing this edition proves is just how fashionable Nigerians are and how far they are willing to exercise that flair. Kudos to those who continue to bring a sparkle to our days with their most exciting looks!

Yusuf And Zahra Tie The Knot The most anticipated wedding of the year between Fatiha of Yusuf Buhari, the son of the President Muhammadu Buhari , and Zahra Bayero, the daughter of Nasiru Ado Bayero, the Emir of Bichi, took place in Kano State on Friday, 20th August. The ceremony, which was officiated by the Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Dr Isa Ali Pantami, had in attendance the who-is-who in the Nigerian political and business circles as well as members of the diplomatic community. Standing as the groom’s trustee was the president’s uncle, Mamman Daura, while Kano-based business mogul, Aminu Dantata, stood as the bride’s trustee. Prior to the Big Day, President Buhari had dispatched a high-level delegation to Kano State on Thursday. Also, to ensure a hitch-free event, The Emir of Bichi, father of the bride, had inaugurated a 145-man committee. We at Thisday Style wish the couple a happy married life

With a knack for quirky ensembles that still look effortlessly polished, these young men and women are the trendsetters of today. It is a familiar sight, seeing people scroll through their Instagram feed for fashion inspirations. And we are not too shy to admit that we also do that too.

Nevertheless, we have scoured far and wide and have been able to round up our list to a 100 of our favourite fashionistas, who stand out from the crowd thanks to their impeccable style sense and creativity. MOVIE STARS Light, Camera, Action!!! Do they look as stunning off-screen as they do on-screen? Yes!!! While most movie stars have access to an entire glam team and endless stylists on speed dial, some rise above the rest when it comes to their personal style -both on and off the red carpet - which is something that can only come from a combination of self-confidence and a keen eye for design.

This is the category that constantly leaves us gasping. The most adventurous of the style types, the avant-garde person sees fashion as wearable art rather than clothing. Feathers, sequins, denim, chain mail - anything is fair game for this crew of fashion lovers and forward thinkers, showing that sometimes a dose of daring is the best accessory. They adore playing with shapes, proportions and colour. They don’t skimp on accessories either. Most of their pieces are statement-making and fashion-forward. Regardless of all the craziness going on, it all comes together to create a sleek and balanced look which is why they have earned a position on our list. When they hit the carpet, expect the unexpected.

CHANGEMAKERS These Changemakers make it their business to look fabulous whilst leading the way for citizens of the world, tackling the modern-day challenges we face as a collective or just generally making a mark in their chosen field. Yes, we know impact is about a lot more than fashion, but the clothes we choose are a powerful marketing tool and say a lot about the message we want to communicate. Fashion is power, a power to connect in the simplest ways, and a well-dressed person has the power to influence and inspire. When it comes to that, one can’t help but notice how these changemakers have the ability to carry off everything!
These bright young things are well on their way to becoming stars in their own right and boy, are they doing it in style. They have thoroughly impressed us with their smart, sharp style moves that could inspire anyone to step up their wardrobe game. They constantly have their best foot forward, with the most daring trends and elegant, refined everyday style choices. Take notes, guys. These are the ones to watch.

Musicians, may get famous for their music, but their sense of style are another iconic part of their personas and performances. It runs much deeper than standout sunglasses or the usual bling. The most stylish musicians are the ones who not only look good on stage but who also do so with an underlying cool factor that’s practically palpable. These right here have us following their lead and mimicking their distinctive styles in front of our mirrors at home.

Think about colours and patterns
Accessories are a great way to add a pop of colour to a simple outfit. Bright colours and animal prints can be difficult to work into your wardrobe, but vibrant, fun accessories like shoes, a belt, or a scarf can elevate your look. JUJU

Use accessories to transform an outfit
Accessories are an easy way to take an outfit from the office to dinner with friends. A pair of statement earrings, cocktail ring, colourful shoe and bag with sunnies will get you ready for a fun night out. Have a few go-to accessories in mind for those moments you’re not able to do a full outfit change. MARII PAZZ
Accessorizing is a way to spice up your outfits by incorporating smaller pieces, like jewelry and shoes, into your look. Fashion accessories are pieces that, although they serve practical functions, are chosen to complement the rest of an outfit with finishing touches. It is all about balance, and the right accessories can make even the most basic outfit look glam, it also allows you to add new energy to the old standbys in your capsule wardrobe. Here are few tips to take note of when choosing your accessories.
Your accessories don’t need to match Matching accessories can read more conservative than fashion-forward. If you’re not sure which colours go together, start by adding one colourful accessory to a base of neutrals. Then, use to use the colour wheel to get new ideas for bold combinations. JARIATU DANITA

Choose a signature accessory
If you feel overwhelmed by accessory options, choose just one statement piece that makes you feel great and that you can wear with multiple outfits. When you’re ready to add more accessories, create balance by choosing one piece to dominate your look in terms of size or colour, then layer on more subtle accessories. ANGEL OBASI
