Remembering MohBad
It’s been an overwhelmingly emotional week for young Nigerians, especially with the mysterious passing of the beloved rapper and singer MohBad. It’s always heart-wrenching to witness a young talent taken away so prematurely, especially one whose lyrics have touched the very soul of our nation.
But amidst the grief, I have to commend the unity and strength of our youth. Whenever they decide to rally behind a cause, their collective spirit is formidable. It’s always a heartwarming reminder of how closely-knit we are during times of crisis. genuinely hope our authorities delve deep into the turn of events surrounding his passing and provide clarity and justice where it’s due.
MohBad might not be with us physically, but he undeniably lives on through his lyrics. His music is an indelible mark, a legacy that reminds us of his brilliance and the power of Afrobeat. Unfortunately, this tragic event has shed light on some dark corners of our music industry. While jealousy, competition, and financial disagreements are commonplace in many sectors, some incidents within this space come across as particularly unsettling. It’s a challenging reality to confront, especially when we consider the passion and creativity that flows through the veins of this industry. So how do we move forward? While there might not be an immediate fix, we can begin by empowering our young artists with knowledge. They must be cautious about the agreements they enter into. On the flip side, music label owners should prioritise fairness, transparency, and genuine support for their artists. After all, in the world of Afrobeat, a victory for one artist is a triumph for the entire genre.
Shifting gears slightly - what’s your Sunday saying? Do take a moment to indulge in the paper. If you are in Lagos and thinking of dining out, you should check out the array of restaurant deals. I particularly like the article on love languages. It got me thinking. Are love languages innate, or do we develop them over time? More importantly, is the relationship doomed if our partners don’t speak our love language? I would love to hear your perspective on this.
As we head into a new week, hope it brings us joy, clarity and healing.
Remember to cherish every moment, support each other and let love lead the way. Wishing everyone a peaceful and happy week ahead.
Love,

WHAT IS YOUR LOVE LANGUAGE?
Love is a universal language that binds us all, and knowing your love language is essential to developing romantic and platonic relationships in life. Gary Chapman, who popularised the term “love languages,” says there are many ways in which people express and receive love, and learning your partner’s and friends’ love languages will help enhance your relationships and build lasting bonds and friendships. Let’s go through the five distinct love languages and figure out which one speaks to you the most.
By Funke Babs-Kufeji
Words of Affirmation: For individuals whose primary love language is words of affirmation, verbal appreciation and encouragement are paramount. By expressing love through kind words, compliments, and affirmations, individuals who resonate with this love language feel valued and cherished. Simple phrases like “I love you,” “You’re doing an amazing job,” or “I appreciate you” can have a profound impact on their emotional well-being.
Quality time: Undivided attention is the key to the hearts of people with this love language. Being fully present and engaged in the moment is crucial to them. Whether it’s engaging in meaningful conversations, going on walks together, or planning special date nights, setting aside distractions and dedicating time solely to them can foster intimacy and strengthen their emotional bond.
Acts of service: Actions speak louder than words for those whose love language is acts of service. These individuals feel loved when their partner goes out of their way to help or support them. This entails carrying out deeds that demonstrate love and care, like preparing food, doing laundry, or running errands. By actively showing their commitment through actions, partners can strengthen the bond and create a sense of security.
Receiving gifts: Receiving gifts as a love language is not about the monetary value but
the thought and effort behind the gesture. Exchanging tangible tokens of love and consideration, like flowers, chocolates, or other meaningful gifts, can speak volumes. These gifts become symbols of love and reminders of the person who gave them. They show that someone cares deeply and wants to make you feel special.
Physical Touch: Physical touch is a powerful love language that includes hugs, kisses, holding hands, and other forms of non-sexual physical affection. For individuals who resonate with this love language, physical touch is a vital part of feeling safe, secure, and loved. A gentle touch on the arm or a warm embrace can convey love and support more profoundly than words. Physical touch fosters emotional connection, intimacy, and a sense of belonging.
It is important to remember that everyone has a primary and secondary love language, which may differ from ours. By actively learning and practising these love languages, we can ensure that our efforts to express love are received and appreciated by recognising and speaking our partner’s love language, creating an environment of love, understanding, and fulfilment, leading to stronger and more meaningful relationships.
LEMON GREEN: One might expect this colour to steal all the shine, but what it really does is draw more attention to your skin. Its bright and citrusy hue adds a pop of vibrancy and liveliness to darker complexions, creating a youthful and energetic appearance.
ROYAL BLUE: Whether it’s a dress or a suit, this colour has an inherent regal quality that enhances the natural beauty and radiance of darker complexions.
ORANGE: Orange is the new red. When it comes to dark skin, orange gives off a neon-ish look, making you feel seen and sexy. We highly recommend an orange slip dress for date night.
GOLDEN YELLOW: This shade of yellow provides the perfect bright and sunny contrast to dark skin. This contrast suggests glow and positivity and uniquely makes your dark skin pop.
CHOCOLATE BROWN: Of all the colours mentioned, this is the closest to a dark skin tone. However, it is a rich, earthy colour that beautifully enhances the natural warmth and depth of darker skin tones.

I’m here to sell my more than 30 businesses to the world. Even Dangote still dey find money and Coca-Cola still dey do advert.
How do you maintain authenticity and stay true to yourself while participating in a reality TV show?
IYABO OJO
What’s your favourite thing about being on The Real Housewives of Lagos?
My favourite thing about being on The Real Housewives of Lagos is the opportunity it offers my fans to get to know the real me.
The Real Housewives franchise’s success depends on each cast member’s contribution. What unique qualities and strengths do you bring to the show?
My ability to go from 0 to 1 trillion real quick!
You’re no stranger to the spotlight. You joined the show to share more about your life. However, do you have any boundaries when it comes to sharing your personal life and relation-
A goldfish has no hiding place. am not one to lie to myself or the people around me. If you stay a minute with me and you don’t fall in love with my personality, there’s something wrong somewhere. am the easiest person on earth, but if you bring it, bring more! I also bring authenticity to fashion. My creative fashion style is uncommon in Nigeria, but it’s always noticeable when I step into a room. I am a trendsetter and fashion-forward; anything create is always a masterpiece. I stay true to my style and my beliefs; I don’t let anyone distract me, and don’t copy. set the bar, and I am a game changer. So many struggle to be seen, but I stay true to myself, and this has helped me stand out.
Your season 1 wardrobe left a lasting impression on the audience. We’re curious: Do you think your outfits this season will be up to par or even better than the back-to-back creations you sported during the last season? How much thought goes into planning your looks?
My transformer dresses wowed a lot of viewers at the beach. They don’t call me the fashion goddess or the king of fashion for fun. If it’s not Tiannah, it can never be Tiannah. This season, I’m giving you a peep into my ARTISTIC WORLD. It’s all about the art! will leave your mouths gasping for air with all my confessional pieces. The skull outfit I wore in the promo video already has tongues wagging.
Have you been involved in any business ventures or entrepreneurial pursuits outside of the show? If so, can you tell us more about them?
Do you think they call me Madam 33 Business for nothing?
Typing “Tiannah” into the search bar on any social media platform pulls up all my businesses and their various social media handles. Tiannah’s Place Empire has 33 businesses under its wings, including Tiannah’s Glow Products, Elegante by Tiannah Styling, Elegante Kid, and Amaladotcom. Then there is Tiannah’s Productions, Tiannah’s Styling Fashion Academy, Tiannah’s Home and Furnishing Ltd., and much more, and I’m here to sell it all.

MARIAM TIMMER
What’s your favourite thing about being on The Real Housewives of Lagos?
I love numerous aspects of being on The Real Housewives of Lagos, but if I had to choose one, it would be witnessing the different dynamics among the ladies and observing how everything plays out.
Regardless of anything, the show is fun for me. do not allow it to affect my regular day-to-day life, so I take it as it comes.
Can you share any funny or light-hearted moments that have happened during filming?
For me, one of the season’s funniest moments occurred while was spending time with my daughter. She always puts a smile on my face. She’s my joy.
As for the light-hearted moments, episode 4 stands out in particular. I can’t give all the details, so you’ll just have to watch the show. However, can assure you that found the entire episode entertaining.
Have you been involved in any business ventures or entrepreneurial pursuits outside of the show? If so, can you tell us more about them?
I have engaged in other ventures and, above all, pursued a new career beyond #RHOLagos. Before the show, I was and still am a PR executive at SixSixteen Agency and the creator of Lure Beauty and Lure Fashion.
I’m now pursuing a career in health care, which have been passionate about since childhood. Recently, I completed a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) course in Georgia, USA. Next year, will start my journey towards becoming a registered nurse (RN).
I am extremely happy about the journey I am currently embarking on. Even though it’s hard—lots of reading, patience, and attention to detail—there’s nothing I can’t do; therefore, am ready.
I have always been that person who loves to set goals for herself, and I have always enjoyed seeing myself accomplish those goals. Like I always say, “Great things must be done with a great mind, great courage, and great persistence and patience.”
Why the medical field?
When was younger, I was entertained by the idea of entering the healthcare field, but at the time, my fear of everything it stood for stopped me from pursuing it further.
Let’s say I overcame my fear; nothing can stop me now. I am excited about this new chapter of my life and look forward to learning and practising more.
LAURA IKEJIKANU
Have you faced any challenges or difficulties because of being on the show?
How have you overcome them?
The main challenge I faced after the show’s first season was dealing with the change in
how people perceived me. I went from being known as the happy girl to someone who supposedly had bad energy. I hated that narrative because it was untrue. My soul is pure and radiates positivity.
It could be argued that you were somewhat of a social outsider and instigator of issues in the previous season. Do you feel that your relationship with the cast has improved this season?
Social outsider and instigator of issues? When did being real become “instigating issues”? I don’t recall instigating any issues. I was just too real.
Congratulations on your pregnancy, Laura! Can we expect to witness any of this joyous journey on the show?
Thanks so much! I’m so excited about having my third child. About seeing the journey on the show, well, you’ll have to watch to find out.
Have you been involved in any business ventures or entrepreneurial pursuits outside of the show? If so, can you tell us more about them?
just opened a beauty store on Admiralty Way in Lekki, Phase I. Laura Beauty is the place to be if you love everything beauty. We sell our name-brand products alongside other makeup brands.
CHIOMA IKOKWU
What’s your favourite thing about being on The Real Housewives of Lagos?
My favourite thing about being on The Real Housewives of Lagos is the fact that I get the opportunity to showcase, in an authentic format, the strength, versatility, and tenacity of Nigerian women on a globally acclaimed platform.
believe that it is important for the world to witness our culture, diversity, character, talent, resourcefulness, family values, and fashion sense.
am also grateful that I can showcase other parts of my personality in addition to my social media platform and promote my entrepreneurial prowess to the extent the show permits.
How do you handle the demands of filming and being a part of the show while also managing your personal responsibilities and commitments?
It is quite difficult juggling it all, as have a lot going on in my personal life and professionally. am involved in multiple businesses, both in Nigeria and internationally. work as a lawyer and serve as the CEO of GoodHairLtd and Brass & Copper Restaurant. I have an upcoming fashion venture in the works. I also actively run the Good Way Foundation and dedicate time to maintaining a fun and impactful social media presence! All this, combined with our hectic filming schedule, is near impossible.
am also extremely family-oriented and have a network of great friends, and that comes with its demands, not to mention my love life! Some days, pray for a clone because it gets pretty overwhelming.
That being said, I must give credit to my amazing team that has stuck with me through the years, with whom I have learned to delegate and transfer some heavy lifting, as I’m quite the perfectionist. This has definitely made my life a tad easier and helped ease my commitment burden on the work front.
am also very intentional about creating a healthy work-life balance, as what profits a man if he gains the world but loses the very essence of his being? And most importantly, my family has been amazing throughout this journey. Simply being able to offload to them at the end of a long day is all the psychological
therapy need. They say when your mind is right, your body follows suit.
Is it safe to say that your punctuality has improved, both on the show and in real life? You promised to work on this after you won the Best Latecomer Award during the reunion show, especially as your habit of arriving late often sparked arguments throughout the first season.
In all honesty, don’t think I realised the impact my “late coming” had on other people, especially when it impacted their activities. Watching back made me realise how inconsiderate it appeared, and I can confidently and categorically tell you now that I am a changed person both on and off the show.
As a matter of fact, this season, I was never the last to arrive. On some occasions, I’d even arrive first and have to wait for others, which gave me further clarity on how frustrating it is to have to wait for people.
I’ve also mathematically calculated how long it takes me to get ready and devised faster ways to do this, such as preparing the night before or allocating more time for my glam process. This guarantees that show up ON POINT and ON TIME!
Have you been involved in any business ventures or entrepreneurial pursuits outside of the show? If so, can you tell us more about them?
Absolutely! I’ve found a way to effectively fund my foundation and promote sustainability with my fashion through the birth of Chioma’s Closet, a fashion venture I’ve been working on where I sell my pre-loved luxury and non-luxury items to women worldwide. All proceeds will be used to carry out further projects to support the less privileged in our society through the Goodway Foundation.
My style is a huge part of my identity, and I am happy that finally get to share this with the world. I’ve also collaborated with a few Nigerian designers on beautiful collections in a bid to further put Africa on the map, and I hope to do the same with other talented designers all over Africa who deserve a global audience. In addition, we will launch a diffusion hairline for the younger demographic who have loved and supported Good Hair over the years but have not been able to afford it. look forward to launching both brands as my team and have worked tirelessly to curate the best quality products and customer experience with the utmost passion and a sprinkle of love.
FAITH MOREY
What’s your favourite thing about being on The Real Housewives of Lagos?
It’s a bit difficult to pick one, so here are a few that stand out. Firstly, I enjoyed sharing my story about my struggles and my beautiful life as a mother. Staying stylish throughout the season also brought me immense pleasure. Finally, the production team was super amazing!
Before the show, you were a private person. How comfortable was it for you to share your personal life, including relationships, family dynamics, and financial situations, on a reality TV show?
From my first diary session, you could tell was still getting used to having so many cameras and people around. It made me not only nervous but also tense and edgy. However, saw this platform as an opportunity to share a glimpse of my life, showing others the real struggles we all face daily. You get to see the smiles, the challenges of being a single and working-class mom, family dynamics, friendships, and happy and trying moments. Nevertheless, everyone will agree that some aspects of our lives
should remain private.
What message or impression do you hope to leave with viewers of The Real Housewives of Lagos?
Embarking on this journey, there was one message I knew was very important to share with our viewers: that you can achieve anything you set your mind to, and I am a perfect example of that.
Faith Morey, the young Ikwerre girl from Port Harcourt, Rivers State, dared to dream and hope for a better life. A life she only saw while watching old American movies through her neighbour’s windows. Today, she is fulfilling those dreams.
Have you been involved in any business ventures or entrepreneurial pursuits outside of the show? If so, can you tell us more about them?
I am working with a few government bodies to eradicate one of our biggest issues in Nigeria: the power shortage. We are currently installing our second batch of solar panels in the country and are in talks to fully integrate SunPower into Nigeria’s energy infrastructure. The support we have received thus far has been remarkable, as it has allowed us to educate people about the benefits of renewable energy and its potential to improve our quality of life. As someone who experienced firsthand what it was like to have only four hours or less of electricity per month while growing up, working on this project brings me enormous joy.
TANIA OMOTAYO
What’s your favourite thing about being on The Real Housewives of Lagos?
Being around wellachieved, strong women who are pioneers in their own lanes was one of my favourite things about being on the show.
The Real Housewives franchise’s success depends on each cast member’s contribution. What unique qualities and strengths do you bring to the show? brought a multifaceted woman—a mother, a wife, an author, and an entrepreneur—to the show. Regardless of how it may come across, stayed true to myself and never faked anything.
You’re no stranger to the spotlight. You joined the show to share more about your life. However, do you have any boundaries when it comes to sharing your personal life and relationships on the show?
Naturally, everyone has their boundaries when it comes to their personal lives. But this is the most open I’ve ever been publicly.
Have you been involved in any business ventures or entrepreneurial pursuits outside of the show? If so, can you tell us more about them?
own a women’s ready-to-wear brand called Ziva Lagos and Ziva Kids, a kids’ concept store. We have stores in Lagos and Abuja and are currently building a third.
Aside from being a serial entrepreneur, I wrote a children’s book called Sarai’s Culture Day and ventured into acting.
As a strong supporter of women, I founded an NGO called Growth Forum Africa. It is a social impact organisation that seeks to provide an environment that enables women to thrive in their chosen fields of endeavour by providing them with the necessary tools and skills to harness their passions and possibly turn these passions into a means of livelihood.

– ANDERSON EDEWOR
Interview By Oroma Jumbo
Step into the extraordinary world of Anderson Edewor, a self-taught interior designer who has made a name for himself in the industry. Known for his keen eye for detail and his unique ability to transform rejected items into stunning decor pieces, Anderson’s innovative approach to design has earned him a stellar reputation. His projects are a testament to his exceptional uses of colour and patterns and his commitment to sustainability through the use of recycled materials.
Anderson serves as the mastermind behind ADD+ and holds positions in multiple companies within its group. He serves as the creative director for S.ea. consulting, its interior design division. This is where some of his imaginative concepts come to fruition. But Anderson’s sense of style extends far beyond interior design. With a background in fashion, he is a style icon in his own right. In fact, he has recently launched 3os.stores, a new menswear store, to share his passion for fashion with the world.
Join us as we delve into the mind of this brilliant and multifaceted artist.
You shifted from the field of physics to fashion and then business and ultimately found your passion in interior design. Tell us about your personal and professional journey. What inspired these decisions?
I have always liked fashion, so that was a natural progression. The demand for my unique style and taste in interior design is what sparked the beginning of my business. I’ll elaborate:
I was born in Delta State. After completing primary education in Warri, I continued my studies in the Benin Republic before attending the University of Port Harcourt, where graduated from the Department of Geophysics. During this time, Shopaholics, a well-known retail store, came into existence. Taking a leap of faith, I got a space for fashion. While we were in business, people started asking about the designer behind its aesthetics. This led to receiving offers for interior design projects - interior design chose me.
Following graduation from university, enrolled in fashion school and simultaneously established #1, a 5-bedroom boutique hotel in Port Harcourt called #1. Since then, things have only gotten busier as demand continues unabated.
Despite this success, I wasn’t sure if I wanted to stick with fashion or interior design. The first few weeks I spent reflecting on this dilemma at Lagos Business School made me realise that both fields could be combined effectively under one umbrella: an image consulting firm wherein both fashion and interior design harmoniously coexist.
The path towards this decision is attributed mainly to clients and audiences, who played influential roles along the way; their support helped solidify what felt right for me. I was chosen for this.
What was once my interest and hobby eventually became my profession. Now, am fortunate enough to be paid for bringing my imaginative ideas into reality.
How did you approach learning interior design on your own? - Please share your process and experiences of self-teaching interior design. Explain the steps you took, the resources you utilised, and any challenges or breakthroughs you encountered along the way. Include
details about the specific skills or techniques you focused on learning and how you applied your knowledge to practical projects. How would you describe your style of design now?
I have always had an eye for good things, and being somewhat of a semiperfectionist, it was like plug-and-play. immersed myself in architectural books and sought advice from friends. I educated myself on using measuring tapes and floor plans, conducted local market research, and started a ‘design for less’ account.
To be honest, you don’t need many resources to start an interior design business. Use your space as your first canvas and post photos online. Because I was sure I wanted to be a solution in the industry, I understood that achieving this goal would only be possible with the assistance of a team of architects. I rented a space in Lekki Phase 1, hired two architects to join me, and started sharing my ideas with them for visual presentations. That was it. My challenge was that my team felt was too fast for them, and it was a struggle because could multitask so well, but they consistently required my physical presence on-site to work the magic.
I had to learn about the following:
- Procurement
- Reviewing detailed working drawings
- Bill of quantity
- Project management
- Consultancy
- Creative thinking in solving problems
- Contractor listing
- Branding
My approach to design has always revolved around upcycling and waste management, which apply to practical projects. As an Eco designer, I embrace a style that can be described as ‘organised chaos’. What draws me to commercial design is the satisfaction of witnessing how it brings joy to people’s lives.
Since the inception of S.ea.consulting, you have been a part of the team. How did you navigate your way through the interior design industry and expand your portfolio of clients?
Honestly, clients kept coming because they wanted to stand out. Our projects possess a unique quality that sets them apart.
Your work frequently incorporates reused plastics, wood, and metals. You skillfully convert ordinary objects into works of art. What inspired you to take a recycling approach to design?
I’m attracted to objects that people cast aside. Figuring out how to get them accepted is something that gives me joy. I guess that’s the artistic gift I have.
You’ve completed a number of impressive projects. What are your top three memorable interior projects, and what was the thought process behind them?
Throughout our history, we’ve only ever had successful destination projects. It would be impossible to go into details about them all, but to name a few favourites, I’ll say:
• See_Lagos (Restaurant)
• Stillbrokeofficial (Fashion store)
• Timaya’s Penthouse
What upcoming trends or innovations in interior design do you find exciting or intriguing? find myself particularly drawn to two: artistic expression and maximalism.
What are your future plans and aspirations for your design career? want to own my own commercial spaces and live in my creations.
You recently revisited your fashion roots by launching your latest business venture, 3OS (Official Lifestyle) Stores. Given your background, this move doesn’t come as a shock to many. Now let’s discuss the store itself. Who is your target audience, and what products do you offer?
am so ashamed that I returned to fashion, but returned with a twist. My target market is people who are looking for the best locally-made items in the realms of fashion, art, and design. 3Os.stores is a concept store that encompasses elements such as ready-to-wear clothing, a creative lab, a photography studio, an exhibition gallery, a garden, and a pop-up room for creatives to express themselves (we can refer to it as a sanctuary for artistic exploration).
Within our inventory lies a selection of pieces from designers like EmmyKasbit, UgoMonye, Stillbroke, 1407, Gdwn, Champ, Rimac, Pettre Taylor, Mancave, TRAX, JZo, and TZAR.
We are also proud to house talented videographers, photographers such as Ojmayana and 1HundredVisuals, and in-house artists like Addey_the_designer, markofalltrades, and sketch, to mention a few.
Your resume continues to expand as you maintain involvement with other companies within the ADD+ umbrella. Can you provide insight into ADD+, the parent company overseeing S.ea.consulting and 3Os?
ADD+ is Anderson Oghogho Edewor, popularly called addey_d_designer. He is the driving force behind all the great brands within the S.EA.group. The “+” represents the constant expansion and growth that lies ahead. So far, we have given birth to: S.ea.consulting (interior architectural firm)
• S.ea.homes (furniture manufacturing and decor products)
• S.ea.experience (hospitality chain)
• S.ea.mart (retail store)
• 3Os.stores (concept store)
• Ian Carson and Joel Anderson (fashion brands)
How do you balance your many roles as a creative director of S.ea. consulting and board member for multiple companies? What challenges and rewards come with these positions?
My challenges are working with non-creatives, team exposure, and our educational sector.
For a mind that gets bored quickly, multitasking makes me bloom. Managing the companies with the right team makes the dream work. The rewards they offer me are inner peace, fulfilment, having people appreciate creation, and being part of interior designers’ journeys through our
“You don’t need many resources to start an interior design business. Use your space as your first canvas and post photos online.”
