focus on “Goods from the Woods” awaits all at this year’s Festival of Wood lumbering into Grey Towers National Historic Site this weekend, August 1 and 2. Aged 11 years to perfection, FW guests will find various crafts and activities focusing on the wonders of wood in everyday living to chip away the day. Considered “a celebration of our natural and cultural heritage of wood” it’s only fitting that Grey Towers, the ancestral home of Gifford Pinchot founder and first chief of our nation’s Forest Service, serve as host.

The PA Woodmobile will be “planted” onsite inviting all for a tour into the ways of wood. Interesting displays on tree pruning and a portable sawmill, join Master Chain Saws of America carving out their own unique demonstrations three times a day. Free parking, shuttle and admission lay the groundwork for building monumental family memories so don’t miss it. The festival runs 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and 10-4 Sunday. For a schedule of events or more information call (570) 296-9630 or visit www. greytowers.org.

Melody, beauty and aroma splinter off the seemingly endless applications of wood. From musical instruments, chain saw carved art and unique crafts, to children’s game workings; the splendor of wood is a sight to be had.
