the Greene-Dreher-Sterling Fair Fill the final days of summer with some fun at the fair! The Greene-Dreher-Sterling (GDS) fair is going on now through September 3 at the GDS fairgrounds in Newfoundland. The family-friendly celebration features agricultural exhibits, food, rides and entertainment all weekend. See the Big Things Band in the pavilion on Saturday, or watch the baby pageant at 3 p.m. There will be a youth turkey calling contest in the barn at 5 p.m. and a performance by the NoMad Country Band in the arena. Sunday and Monday’s events include tractor pulls, kids’ pedal-pull contests and great music in the pavilion. There will be a farm crop auction on Monday as well as a dog show and a demolition derby. Gates open at 9 a.m. Friday through Monday. Admission is $8 and includes access to rides, exhibits and most arena events. LA FESTA ITALIANA

Don’t miss Northeast Pennsylvania’s largest celebration of culture and cuisine! La Festa Italiana will take place in Scranton’s Courthouse Square from Saturday, September 1 through Monday, September 3. La Festa Italiana is an end-of-summer tradition that attracts thousands of visitors every year. This year, the festival will host approximately 70 vendors offering everything from delicious Italian cuisine to authentic arts and crafts. Continuous entertainment is scheduled throughout the weekend and will include performances by musicians, magicians, dancers and more. There will be a fireworks display on Saturday at 9:30 p.m. Festival hours are 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday, and 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Monday. Admission is free. COTA Jazz Festival The 35th annual Delaware Water Gap Celebration of the Arts (COTA) Jazz and Arts Festival will take place on September 7 through 9. This year’s celebration features a fantastic lineup of talented musicians. Waverly Antiques Show and Sale The final Waverly Antiques Show and Sale will take place at the Waverly Community House on Saturday, September 15 and Sunday, September 16. The 18th Annual Pocono Garlic Festival

It’s a legendary local favorite with a kick! The 18th annual Pocono Garlic Festival returns to the Shawnee Mountain Ski Area on Saturday, September 1 and Sunday, September 2 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. This year’s festival is bursting with garlic-themed food and fun for everyone. More than 60 vendors will be on site offering garlic-filled food, drinks, desserts and novelties. Featured dishes this year include garlic potato pancakes, garlic spanikopita and even garlic ice cream! And for the bravest of festival guests, this year’s newest event offers the chance to become garlic royalty. Contestants will chow down on whole cloves of raw garlic for the chance to be crowned King or Queen of the Garlic Eating Contest. The event is scheduled for Saturday at 2:30. Forms and information are available online. Entertainment is all around at the festival. There will be two concert stages, a children’s area and an educational tent in addition to the strolling entertainers set to perform all weekend.
