This Week’s Fun Fact comes from The Bushkill Falls Gang. Did you know... When making homemade apple butter, 7 copper pennies (pre-1980) are stirred into a monstrous 45 gallon copper kettle. Simmering with a combination 30 gallons of apple sauce & 4 gallons of apple cider along with small diced apple cubes; the coins keep the “butter” from burning. A stirring detail indeed! Don’t miss their free demonstration then pickup a jar for a small fee. It may merely be a matter of pennies?! It makes cents to see for yourself.

Pumpkin PlaY A

fabulous fall adventure is in the forecast, as the Great Pocono Pumpkin Festival returns to Country Junction September 27 through October 26 just off Route 209 in Lehighton. Considered the “Largest Pumpkin Festival in the Poconos” this annual event keeps getting bigger and better every year! GPPF’s latest Pirate Ship playground is set to ignite young buccaneers’ imaginations with the art of sword fighting. A-mazeing excitement is around every turn of the new obstacle course; with Freezin mountainslide set to offer a chilling ride to those who

dare. Heard enough? Not Yet-i? Seek Sasquatch in the festival’s new Enchanted Woods or take a captivating journey through the Magic Garden. While these attractions are sure to attract a crowd; the familiar faves still ring in the repeats. Favorites including unlimited Daytime Hayrides host fun for all with Trick or Treating. Along with Pony rides, treasure digs and bouncies continue to promise hours of daylight delight for the little ones! The gourd grenade and paintball range feature themed targets including a mummy set to stir up

the adrenaline. Weekends continue inviting all to unlimited rides at the Midway for $8.00 per person. If heart pounding thrills of the scary sort are craved; every Friday and Saturday in October delivers, with unforgettable frights from 7 to 11 p.m. The haunting Waldorf Hotel hayride and walk dares those who stare through the darkness close enough to see the sights that go bump in the night. Planning the perfect Jack-OLantern? Thoughts of fresh pumpkin pie? Choose from 1000s of pounds of field pumpkins weighing from 5 to 50 pounds, each starting at $3.00 on up!

The Great Pocono Pumpkin Festival runs daily from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Call (610) 377-8400 or check out www.countryjunction.com for more information.
