Steamtown NHS Holiday Events The Canadian Pacific Railway (CPR) US Holiday Train, on its goodwill journey for local food shelves, will stop at Steamtown National Historic Site in Scranton on November 26 from 5:45pm to 6:15pm; gather trackside to greet this spectacular, 14-car train! Entertainers ride in vintage private cars, hop out, climb aboard a boxcar which opens into a stage, and perform and lead a sing-along. Your donation of money and/or nonperishable food goes directly to the United Neighborhood Centers of Northeast Pennsylvania. Now in its 13th year, the CPR presents a gift check at each stop; see www.cpr.ca. Steamtown NHS and the Lackawanna Historical Society present Model Trains for All Ages. On November 27, view a Marklin winter train display and an exhibit by exclusive Lionel artist Angela Trotta Thomas. On December 3 & 4, see and learn about a live steam Garden Railroad. On December 10 & 11, join an Ask the Expert session highlighting the challenges and rewards of maintaining your own model train collection. December 17 & 18 are Lionel Days! Enjoy a 1950s Lionel Christmas display, a visit from Santa, plus documentaries and films. Scranton Limited short train rides operate Wednesday through Sunday ‘til December 2. Come to the Tree Lighting in Stroudsburg! Hear ye, hear ye! Come one, come all to the annual Tree Lighting in Courthouse Square in charming downtown Stroudsburg! The Kiwanis Club of the Poconos–Daybreak will offer a variety of hand-crafted local landmark ornaments for sale, and Santa will set up shop in Courthouse Square, ready to hear your holiday wishes and pose for photos. Traditional Christmas caroling will set a yuletide mood, followed by the lighting of the magnificent tree in Courthouse Square by Mayor Baughman and his family. Enjoy beautiful decorations as you stroll along Main Street and shop in the quality merchants, boutiques, and galleries, or ride around town the oldfashioned way in a Sugar Mountain horse-drawn carriage. If you ever had an interest in flying, now’s the time! Become a member of the region’s only flying club

Pocono Mountains Flying Club The purpose of this non-profit club is to encourage all types of flying, training, education and camaraderie. The Pocono Mountains Flying Club provides unique membership opportunities that include the use of a Cessna 150 airplane at $50 per hour, wet. Additionally, FAA approved flight instructors (CFI) will be available to all members for an additional fee of $30 per hour. There are now two options for anyone wishing to become a member of the club. A 90 day membership is available for a ‘buy in’ of $500.00 which allows for 10 hours of plane rent at $50/hr wet to be used within 90 days. (This $50/hr charge is not part of the $500.00 ‘buy in’.) There are no monthly dues for this membership. By the conclusion of the 90 day period the membership may be converted to a full membership for a refundable $1700.00. This membership may not be resold and voting rights are precluded in this membership. Full membership requires a refundable $2200.00 ‘buy-in’ and dues of $50 per month.
