OLD TIME CHRISTMAS

You’re invited to the Quiet Valley Living Historical Farm 21st Annual Old Time Christmas event on Saturdays and Sundays, December 3rd, 4th, 10th, and 11th. Guides in period attire will lead you through the farm; be sure to dress warmly. Your first stop will be at a rustic cabin where preparations for Christmas in the 1890s will greet you. Delight in the sight of the Christmas Putz, a Moravian tradition of placing the crèche and a miniature village complete with houses, stores, people, animals, and scenery under a decorated tree. In the barnyard, an inspirational living Nativity scene with animals brings the true meaning of the season to life. In the Granddaddy Cabin, a storyteller will warm your heart and, as the tour continues in the reconstructed 1893 schoolhouse, you can join in song with the Christmas carolers. In the 1780s cellar kitchen, find out who was naughty or nice when the Belschnikel, a traditional Pennsylvania German figure, pays a visit!

The Scarecrow is a Snowman, the Tin Man is a Tin Soldier, and the Cowardly Lion is an overpriced stuffed toy!

The Nutcracker Ballet

The Nutcracker Ballet performed by the Northeastern Ballet Ensemble directed by Diane Verdi presents the magic, wonder, and grace of Tchaikovsky’s traditional treat; from December 3 through December 12.
