THIS WEEK

PRICELESS

WINTER EDITION TWELVE

FRIDAY 23RD AUGUST 2019

Enjoy the weekend everyone!

FROM THE CEO “Tower, this is Ghost Rider requesting a flyby.”

A

nyone old enough, or a Tom Cruise fan will know this quote (and a few more no doubt from the movie). It’s now synonymous with someone who’s obstreperous and difficult to control. Where am I going with this? Well, snow field safety is a little like controlling air space… more so on some runs or terrain parks than others, thanks to the abundance of features to jump off in the ski field (i.e. St Elmo’s Slide, The Slot, Cabbage Patch and Après Vous to name a few) and the terrain parks. But in all seriousness, the Alpine Responsibility Code is exactly that, the responsibility of all of us who strap one or two planks to our feet and hurtle down the mountains. To do this safely, staying in control, being able to stop and avoid other people or objects is not just a requirement, it is your responsibility, and this applies to staying in control on the ground and in the air. Why the air you ask? Read on! When on the slopes, the right of way is

ALWAYS given to the skier/boarder in front of and beside you. Hitting someone from behind is your fault (a bit like most car insurance), even if it’s not your fault, it is! Because, failing to keep enough space between you and the person below or beside you is your responsibility. Simple! To use another quote from the movie, “That S.O.B cut me off!” …if everyone is observing the code, you shouldn’t hear this either. Ride or ski to your limits and NEVER ski, snowboard, ride a lift or undertake any other alpine activity if your ability is impaired by drugs or/and alcohol. Now speaking of speed, this weekend sees the elite, the novice and everyone in between getting involved in the largest snow sports event in the Southern hemisphere, the Kangaroo Hoppet. For those not familiar with the event, it is a unique cross country ski event comprised of three events. The Joey, which covers a distance of 7km, the Australian Birkebeiner is run over 21kms and for the super fit, a marathon 42km Kangaroo Hoppet. The grace and power of the elite athletes is something to behold, as they power

through the 42km course. The finish is always exciting and down to the wire. Get out to the Nordic Bowl this weekend and get involved. A top field of international and local talent will be on display. Still pondering my earlier reference to air… well several events this weekend might just explain why the Alpine Responsibility Code is relevant on and off the ground. Therefore, if landing a backside quad cork 1980 is more your style, or if Lincoln Loops, Rodeo or Misty 5’s, or you ‘Spin to Win”… then head to Ruined Castle this Saturday and watch the Big Air and All in Slopestyle competitions that will be unleashed in the terrain parks. Plenty of thrills and hopefully, not too many spills will be on display. Again, the athleticism and aeronautical acrobatics is quite breath taking, so too the courage of the competitors. With all this competition happening, you’re bound to get a bit peckish…! Foodie Tip of the Week: Frying Pan Inn – another Falls Creek institution since 1965 and a Village Bowl icon, it has been thoroughly renovated, inside and out. The menu is excellent, a little chargrilling, a touch of spice and a well thought out selection of local and regional beverages. For lunch, our party went heavy on the meat specific burgers (though a vegan burger is on offer) – all were very happy with their selections. I can vouch for the very healthy and delicious Charcoaled Chicken Thigh with tabouleh, tomatoes, red onion, chimi churri and flat bread, finished off with a glass of the Pizzini Pinot Grigio. The backside quad cork 1980 was first nailed by Yuki Kadono in 2017. Pic – Courtesy Tristan Shu.

Now get out there, ski, board, kick and glide… but most of all have fun and do it safely. Note: if you are wondering what a backside quad cork 1980 is…it was first nailed by Yuki Kadono in 2017. It combines a quadruple cork (going upside down four times, in layman’s terms) with a 1980-degree sideways rotation – that’s five and a half 360-degree spins. THE PLACE TO BE Victoria in Winter!

G

rowing up obsessed with skiing and the snow, I naturally followed our autumn and winter weather patterns with avid curiosity. (…11˚C and raining in Melbourne? We are on!) The palpable excitement around an approaching cold front – guaranteed to deliver piles of fresh snow on our favourite mountains – is a rush reserved for Australians and our unpredictable seasons. You never know when it’s going to arrive, so you better make the most of it when it does! Moving to Torquay a few years ago, I initially felt a little out of my depth living in a surf town and trying to make sense of the surfing world and its quirks. One thing I noticed however, was the comparable levels of excitement among locals (aka froth levels) for the same weather patterns. As it turns out, when it’s snowing at Falls Creek, there is nearly always a big swell hitting the Surf Coast. (It’s also always really cold

– even for a snow person). This realisation became a welcome point of connection for someone who is not that good at surfing (even after years of trying) and initially thought getting barrelled was some kind of surfing injury. With this week’s storm, alongside a welcome 20+cm of snow (and it’s still snowing) the Bells Beach 50-Year Storm Invitational is also looking to go on ‘Code Amber’ - meaning: big swell incoming. This event is special. Only held when the conditions are right (i.e. big enough), the 50-Year Storm is a one-day invitational contest held at Bells Beach in Torquay that sees local surfing royalty and big-wave

chargers paddle out in massive swell to create awareness for mental illness. The event honours local Torquay legend & former World Junior Champion Shaun Brooks who took his own life in 2012 after a long battle with mental illness. It can only be held in the biggest and best conditions (in the 6’ plus range) and channels the fabled history of Bells Beach, with the name a cheeky reference to the 1991 cult movie, Point Break, where the lead character Bodhi paddles out at Bells in the ‘50-year storm’ never to return. At the time of writing, we are still waiting to find out if the contest will run, but this week’s storm represents my favourite thing about Victoria in winter – when wild, windy waves hit our coast, you can bet that big, fat flakes are falling on our mountains. Whether you’re a surfer, a skier or a snowboarder… Victoria is the ultimate winter sportsfield. • Yours in enjoying our great winter - Zoë Neilson, Marketing at Falls Creek Ski Lifts!

SHE SHREDS & NITRO Community Invasion

I

f you were around Falls Creek last week not only would you have scored some epic pow, but you may have also met the Nitro Team! On their annual ‘Good Times’ trip, the team were right in amongst the pow, the parties and the photo shoots.

Christy Prior Ride with the Kids Sunday started out with sunshine and fresh snow as The Nitro Team went out for their ‘ride with the kids’ session with the Falls Creek mini legends. Local ladies Lexi and Jacinta got to enjoy some fun laps and a photo shoot with Christy Prior.

She Shred’s Photo Workshop The She Shreds photo workshop was up next where the girls got to be involved in their own personal media shoot. On speaking to the founder of She Shreds, Sue Wharekawa, she conveyed her passion towards initiatives that encourage and support the creation of inspiration imagery in women’s snow sports. “Anything that raises the profile of women’s snow sports is a positive step toward recognition in what is largely a male dominated industry. Being part of a photo shoot can be both exciting and scary at the same time. There are many

barriers that need to be broken down in society and fear around trying something new is just one of them which is why we wanted to put together this workshop. To encourage, support and inspire.”

“There is a big team behind the individual successes of athletes, from on-snow coaches, strength and conditioning coaches, psychs, physio’s - not to mention the administration side of things”

The girls all had a great time learning new skills and being part of something that is usually only reserved for the experts. It was a fun filled session with the pro’s, the participants and photographer Sean Radich all working together. Congratulations to local rider, Corine Korr from The Chophouse for getting photo of the day!

The girls were delighted to share their experiences in the hope that they might inspire others on their own personal journeys.

Ladies Brunch With not two, but three Olympians in tow, the team at She Shreds then hosted a Q & A brunch at QT Bazaar. Christy Prior (NZ), Zoi Sadowski-Synott (NZ) and Tess Coady (AUS) joined in for a panel style discussion enlightening the crowd as to what it takes to be a professional athlete. The questions ranged from “what’s your favourite trick?” to “how do you manage school and training?” with a variety of answers and perspectives from the three diverse snowboarding Olympians.

She Shreds Community’s Vision is to create a sustainable snow sports industry in which women can contribute, influence, succeed and explore their full potential. For more women’s snowboarding events in Australia check out @sheshredscommunity. •

erebral Palsy NSW travelled from NSW to be at Falls Creek for their 2019 Camp after attending for the first time last year. The Camp was split into a normal weekend Camp - Friday to Sunday and then a special racing camp on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. The weekend camp featured eight athletes aged between 13 and 16 and managed by Peter King and Sue Olsen of CP Alliance NSW.

time on a DWA Camp. After her first lesson with Falls Creek Ski Instructors, Indiana’s skiing improved on Saturday from Mouse Trap to Wombats Ramble. Then on Sunday Indiana’s turns then changed from a continuous snow plough to a small snow plough into the turn and then matching skis (Parallel) after the turn. The pleasing part for your Journo is just to witness the joy and the improvement made by each participant.

Mid-Week Racing Camp

Weekend Camp Sacha was one of the stars of the weekend on the DWA Snow Kart and could be seen steering the Snow Kart down Drovers and Wombats whilst being supported by DWA Guides. The Snow Kart is made for adults and children who have their upper limbs functional, but struggle with balance and strength and movement coordination. The Snow Kart allows you to ski almost independently. Indiana arrived at Falls Creek for her first

The DWA Racing camp for CP NSW started on Monday but due to a plane delay in Sydney the schedule was put back and the CP Team only managed to get in one run in on Monday. But, on Tuesday, the four athletes from CP Alliance NSW; Cameron, Declan, Dylan and Mali were on the mountain at 8:30am and ready and raring to go. It was a great team effort from DWA and Falls Creek Snowsports School with thanks to Jack Percy (Alpine) and Erik Fleklander (Snowboard) and DWA Guides Ken, Tasha and Samantha.

Tuesday was also somewhat restricted by weather but the enthusiasm and effort from the CP NSW team was outstanding, as they were always continually trying individual new ways of improvement. At the end of the day, the hot donuts where a big winner and the CP Team enjoyed them immensely after a very hard training session. Let’s all give CP Alliance Falls Creek’s best wishes as we wish them all success in the NSW Multiclass Championship at Perisher in Alpine GS and Snowboard GS.

COMFORTABLE SKIING Yew! It’s Hoppet time again!

I

f you’re up for it, it’s 42kms of glorious alpine, sweaty, scenery as only Falls Creek can offer. Cross country skiing is one of the toughest outdoor sports on Earth. Half-way between running and skiing, it requires massive VO2 maxes, strength, agility, balance, endurance and fair wack of lycra. Some of the key issues for the intrepid XC’ers amongst us are knee injuries, exertional compartment syndromes, arch strains and cramps, and the occasional Achilles tendinopathy. Falling accounts for some injuries, and overuse injuries tend to account for most other injuries in cross-country skiing, due to the repetitive loads that are put on the body. Particularly with the heel-lifting motion required in skating, which is kind of done on a funny angle. It’s not straight up and down like classic movements. Correct equipment set-up is extremely important in alleviating or preventing any and all issues. Well-fitting boots and an appropriately supportive orthotic is one of the first ports of call for dealing with or resolving issues in the leg (unfortunately whilst the body is all connected, a good orthotic won’t help with shoulder injury prevention – that we can prove just yet). Excessive pronation can be a key contributor to knee injuries, arch pain and Achilles tendinopathies, as well as inhibiting a clean glide and reducing performance. Correct orthotics will also make your boot more secure and can improve your glide by making your energy use more efficient. The glide is better and smoother because in reducing excessive pronation you allow the ski to sit flatter on the snow before your muscle strength and exertion comes into play. The effect of this also reduces the

repetitive strain and muscle fatigue created when you are constantly correcting yourself. Orthotics can also help with balance as they provide biofeedback to the entire length of the sole of the foot (not just the ball and heel). This gives your body a better sense of where it is in space (proprioception) and those small balance muscles can twitch and work appropriately to help keep you balanced, happy and flying free. Compartment syndrome is a different beast. In skaters, it tends to affect the front (anterior) or front-outside (lateral) compartment of muscles. It can leave the foot and ankle feeling ‘floppy’ or ‘slapping’ the ground when the pressure builds up within the connective tissue compartment and the muscles stop working efficiently as a result. Pain can be very intense and feelings of tightness, tingling and occasionally spasms can accompany. Sounds fun! If you notice these symptoms the only way to fix it is rest (some massage, water and lollies help in this too). Prevention for this issue is a strength and training program prior to the

race (sorry, again, no quick fix) and ensuring your equipment and support is correct to improve muscle efficiency. If you have any concerns or questions, pop in and we can help you work through all these issues, whether you’re looking for high performance or doing it for fun. • Krista Sturday, Podiatrist and Bootfitter at Ortho Ski.

THE RUDI RACE In Memory

T

he Rudi Pendl Cup will once again take place at Falls Creek on the Summit next Thursday 29th August. This is a recent event that has become a favourite race among members of the Falls Creek village community and it is set to honour the life of long-time and much loved employee Rudi Pendl. And again this year, the organisers have maintained - for the Ladies – the Lynn Gibbs trophy in memory of another village stalwart. The trophies are hand crafted by Freddie Dalkin and Gary Hough. We will have four age groups male and female that have been

named ‘The freshly baked strudels – U16,’ ‘Two day old strudels – U30,’ ‘The left-over strudels – U50’ and finally ‘The left, left over strudels of Over 50’ class. When the original little Austria was purposefully burned to the ground in the summer of 84. Little Austria was moved to middle Nissan and Rudi spend most of the winter nights refurbishing the new Little Austria with his team of Comrads including Konrad. The new digs took shape in an Austrian Gemuetlich style and many fun evenings were had with Rudi’s hospitality and a share Tiroler groestl. When the reno’s were finished in Little Austria a time capsule was installed above the dining table and booth; it may be time to take a peak. Rudi loved to cook. Rudi loved to build. Rudi loved to race. Rudi loved to help! Thanks Rudi. “3, 2, 1 Go.”

KANGAROO HOPPET 2019 The 2019 Hoppet Dozen

T

he Hoppet Dozen, available only from the Kangaroo Hoppet Race Office in Mount Beauty, with the option of either six whites or six reds, provides skiers with a unique chance to sample wines from four of our local regional wineries. The sheltered alpine valleys of north east Victoria have established a reputation for high quality cool climate wines. The Alpine Valleys wine region takes in the Kiewa, Ovens, Buckland and Buffalo River Valleys, while the adjoining King River Valley to the west is a region in its own right. The cool nights and the reliable natural rainfall of the alpine valleys combine with the warm days from being north of the Great Dividing Range to reduce transpiration rates, creating ideal ripening conditions that maximise the natural sugars, esters and acids in the grapes leading to intense fruit flavours. A quick glance the list selected for this year’s selection throws up three names that need a bit of an explanation - Bianco, Rosso and Gris de Gris. The Bianco and Rosso are from Sam Miranda’s Ballerina range with their distinctive ballet dancer label. While it is easy to just say bianco is Italian for white, we can go into a bit more detail and say that if you were in the area around Soave, about half an hour’s drive east of Verona, and you found this style of wine, chances are that it would be called Soave and consist of at least 70% Garganega. However since

you are in north east Victoria you have to find another name and call it ‘Soave style’, or the EU geographic names folk would be cross. The Rosso is much simpler, rosso is Italian for red and it is red wine. To be precise, a very nice blend of Shiraz and Barbera.

Boynton’s Feathertop Winery, Great Alpine Road, Porepunkah. 2018 Gris de Gris (Pinot Gris)

Which brings us to the Gris de Gris from Feathertop winery. As you might hazard a guess, it has something to do with Pinot Gris, and you would be right. The grapes were picked a bit earlier than usual and the result is a wine more in the style you would expect of a Pinot Grigio. The style was inspired by a wine of this name that Feathertop owner Kel Boynton came across in a café in Paris. To find out just which street in Paris, you will have to acquire a bottle and read the label.

THE 2019 HOPPET DOZEN Rotarians Cater for Hoppet Crowds

T

he snow has been laid out across the mountains. The storm has passed and the fine weather has arrived. Keen skiers have already begun trying their skills on the various sections of the Hoppet course. But the real action is on Saturday, when around 1300 skiers will take on courses of 7, 21 and 42km in this year’s Kangaroo Hoppet. When they all get back to the start/ finish area they will be looking for a little something to eat and drink while they share stories with fellow skiers. Step in The Rotary Club of Mount Beauty. For many years local Rotarians have turned up to man the finish line where they hand out food to skiers as they cross the line. We should mention here that they have been supported by the Mount Beauty Bakery who have, every year since the first Hoppet in 1991, provided mountains of rock buns for a quick carbo boost. A few metres further on from the finish line, however, is where most of our Rotarians will be found; cooking up a treat at the BBQ. Kranskies with sauerkraut and mustard, Burgers with onions and coleslaw, snags and veggie burgers are turned out by the hundreds. As well as filling the Bowl with delicious aromas and sating a few appetites, the on-site BBQ

facilitates a social atmosphere amongst skiers, supporters and race volunteers. This all contributes to the familiar Hoppet Day carnival atmosphere. The money raised from this BBQ adds to the coffers of the local Rotary club enabling it to fund local and international actives. Students from Mount Beauty Secondary College help at this BBQ, giving these students the opportunity to thank Rotary for funding many of their activities. Some of the end-of-year academic awards, the Youth Science forum and the Melbourne familiarisation trip are just a few. Come and join us on Saturday for the Hoppet celebration, buy a snag or burger from the Rotary BBQ and contribute to the Rotary Club of Mount Beauty. See you there! •

CROSS COUNTRY NEWS Hoppet Time

I

t’s Hoppet time! Welcome all readers, whether you are a seasoned local or you have come from lands far and wide to ski this great race. This week I have done some rustling through the metaphorical ‘Hoppet files.’ I’ve had a look at the key personnel that have helped make this event what it is today.

Who Is Harry Hoppet? Allan Marsland has been here from Hoppet number one back in 1991 and well before that. He was part of the early days when the Birkebeiner Nordic Ski Club was getting started and has been one of the most influential people in creating the ski race we have today. He is friends with all the big

dogs from the Worldloppet organisation and attends the AGM every year – wherever it is held around the world. TWIFC: “What is your purpose of attending the Worldloppet AGM each year Allan?” Allan: “While I could just quote the aims of Worldloppet which include travelling the world, meeting old friends and making new ones, which is the fun part, the meetings provide an opportunity for representatives of the world’s major international ski marathons to get together to discuss common issues, share experiences and solutions, and make plans for the future growth and development of our sport. Which is the hard bit? Major topics at this year’s meeting in Iceland, held at Isafjiordur where they hold the Fossavangsgaten race, included establishing a global ranking system for citizen skiers, developing a global calendar of popular XC races, and strategies for reducing use of plastics and disposable ‘stuff’ at events. I also managed to see a puffin and get swooped by arctic terns … just like magpies, only they hunt in swarms. I not sure what the collective noun is for lots of arctic terns but swarms certainly describe the experience quite well.” TWIFC: “Apart from the Hoppet which

Worldloppet do you think is the most unique? Allan: “‘Most unique’! Let’s not get sidetracked into a debate about whether there can be degrees of uniqueness. Whether it is the 15000 skiers in the start paddock of Sweden’s Vasaloppet, the spectacular Swiss alps looming over the frozen lakes at the Engadin Ski Marathon, the magnificent snow sculptures in China, or the woolly sheep toys at New Zealand’s Merino Muster and the nearby Cardrona whiskey distillery, all the Worldloppet races have something that makes them unique.” TWIFC: “What is something about your role each year that you are still trying to improve on? Allan: “Learning to say no and letting go of tasks for younger folk to take over.”

The Backbone Of The Hoppet Another guest in this week’s article is current Hoppet oversnow transport coordinator Bob Flower. Whilst Bob is currently the oversnow transport coordinator, he has enjoyed a number of roles throughout the years including serving as Chief of Race. TWIFC: “What work has been done over the years in designing the Hoppet course? Is it about showing off the Australian Alps? Bob: “The Hoppet course has been refined many times over its 29 year history to make it safer and more enjoyable for our citizen Visit the

CROSS COUNTRY NEWS skiers. Unlike many of the overseas events, our longer races, the 21 km Birkebeiner and the 42km Hoppet, take participants out into quite remote areas of the National Park and involve significant amounts of climbing and descending. National Parks staff have worked closely with Falls Creek groomers over the years to develop a course which takes in the beauty of the High Plains whilst making the hills and corners as manageable as possible for skiers of all abilities. In the weeks leading up to the Hoppet each year a lot of work is done benching the course to make it flatter and widening corners to make them safer.”

ENTERTAINMENT Chris Booroff ‘Chris Booroff (Long John Grandad) is a solo looping artist playing a mix of funk, soul, blues and reggae. Originally hailing from the UK, Chris has played shows in many different ensembles across the UK, Europe, Australia and New Zealand. When he isn’t playing solo, he tours with the Australian reggae band Sun Salute on lead guitar and trumpet. The original members of Sun Salute met each other and formed the band in Falls Creek, which gives Chris a close sentimental connection to the mountain. Chris intertwines guitar solos, funky riffs, trumpet lines and smooth melodies into his music. His signature sound is a cross of influences from artists such as Ed Sheeran,

Stevie Ray Vaughan, Red Hot Chilli Peppers and everything in between. As a keen snowboarder now living in Melbourne, Chris has made a few trips to the mountain in past years as well as working on the mountain for the whole season of 2018. Chris plans to continue playing regular shows in future years on the mountain as a solo artist and as part of Sun Salute. Check him out for some groovy jams and some great renditions of your favourite tunes!’ You can enjoy Chris’s talents at Happy Harvey Hour at Falls Creek Hotel this Tuesday and Thursday from 3:30pm. Be there! •

Nicky Bomba

A

fter years of working with bands from Africa to the Middle East and honing his reggae, ska and mento expertise, Nicky has drawn on his musical journeys and philosophies to produce his first ever solo work, Planet Juice. This collection captures songs that have been sitting in the bag for years to new tunes – freshly squeezed. His new work sees him getting back to his roots; spending more time on the drum kit on top of a kaleidoscope of other instruments including the ukulele, marimba and guitar. With a rich and exciting life so far, this album marks a new phase in Nicky’s musical journey, where the artist

stands before the canvas, holding the brush alone. “It strangely took me a while to get started on these songs. I kept finding subconscious excuses to avoid the studio. Eventually I allowed myself to be vulnerable and feel the fear a little. It was the blessing the adventure needed. I now realise the possibilities are endless.” With a passion for culture and people, Nicky has travelled extensively, immersing himself in the music and culture of places such as Ethiopia, Morocco, Jamaica, Europe and his birthplace Malta. Consequently, the music produced by this peace-lovin’ troubadour is a melting pot of fun, adventure and exotic sounds of the people and places he loves. The live performance still holds sacred for Nicky who is eternally committed to creating a sense of community and unity whenever he plays. It is not uncommon for Nicky to go off on some magical tangent in order to really connect with an audience.

ALPINE RESPONSIBILITY CODE Flying by the seat of his pants is something Nicky welcomes. “I’m always aware of the active energy of a crowd. Believing in the moment and kind of steering that spontaneous beast can result in something really special. Absolute positive vibrations.” Nicky has built a solid reputation in the music industry via many projects including conducting the 30pce Melbourne Ska Orchestra to playing drums on John Butler’s award-winning ‘Sunrise over Sea’ to being the Artistic Producer for the Multicultural Arts Victoria “Visible” project. Over the years he has formed and played with bands purely for the love of the music and the adventures they create. Some of these activities include: Touring extensively with the Bomba band (Reggae/Funk), Banana Oil (Jazz), Bustamento (Calypso/Mento) and The Truth (Funk). This week you can enjoy Nicky at Astra on Wednesday 28th at Astra and then on Friday 30th he will be with the full ‘Bustamento’ mob at the Frying Pan Inn. Plenty to enjoy in that little lot. •

Respect Gets Respect

5. Observe and obey all signs and warnings. Keep off closed trails or runs.

egardless of how you enjoy your snow sport, always show courtesy to others and be aware that there are inherent risks in all snow recreational activities that common sense, protective equipment and personal awareness can reduce. These risks include rapid changes in the weather, visibility and surface conditions, as well as natural and artificial hazards such as rocks, trees, stumps, vehicles, lift towers, snow fences and snowmaking equipment.

6. Give way to people below and beside you on the hill. It is your responsibility to avoid them.

R

Observe the Code and Share with others the Responsibility for a great experience 1. Know your ability and always stay in control and be able to stop and avoid other people or objects. It is your responsibility to stay in control on the ground and in the air. 2. Take lessons from professional instructors to learn and progress. 3. Use appropriate protective equipment to minimise the risk of injury. 4. Before using any lift you must have the knowledge and ability to load, ride and unload safely.

7. Do not stop where you are not clearly visible from above. Look uphill and give way to others when entering/exiting a trail or starting downhill. 8. Always ensure your equipment is in good condition and use suitable restraining devices to avoid runaway skiing/boarding equipment, even when riding chairlifts. 9. Do not ski, board, ride a lift or undertake any other alpine activity if your ability is impaired by drugs or alcohol. 10. If you are involved in, or witness an accident or collision, alert Ski Patrol, remain at the scene and identify yourself to the Ski Patrol. Know the code. It’s your responsibility. Failure to observe the code may result in cancellation of your ticket or pass by ski patrol or other authorised personnel. Respect gets respect - from the lift line, to the slopes, through the park and the resort. •
