THE 113TH JOHN STEWARDSON MEMORIAL FELLOWSHIP IN ARCHITECTURE - 2014 Concept: Revitalizing the currently underdeveloped 1500 block of Ridge Avenue into an Arts District Corridor will facilitate economic development and create prosperity and jobs which will restore Francisville to its once grandiose state. The design concept transforms the block into an interactive cultural hub showcasing art and music which encourages visitors and residents to indulge in the multifaceted experience that is the Arts District of Ridge Avenue. By redesigning the streetscape into a pedestrian and bike friendly experience, tourists and locals are encouraged to walk Ridge Avenue establishing a sensorial experience. The infills between row homes introduce a new typology and style to the existing language of Ridge Avenue.

In response to water management systems, a large centralized cistern spans the length of the 1500 block of Ridge Avenue which will collect all storm and rain water. The water then diverts to opposite sides of the road into purification tanks and into storage tanks for regulated building use. Grey-water systems will be integrated in all bathrooms to responsibly manage water usage. Solar panels harvest daylight for energy use.
