Macrete are one of the few truly independent precast concrete manufacturers, supplying precast concrete structures and products to the UK and Ireland from our base in County Antrim, Northern Ireland. Macrete are established at the forefront of the precast concrete industry with over thirty years experience in the design and manufacture of a wide range of reinforced and prestressed concrete products and systems. Many types of precast concrete solutions are designed and supplied to the civil, rail, water, stadia, marine and agricultural markets. Using our superior distribution network, we successfully export our precast concrete products and structures to anywhere in the UK and Ireland.

Macrete design and manufacture reinforced and prestressed concrete units for railway infrastructure, and have supplied to numerous railway projects throughout the United Kingdom. The majority of structures are erected during weekend rail possessions and demand dimensional precision combined with on-time delivery to ensure uninterrupted construction. Macrete have a highly experienced design/manufacturing team who interact with the client at an early stage in the project to guarantee satisfactory completion.

Water
Precast Shaft & Tunnels Lining Systems Macrete supplies segmental shaft and tunnel linings to numerous prestigious projects in the UK, Ireland and abroad. Our current shaft lining range is 2.44m ID to 27.00m ID. Universal Segments Macrete has recently patented a new type of shaft lining called the Universal Segment which can be bolted from the back or the front – whichever you want. We have worked very closely with shaft sinking contractors to understand their site requirements. In principle, a contractor can commence shaft sinking by the caisson method, bolting from the extrados. Should the geology change to rock, requiring the remainder of the shaft to be underpinned, the same stock may be used and bolted from the intrados. This eliminates the need for two types of stock to be held on site. Reinforced pipe Reinforced concrete pipe to BS 5911 Part 100 are available in diameter range 375mm to 2400mm. Larger sizes are available on request. Steel Banded Jacking Pipes Steel banded jacking pipes to BS 5911 Part 120 are available in diameter range 600mm to 2400mm. Larger sizes are available on request. Technology Transfer We are in a position to license this product range internationally.

Stadia
Macrete offer design and supply of precast concrete products for stadia. With a wealth of experience and capability within the precast concrete industry, solutions are provided for small or large stadia projects. Macrete has developed a detailed contract methodology for taking the stadium from its initial concept to delivery of the components on site, together with dedicated technology and personnel to handle it.
Macrete use bespoke steel moulds for the manufacture of the steel reinforced terrace units. These moulds are adjustable to accommodate different design requirements - tread depth, riser height and section length. The Macrete range of products for the stadia market include terrace units, wall panels, floors, stepblocks and stairs. Our in-house specialist stadia designers will help you achieve the precise type of construction you wish to build, with all the precast components made and delivered on time and within budget.

Recent stadia delivered include the Stadium MK (Milton Keynes), Brighton Community (Amex) Stadium, Salford City Stadium, the Molineux Stan Cullis North Stand replacement - for Buckingham Group Contracting, Ashton Gate for Bristol City; and two corner terrace infills for the Warrington Halliwell Jones Stadium.
Marine
The marine environment presents some of the harshest conditions for concrete. Macrete work closely with The Environment Agency to understand their needs. We produce massive, highly accurate revetment units and wave walls in a multitude of shapes to match aesthetic and structural requirements. Macrete has provided many kilometres of coastal defence components in both grey and coloured concrete.
Macrete C-Defence™ ushers new era for flood defences Macrete C-Defence™, originally developed for the Anchorsholme Coastal Defence Scheme on the Fylde Peninsula, is an all new concrete mix specifically for underwater abrasion resistance and all weather durability. Macrete C-Defence™ offers greater design life at the same budget.
Marine
Agriculture Macrete has erected more than 300 slurry tanks with storage capacities between 100,000 gallons and 1,200,000 gallons. Our tanks are fully compliant with all SSAFO regulations and BS:EN 1992. All elements of the tank are manufactured in high strength concrete in a factory controlled environment under our ISO 9001:2008 quality management system. Macrete manufactures a full range of agricultural products including slatted floors, cow cubicles, drinking troughs and portable retaining walls.
Macrete storage tank is used within the Agrikomp Biogas electricity generating plant The 1,000,000 gallon storage tank is provided for storage of the liquid digestant resulting from the processes of the system. Producing a 380Kw electricity contribution to the National Grid, the biogas plant relies on a farming feedstock of maize, poultry manure and cattle slurry, from which bio-gas is harvested, then used to power an electricity generator. The remaining digestant, which still possesses 100% of its NPK nutrient content, is separated into solid and liquid. These are stored and used as required within the farm to provide approximately 80% of the necessary total land fertilisation. Agriculture
FlexiArch
FlexiArch is a patented, Highways Authority approved arch bridge system which uses masonry arch bridge principles, but is made using modern precast concrete technology. The bridge is the result of 8 years of development including extensive modelling and testing between Macrete and Queen’s University to produce a commercially attractive award winning highway bridge system. FlexiArch contains no corrodible reinforcement. It is a compression structure and is therefore not prone to cracking. FlexiArch is a zero maintenance structure. Numerous FlexiArch bridges are now in place and working under full highway loading. Our clients specify from a range of cladding options to create visually attractive structures which blend beautifully with their environment. Macrete is continuously interacting with customers to develop longer spans, double radius and skewed FlexiArch structures.
