Thomas Colvin, III ...Behind the Lens Always with a camera by his side, Thomas Colvin spent almost 20 years as a figurative painter who depicted the human condition through light, form, gesture, expression and color. His thought-provoking imagery left viewers in awe. These are the same elements that are evident in his photography.
Thomas Colvin has been creating stunning visual art for over 30 years...
A life-long artist, Thomas began creating images and doing sculpture about the age of 7. With the support of his family, he pursued his passion and plunged into opportunities as a creative individual. As an artist, Thomas has his own unique style of “seeing”, one that has been developed through years of investigation into being human…the human being. “This is more than simply reproducing life and marking an existence. It is, for me, about capturing a complete moment or event and showing it the way I see it.” Thomas’ love of photography was started by his late father, Thomas Colvin, Jr., who always made sure to have a camera with him. “My dad always had at least one camera, sometimes more. He was forever capturing moments of our family and anybody else who happened to be around. In some ways, I think he realized the importance of time and capturing fleeting moments. I really enjoyed sharing that passion with him.” A product of the Dothan City School system in Dothan, Ala., Thomas earned a Bachelor of Science degree in commercial art/graphic design with a minor in visual art from Alabama A&M University. “I have a passion for seeing things. I love being able to visualize a shot in a new location. The reaction that I get when I can mix different components and create an image that strikes a chord with my clients is priceless. For me, in a well-executed shoot, it is about the ‘wow’ factor!”

TIPS FOR YOUR WEDDING DAY
1. Determine What Is Important To You: Don’t try to do everything. Allow other people to handle things for you. They can keep you abreast of progress, but take some of that pressure off by asking for assistance. 2. Get A Coordinator: Having someone who can take care of the details for you will be a welcomed releif. A coordinator will take your ideas, lay out a plan and meet with you periodically to make sure it meets your approval.
5. Surround Yourself With Vendors That You Like: Make sure that the vendors you hire are people you want to do business with. Be sure to meet and talk with them before you make your decision to make sure they are who you want to have at your celebration. 6. Delegate Responsibility: Don’t try to do everything. Allow other people to handle things for you. They can keep you abreast of progress, but take some of that pressure off by asking for assistance.
3. Make Your Wedding Uniquely Yours: Don’t try to do everything. Allow other people to handle things for you. They can keep you abreast of progress, but take some of that pressure off by asking for assistance.
7. Consider Doing a First Look: Don’t try to do everything. Allow other people to handle things for you. They can keep you abreast of progress, but take some of that pressure off by asking for assistance.
4. Consider the Small Things: The photographs of your day will last a lifetime, and the small details in them are the things that will stay in your heart. From the bouquet to the selection of flowers at the altar, even the room where you will dress, all of these will be a part of your memories.
8. Do A Timeline: With your coordinator and photographer, do a timeline for the day of the wedding. This will ensure that everyone is where they need to be. It will help the coordinator and photographer plan and schedule their movements throughout the day.

9. Save Your Money: While everyone dreams of an elaborate wedding, be sure not to start your new life with a financial deficit. Do not be afraid to ask vendors what discounts, if any, they have available. Plan ahead so that you are able to have a wonderful day that fits within your financial means. 10. Plan and Do Things In Advance: With your coordiantor, set a series of dates that things need to be completed by. This should be one week to three days before the event, not the day before. Make sure that everyone is ready and confirm the time that they will arrive. 11. Do A Hair & Makeup Trial: At least 30 days before the wedding, do a hair and makeup trial. You want to make sure that the MUA and hairstylist perform the look that you want, giving you time to make any changes prior to the actual event. This is also a good time to get bridal shots. 12. Prepare An Emergency Kit: Keep in mind that things happen. Be sure to have an emergency kit with a few essentials like band-aids, alcohol, Tylenol or Aleve, an ice pack and needle and thread. If anyone in the party is on medication, have a list of those medicines and a doctor’s contact number as well.
S T U D I O S
13. Keep The Moment Sacred: Your ceremony is a very sacred event. You are pledging your life to your mate. This in itself, will come with a certain reverence and those around you should be made aware of its importance to you. 14. Snack and Hydrate: This will be a very busy day and of all the things that you will try to remember, one of the most important is to have snacks and water throughout the day. You will need to keep your energy level up and not having something to eat for 8-10 hours during the busiest part of the day won’t do that. Be sure to designate someone to make sure to have fruit and water available for you. 15. What Is Really Important: This important day is about joining two into one, in front of your family and friends. It is a time for joyous celebration, not stress and worry. Be sure to enjoy the moment, enjoy that the family and friends, some who you may not have seen in a long time, are with you, and that you are beginning a new and exciting life.
