SANDRO Terlizzi was out four-wheeling at Lithgow on the Zig Zags on a rainy day, when he spotted what he thought would be an easy path up a shaly hill

“I didn’t realise it was all hidden mud,” Sandro told 4X4 Australia “I got halfway up, and then didn’t go anywhere I hit the brakes, but all the car did was slide back down.”

Sandro knew there was a massive hole to his left at the bottom, so he attempted to avoid it Unfortunately for Sandro

• Voucher can only be redeemed through www.maxtrax.com.au and his 2019 XLT Ranger – with an OME two-inch lift, RAZR 33-inch tyres and a Safari Armax snorkel – the car started to slide out of control towards the hole “Photos don’t really do it justice, but half the car fell in and I couldn’t do anything. It was tilting back and forth and I worried it was going to tip,” Sandro added.

• When using the voucher, any outstanding balance can be paid as normal.

• If you don’t spend the whole thing, the remaining balance can be used on your account in the future.

• The voucher will expire 3 years from the date of activation.

Luckily, no damage was caused, and Sandro was able to rescue the rig by strapping up from behind on someone else’s winch A bunch of guys then jumped on the back of the car to add weight, to ensure it didn’t tip whilst being pulled out

When asked what advice he’d give to other travellers when faced with a similar predicament, Sandro said: “I think it was just the terrain that was unpredictable. I did see the hole on the way up, so it was a risky one, but it was the safest route out of the three or four that went up the hill ”
