Nitrogen charged

GAZ Shocks has launched a couple of new features for its existing range of GHA and Gold adjustable coil-over suspension kits. The first is the addition of nitrogen gas to help minimise the aeration of the hydraulic fluid/oil under normal use by co hy compressing the air bubbles inside the damper. This nitrogen is stored inside the damper with the oil.

The second is the addition of a helper spring above the main co coil spring, which along with the nitrogen, helps to giveto g an improved and smoother ride.

Whilst these two features are now added to the GHA and Gold co fe to t coilover suspension kits, they can also be fitted to o te to old suspension kits, so customers who already have a suitable kit can send their suspension to GAZ to haveve a s to G to hav it upgraded for £45 per unit.

Dimmable dash bulbs

In the May 2022 issue of JW, we reported on an all-new set of LED dashboard lighting bulbs from Better Car Lighting that could be dimmed using all car rheostats. BCL has now addressed the issue that when early cars have new wiring harnesses fitted, it invariably changes the type of bulbs used in the dash lighting from the Edison Screw 987 types to the more modern 10mm wedge bulbs known variously as T10, 501, or W5W.

BCL can now supply fully dimmable LED versions of these bulbs in either green or ivory white (4300K) and, importantly, in special-edition ice blue for early Jaguars. No changes are needed when fitting these bulbs as they are designed to be a direct replacement for the original filament bulbs, but they are much brighter, run cool, and are guaranteed for five years.

S-Type headlining

Myrtle is now manufacturing and selling the headlining boards for both pre and post-facelift X200 S-Type models. Supplied covered in grey, oatmeal or champagne, they’re produced with high-temperature adhesive with all the cutouts in place. Myrtle manufactures a range of Jaguar headlining boards and in this case, offers them for models with or without a sunroof and also for LHD variants. The company ships them to customers all over the world.

The headlining board is made from flexible GRP, and Paul Banham at Myrtle explains that it can be fitted without having to remove any glass as it will flex and fit through a door aperture. Plus, there is no drilling or glueing required as all holes and fixing points are already in place.

Cup type core plugs

SNG Barratt is now selling cup type core plugs for a range of XKs and later engines as fitted to the Jaguar saloons, the E-Type, XJ Series 1-3 and the XJ-S. The new 15/8 in diameter core plugs are manufactured from stainless steel and made in the UK.

Deburring tool

LED swivel torch

New from Machine Mart’s Clarke range is this battery-powered LED torch. It’s powered by a 3.7-volt lithium-ion battery, which is recharged using a dedicated mains power lead and should take a maximum of four hours. It features a COB (circuit on bo rd) LED strip light for the main illumination, which produces up to 400 lumens via a small adjuster wheel on the back of the body.

It also has a torch function, powered by an 80-lumens SMD (surface-mounted device) LED on the end of the swivel arm. This is switched on and off via a small, recessed button on the back of the body. When both lights are on and with the main illumination at maximum brightness, the battery should last for roughly three hours.
