PRESTON PETTY HEADLIGHT NUMBERPLATE -
WITH BATTERY

The idea for the battery-operated headlight came from Paul Stannard’s friend Mike Murphy (Rokon fan extraordinaire). Mike and Paul even got to show Preston the Paul even got to show Preston the prototype of this great unit prototype of this great unit before he passed. before he passed. What is it? The What is it? The iconic headlight/ iconic headlight/ numberplate can numberplate can now be bought now be bought with its own with its own battery power battery power as a completely as a completely s e l f - c o n t a i n e d s e l f - c o n t a i n e d unit! The unit! The lithium battery lithium battery is mounted to is mounted to the rear of the the rear of the unit and there’s an unit and there’s an on/off switch on the on/off switch on the front. As well, there’s front. As well, there’s a 75cm (30”) harness a 75cm (30”) harness so you can also include so you can also include the rear taillight (and the rear taillight (and there’s a pickup to there’s a pickup to include a rear brake include a rear brake light). Does it work? light). Does it work? Brilliantly! The LED Brilliantly! The LED headlight provides 1200 lumens of light, which is brighter than many regular headlights on trail bikes from the ‘70s. How long does the battery last? The battery will last around five hours at full strength and about eight hours altogether. That’s more than enough for occasional dusk or night use that most riders would actually require, then it’s simply a case of giving the batter y a recharge. The recharge can be done while the batter y stays installed in the unit and of course a charger is supplied.
Preston Petty Products can also supply a bright LED bulb for the taillight which actually has a red bulb and which is dual filament so it can be both taillight and stop light. This new headlight/numberplate is a brilliant solution for those who want to add lights to their old dirt bike without going down the road of buying a complete new ignition system that has lighting coils or simply if you want to add some lights to your motocrosser for vinduro events. Overall, it is a very well thought out and well made unit, top marks!

MOTOCROSS - THE GOLDEN ERA
David Dewhurst’s upcoming book, Motocross - The Golden Era, is billed as the biggest book in motocross history and it will most likely match the claim! David was in a class of his own in the ‘70s and ‘80s as a photographer in the USA, capturing the sport we all love. This book will be the culmination of decades of work at motocross events and will run to 480 pages, with over 600 images.
Right now, he’s offering a 25% saving (until 1st November) if you pre-order the book on his website, with the book due to become available in early November.
David also has a unique ‘add-on’, as he explains - “For those with a little more cash in the bank, I am also offering two very unique books for US$15,000 each. Along with the book, these two lucky buyers will get to spend an evening with Roger DeCoster, Broc Glover and Rick Johnson. All proceeds go to charities of the riders’ choice.”
