Measured Drawings
Measuring methodology
Dismantle the joints to form separate planes and measure each parts by a ruler due to the simple shape which is then put into drawings in isometric view. Since A3 paper is used for the drawings but it doesn’t fit the size of the 1:1 measurement, these drawings are therefore scaled to 1:2.

Analysis Top friction details
Rubber dots are applied to increase the friction being generated when you step on the stool for safety reason from falling due to slippery.
Bottom friction details
The same idea of increasing friction is used in the bottom of the stoll between the stool and ground that stop it from moving.
Joint details
Rather than a steel bar being put inside the joints, a simple plastic socket joint is set to provide either vertical movement on the top plate or horizontal movement of the side. Rotation approximately 90 degrees.
4
Interior details
the mesh patterns running through the whole stool at its back helps increasing the stool’s stiffness by adding vertical and horizontal thickness to the object as well as transferring the loads from top to bottom from different angles.
Stability
The stool is being produced with the bottom base slightly wider than the top which can prevent the stool to fold when uneven load is applied
Movements
The connection of joints allow different planes to form as a whole system which the movement of any panel will results the whole stool moving.

Digital Model Process

Sketch Model
A rough paper model of the stool is made to identify the plane movement and folding system.
The top part is then being taken out for further development of a pattern.
8
The lower part of the stool interested me which further investigation is being made.
Joining them into one piece formed a more complex geometrical shape.
Trying to add a closed surface on the lower part stool.
The interior of the model.
Methodology
-Tearing papers and join them back into preferred shape by tapes to form a piece of paper. -Playing with geometrical lines and try to fold them.
Final product
Final changes combining the planes and developed geomertical shape. A small part of the repeated shape model which allow the square planes to move freely due to the folding system connected to.

Sketch Design #1 Cushion, Movement, Continuous, Adaptability
What is your idea? [Maximum 5 key words]
Principle geomerty of this When being pressured, the boxes folded joints will be pressed or move to cancel the force.
Fits multipurposes such as lying down or sitting down. Material can be fibre with cushion inside the boxes which gives extra conforts.
has cushion inside to give comfort to the person as well as balancing forces applied.
How does this respond to your personal space? Detailed view of how the boxes moves and works are shown in the previous sketch model final design.

This sleeping pod connects with human body by allowing movement and flexibility between boxes. This creates a barrier between the environment and the person which when the person wants to sleep he lays down with the position he likes, and the boxes slightly move to give a more comfortable position to the person.
Sketch Design #2 Fold, flexibility, private space, darkness, light
What is your idea? [Maximum 5 key words]
Folded tubular fabric design sleeping pod. Wired interior allows the tube to be so flexible to hold it in the air to receive some light, or even bring it to ground to create a more private feeling as well as darkness.
It is also designed to be so light which allows high mobility. Confortable even when you sleeep seated as the material reacts as an elastical cushion.
How does this respond to your personal space? The unfold form shows the more connection with the outside environment. However, when it starts to fold, a barrier starts to form which creates an isolated dark space: personal, hiddened which a person can relax without the interruption.

Sketch Design #3 Roational, no sound/ light, foldable
What is your idea? [Maximum 5 key words]
Main folding system which the whole design idea is to provide a convienent way of sleeping A hook is applied at the end of connection to make the designstable as well as easy to be removed
The system rotates from neck all the way to eyes and ears to cover sight and sound from disdurbing sleeping. Some support for neck is also provided especially needed when someone wants to sleep while sitting.
Main material can be fibre to create a more comfortable senses as it attach directly on our skin especially eyes. However, certain strength needs to be provided for support.

How does this respond to your personal space? The idea of a rotationary folding system which stretches out when getting to bottom of body create both of an isolative approach and with more free space because people are not able to stand close to you. The shaded part shows how the personal space is increasing going down
