Begin by comparing the 2006 and 2007 Clos des Papes from Paul Avril, which wine critic Robert Parker rated 98 and 99+ points respectively, calling the 2006 “utterly profound” and the 2007 “unquestionably one of the great Chateauneufs of my lifetime.” Then move on to compare the 2000 vs. 2001 Domaine de Pegau Reservee. Parker calls the former “a tour de force...impeccably well-balanced,” and praises the latter as “a spectacular smorgasbord of aromas...with a huge finish, and a monster upside.” Finally, conclude your tasting by comparing a pair of 2007s from famous Spanish wine producer Alvaro Palacios, who bio-dynamically farms all of his vineyards. Parker says of the first, from the Las Lamas vineyard, “satin-textured, multifaceted, and intense, it is full of finesse, elegance, and impeccable balance.” He describes the second from “sister” vineyard La Faraona, as “velvety-textured, suave, and intensely flavored, it admirably combines elegance and power.” DONATED BY: Sharon and Brad Malt ESTIMATED VALUE: $750
