RECLAIMING MY
VIP
Thompson Hospitality hosts a minimum of 3-5 student engagement programs and events monthly.
Monthly Themes
The programming calendar is built around monthly themes that honor cultural celebrations, food holidays, and the most popular food trends. The themes encompass programming and promotions for both retail and residential dining and target promotions that align with the theme.
Themed Meals
This year’s Residential Dining calendar includes over thirty +stay & enjoy themed events that can easily be converted to +take & enjoy in case of changes in public safety precautions.
Outdoor Events
Campus Dining will kick off the new academic year with an outdoor luxury picnic and end the year with an outdoor summer block party. Outdoor events will take center stage in easing back into our campus dining “new normal.”
One-Day Festival & Town Hall
In addition to our traditional events, this year we welcome our on-campus event, Wellness Fest, a one-day festival filled with mindful menus and self-care activities that will pour into personal growth and development. Guests will find an array of opportunities to relax, refuel, and relieve stress.
This
year, Thompson
Hospitality will focus on delivering a robust campus dining program that infuses our online programming and social media with live in-person opportunities for student engagement.
Our programming strategy infuses traditional events with content marketing to drive sales, build tenured meal plan customers, and add value to the on-campus college experience.
The Good Fight: Food Insecurity Challenge
Campus Dining and students join forces to raise awareness about food insecurity among college students with a thirty-day interactive challenge. With three ways to participate, students get points for donating to our campus food drive, posting our food insecurity awareness social media posts and volunteering at local food banks.
Reduce The Waste: Food Waste Challenge
Campus Dining accounts will educate, empower, and inspire new habits regarding food waste and sustainability. Much like The Good Fight, this one-week interactive challenge gives students three ways to participate, get points, and win prizes.
The Garden Give-Back
Campus Dining accounts will work with a small group of students and campus community members to go out and plant something with the students. Immediately following the planting session, the team would have an outdoor garden dinner in honor of Earth Day.
The College Connection
Campus Dining will partner with the student body of the institution to adopt thirty highschool juniors from a local lower income high school for a one-day campus experience. Each high school student will be paired with a college student to enjoy a meal on campus, learn about the college or university experience, and get connected with resources for being college ready.
food activismand awareness
This year, Thompson Hospitality partners with campus communities to lend a hand, raise a voice, and build awareness in efforts to combat some of society’s most pressing social issues.
Our initiatives are designed with both in-person, volunteer, and online activities to build a better environment for the next generation.
*Initiatives may vary from year to year.

This year, Thompson Hospitality is prioritizing the importance of cultivating community both on campus and in the local community.
Community is one of the top reasons students choose to attend HBCUs. It is important that we are aligned in creating meaningful relationships, curating safe spaces, and giving back in the communities we serve.
It is an honor and privilege to be a part of this sacred community and we take that responsibility seriously.

BAYOU Bash REDUCE THE WASTE Week
This month’s Bayou Bash sets a scene with the vibrant sounds of Zydeco, Louisiana swamp music, second line and New Orleans bounce, the fragrant smells of seafood and beignets, and the beauty found in bayou culture. Unlike a Mardi Gras themed event, the Bayou Bash focuses on the diverse culture nestled beyond the Mardi Gras season.
Let's make a difference in the world around us! Reduce The Waste Week is a campus wide initiative that spans from on-campus to online to promote responsible eating and waste reduction. Guests will have the opportunity to opt into up to three challenges that will help educate others about food waste, take personal responsibility for minimizing food waste and connecting with others passionate about sustainability. Partnerships for additional volunteerism and weighing the waste are available as well.
