DAVID SAWYER
An Exhibition of New Paintings Atmospheric and technically brilliant, London native David Sawyer’s new body of work is a display of skill and accomplishment from the master of the urban landscape. Sawyer graduated from Canterbury College of Art in 1983 and has been exhibiting his oil and watercolour paintings in solo and mixed exhibitions internationally ever since. In 2004 Sawyer was elected to the Royal Society of British Artists from which he has received several awards and accolades, including The Daler-Rowney Award (2005), The Education Purchase Prize (2006), The Artists Magazine Prize (2009), The Arts Club Prize (2010) and the prestigious de Laszlo Medal during the 2012 RBA exhibition. Other notable prizes include The Royal Automobile Club, Centenary Art Prize (2011) and most recently The Julian Barrow Prize for a Painting, at the Chelsea Arts Society Exhibition, 2016. He has been commissioned by such notable establishments as the Cunard Liner ‘Queen Mary II’ State Rooms, and the Friedfrank Building of London City. Sawyer writes regularly for the national art press and his articles on painting techniques are well regarded amongst peers and enthusiasts alike.. For this exhibition Sawyer has visited a wide variety of subjects, largely inspired by his recent travels abroad in Lisbon, Sicily and Venice as well as Cambridge, Oxford and London. 2
