A current project is the new conception of the German biennale pavilion in Venice / Italy to design a new representation area for the German contributions of the biennale. I conceptualized a big neutral room for installations and exhibitions. The outside of the pavilion should be as simple as possible and do not tell anything about the light situation inside caused by the roof. So the visitor step into the pavilion through a small door on the front side, passes a narrow and high alleyway, which is still outside, and enters the main room. To exit the pavilion the visitor crosses a second alleyway and a big door at the end of the pavilion. Behind the door the visitor finds himself on a balk with an open view on Venice and its lagoon at its end.

The concept for 10 cities 10 towers deals with the influence of architecture on the identity of a city. One of the ten cities is Reykjavik, the capital of Iceland, and the city we worked on. Our research on the identity and culture showed that both country and city are full of contradictions in cultural and natural longings and in creativity. Besides that we discovered that Iceland and so Reykjavik are still enclaves despite their high potential in cultural and creative sectors. Consequently they do not get the adequate attention of the world community. So we decided that Reykjavik needs two towers. On the one hand the towers should illustrate the opposites in the Icelandic nature, the construction possibilities and the materials available. On the other hand they should give the creativity of Reykjavik a shelter and send a signal to the world, to break the isolation of the enclave.

The challenge of this design was to define an entrance to the city of Stuttgart and to utilize the intended building. I evolve the idea to have a complex which is evocative of a giant bridge. The Construction ought to be used for environmental research and development. Another part of the task was to integrate an old bunker tower, located nearby. This was achieved by using the bunker as construction and infrastructure provision. Two bars dock on both sides of the bunker and set up the main structure of the building. They are connected by boxes hanging between them. Offices and laboratories are located in the bars whereas all the communicative facilities e.g. meeting rooms, auditoriums, a library and a cafeteria are installed in the boxes. Finally, the roof of the building is projected as a research garden for studies and experimental work with public access. Thus the garden on the top is the public part of the building. Additionally it should work as a connector to the green spaces around and help to bridge the speedway underneath it.

In this conception we was faced with the task to create a new building for demonstrative purposes for the university of stuttgart. The new exhibition rooms should be used to show new an old developments of the university e.g. modules, facade structures or experimental ways of construction. The intention was a building with qualities like an ancient stoa. A neutral room which offers room for students and teachers to meet and communicate or just hang out without being exhibited. For that reason we planned an open and a closed area. The open area’s function is to offer room for big modules or structures. Whereas the closed area is overlaid by a big roof with a clear construction and hosts a permanent exhibition. In addition the open roofed room should be a place where celebrations and other events of the university take place.

The basic idea of the primaryschool-concept is to separate the public from the educational area of the school. To proceed this idea ,the staffroom, the auditorium and other parts of the building with similar purposes are located at the ground floor. As the former should not influence the teaching and learning environment of the school, the educational area is situated in the 1st floor. It is important that the children have their own zone for studying and teaching to develop their skills and talents. There are four classrooms, one in each corner of the building, to maximize the outside view and the amount of daylight. Beside the classroom comes a niche and a balcony where the children have the possibility to retreat. The inner yard of the building acts as connector between the two areas and the outside. Technically, the school building should symbolize a great rock in the hillside of Vaihingen.
