No shows are still about 10% for Family Members. Please call to cancel even up to the appointment time. If you have to show up late, it is better than not showing up at all. EACH loses Millions of dollars every year due to No shows. There are many new job positions at the hospital, to include 15 Medical Support Assistant jobs, which are entry level and a great way to get in to the federal system. www.usajobs.com. BLOOD DRIVE SEPT. 10-12 An Armed Services Blood Program blood drive takes place at the United States Air Force Academy Sept. 10-12 from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. each day in Arnold Hall. The Academy’s goal is to raise 1,200 units over the three days. All blood donated goes directly to ill or injured servicemembers, veterans and their Families worldwide. From the time the blood is donated, the blood will be in theater within one week to help an injured Soldier, Sailor, Airman or Marine. Making an appointment is easy. Visit www.militarydonor.com to register, and then search for the blood drive by using sponsor code USAFA1, or entering Colorado Springs, CO in the city/state fields. Appointments are not required but are encouraged. All blood types are welcome; however, in order to donate, you must: -Weigh at least 110 pounds -Be at least 17 years old -Have been feeling well for at least three days -Be well hydrated -Have eaten prior to donating -Have a state or federal form of photo identification Specific conditions and activities may prevent a potential donor from being eligible to donate. MILITARY SPOUSE CAREER DAY SEPT. 13-14 Army Community Service’s Employment Readiness Program hosts a Military Spouse Career Day Sept.13-14 at the Special Events Center, building 1829. MOBILE APP HELPS FAMILIES WITH MILITARY LIFE The Department of Defense has a new smartphone mobile application to help service members and their families manage the challenges of military life. LifeArmor has seventeen behavioral topics with information, assessments, videos with personal stories and interactive exercises to develop coping skills. LifeArmor can be downloaded for free at the App Store, Google Play and on the Amazon Marketplace. LifeArmor is a comprehensive learning and self-management tool to assist members of the military community with common mental health concerns. It was developed by psychologists at the Defense Department's National Center for Technology and Technology, known as T2, as a companion application to their AfterDeployment website. The new mobile application brings behavioral health topics from the website to smartphones and tablets, used by most service members. AfterDeployment was launched in 2008 to help service members returning from combat deployments. LifeArmor's behavioral topics are: Alcohol & Drugs, Anger, Anxiety, Depression, Families & Friendships, Families with Kids, Life Stress, Mild Traumatic Brain Injury, Military Sexual Trauma, Physical Injury, Post-Traumatic Stress, Resilience, Sleep, Spirituality, Stigma, Tobacco, and Work Adjustment.
