HAPPY BIRTHDAY AMERICA! Celebrating the Fourth of July is one of the best parts about summer. You get to barbecue with your family, watch fireworks, go to a parade—take part in all the fun summer activities. But another reason why July 4th is so special is because it’s Independence Day, a holiday celebrating the anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. It’s about celebrating the values that the country was founded upon. It is also a time to remember and honor those first Americans who made sacrifices to create the Republic and then defend it over the years. So have all the fun you want this Independence Day, and show your patriotism by celebrating and watching fireworks and be sure to Thank a Vet! We really enjoyed participating in the Smoky Mountain Thunder Memorial Ride again this year. It was a huge success even though there was a threat of storms that day, thousands of bikes showed up to honor all of our Fallen military and to bring awareness of what Memorial Day is all about. See the article in this issue for all the details and make plans now to be there next year. It’s a site to see if you’ve never been! They have already started on next year’s theme and getting the ball rolling, so stay tuned to their website and Facebook page for details. We also had a blast at the Tennessee State HOG Rally last month and you can read all about it in this issue. Look for some exciting news about next year’s rally too! You can definitely tell that summer is in full swing by looking at the Events page! We hope to see you at some of these great events and remember if you see us set up at any of them, you can get a bonus check-in if you have your ride card with you. Just stop by and see us and we’ll take care of you and if you don’t have your ride card yet, you can pick up your FREE Tennessee Thunder Run Ride n’ Win card at any of the Registration/Ride Stop listed in this issue and on our website. Ride card holders, make sure you look to see if your ride card number is listed as a winner so you can claim your prize. We will be set up at the AMA Pro Hillclimb on July 30th so stop by our trailer and see us! Look for the ad in this issue for all the details on this awesome event and make plans to be there. As always, please support to our amazing advertisers that support us by shopping at their businesses when you’re in need of a product or service they provide.

“The Inner Man” Eph.3:14-21 Paul talks about “being strengthened by His Spirit in The Inner Man.” Today’s Christians focus more on “The Outer Man,” our jobs, cars, homes and our positions in life. “That Christ may dwell in your hearts By Faith,” not by Emotions, Performance, Mysticism or Cynicism. Too many ministries have gotten away from the “Anointing of God” and turned to the “Entertainment of man.” I fully understand Emotions when God does move in someone’s life, but today we see too much “monkey see-monkey do.” It’s like being back in school having recess all day long and never learning anything. Then on the other side of the ditch we have some ministries that focus on Performance, you must do this and can’t do that and is based on legalism and not Grace. Mysticism is based on people who abuse the Gifts of the Holy Spirit to benefit themselves. The Bible warns us about this bunch, but if we don’t know the Word of God, we can be deceived by them. Cynicism come from the “holier than thou” crowd, that puts down anybody that don’t look like, talk like, act like them. These are not “Rooted & grounded.” Paul said “That we may be able to comprehend the breath, length, depth and height” of God’s love. But to be able to “comprehend” this, you must first go the full distance from start to finish of this “breath, length, depth, height.” You can’t go over God’s love, under it and can’t go around it. Once you realize God’s love for you, that in of itself will “strengthened your Inner Man.” Your “Inner Man” is a lot like your checking account. If you haven’t made deposits, then your account is empty. It doesn’t matter how many checks you’ve got left over. Sooner or later, life will make a demand (withdrawal) from you and if your account is empty, you’ll write a “faith check that will bounce. You’ll cry about it (Emotions), you’ll start to come to church more often (Performance), you’ll go down to the altar and get hands laid on you, get a bucket of oil poured on you (Mysticism) then you’ll get mad at God and the Pastor (Cynicism). Every time you pray, read God’s word, come to God’s house, you’re July 2016
making spiritual deposits in your “Inner Man.” Then Paul says “To know the love of Christ, which passes knowledge,” It appears that God is asking us to know the unknowable. This is a gift that God gives to all His children when they get born again, the ability to “Know the love of Christ.” You know that you are part of “The whole family of God” and you are loved by God, you’ll realize that you’re not alone. Paul then writes “That ye might be filled with all the fullness of God.” God wants to make three deposits into your “Inner Man to strengthened you,” 1) “To know your part of the whole family 2) “To know the love of Christ” 3) “To be filled with His Fullness” Vs.20 “Unto Him (God) that is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works IN US!” This “Power” is already “In us,” we get this power the day we are born again and just like natural children, we have to grow into it and learn how to use it by our Instruction Manual, God’s Word. Until next time, keep your face in the wind and your kickstand up. To be found faithful, Pastor Ron

BEATRICE is fun loving and energetic and waiting to have loads of fun with her new family. She is approx. 3 and a half years old and wants nothing more than a family of her own to play with and a big yard to run in. She is an absolute sweetheart. Her perfect home will be with adults and older children. Someone who will play chase, and fetch and, who knows, maybe take her running and hiking. She likes other dogs but she’s not so great around cats. If you have a dog in your home, please bring them to the shelter for a meet & greet so we can be sure you have a total love match.
CY just looks like he’s got mischief on his mind with that cute little wink. He’s about a year and a half old, so still has some goober tendencies like any puppy. He’s been neutered, is up to date on all of his shots and is heartworm negative. Come check this fellow out!
CLAIRE is a 12 week old girl who loves to play and cuddle. She is a total affection hog. She loves toys and would be your couch companion.
LEO is a 4 year old, sweet boy with some kid experience under his belt. His last owner coached little league and he just loves the children. At 90lbs, he is a bit much for small kids. He’s a Sharpei/ Shepherd mix, which means he has energy and loyalty.
COLE is a 4 year old boy with heartworms. However, that doesn’t stop him from also being awesome, friendly, playful, endearing, and a big cuddler. He needs a chance in the world to spread his tail and love. He has a lot to give.
LULU is a 3 year old affectionate girl with a love for all things. She wants to play with anyone who will sit still long enough. Great running partner, too! Recommended for homes without cats and small children as her energy level is high.

REX is the King of the Couch. He loves to cuddle and is very submissive. He needs a calm home with people who also like to play. He is not recommended with cats.
WHERE’S WALDO? Right here. This boy loves to play and run. He would do well with other dogs, but is not recommended with cats. He loves toys and can’t wait to be your friend.
Tennessee Biker Medical Clinic’s 15th Annual Poker Run BY: REBEL RON Saturday June 4th was the day for Pastor Ron Baptiste’s annual fundraiser for the Covenant Confirmers Ministries cool church and much needed Medical Clinic. Unfortunately the weathermen gave a forecast of 80% chance of rain all day which often causes such events to suffer with a low turnout of riders. Several of my riding buddies were to meet me in Peytonsville to make the ride to Springfield but it was raining pretty hard off and on all morning. Only my buddy Joe The Plumber was dumb enough to show up and go with me :) We waited for a large rain cloud to pass then we took off headed North. We hit a slight shower near Cool Springs but did not see another drop of rain until we rode back to Franklin hours later. The entire route we took for the Poker Run to Appleton H-D, Hwy 12 Motorsports, and the Outlaws MC clubhouse was dry too. Apparently it rained at every stop of the Poker Run before we arrived and again after we left. Maybe Pastor Ron has a better connection to the big guy upstairs than we all know about? Actually that may be

very true, especially if you have seen the brutal bike crash video of Bro. Ron when he wrecked his Capt. America chopper while a film crew was taping him a few years back. It was a great ride through the back roads of Tennessee to Clarksville, then down to Ashland City and over the Music City to the Outlaws MC that has been in Nashville for 44 years. Despite the threat of rain there was still a pretty good turnout of riders prepared to support this worthy cause and it was a fun ride too! You must try to make it next year, regardless of the weather forecast. Lots of cool door prizes were given away too. Those of you who did not make the ride can also donate online to help this church’s clinic since you did not venture out on that rainy day. We’d certainly appreciate it. Pastor Ron wanted to not only thank the sponsors for this ride but also urge Tennessee riders to support the companies that support bikers in need. Special thanks go to, Appleton Harley-Davidson, Hwy 12 Motorsports, Pan Head Phil’s Music City Motorcycles, and Nashville Bike Week 2017. Ron also

wanted to thank the volunteers who selflessly helped with the ride and especially the bikers who came out in the less than perfect weather. Please visit www.covenantconfirmers.org to learn more about or donate to the “Tenn. Biker Medical Clinic” It is a free medical clinic for all bikers and their families. They have medical doctors, nurses, chiropractors, dentist, physical, and massage therapists. The Clinic operates without any government grants or filing any insurance forms, it is financially funded by all the sponsors and the Tennessee Confederation of Clubs, along with donations from concerned bikers. Y’all check out their web page and look for them on Facebook too. And if you, or someone you know needs help, reach out to them!!!! Good people there who do great work and their church has the coolest lectern ever!!!!!!! Check it out sometime. Ride safe & often.
Monument Valley Navajo Tribal Park
Monument Valley Navajo Tribal Park consists of 91,696 acres of high desert. Located on the border of Arizona and Utah, it is a portion of the 16 million acre reservation “given” to the Navajo Nation, which, also, includes a portion of New Mexico. Although all water must be hauled in daily, there is no electricity, except generators, and even wood has to be hauled in, 14 families live in the park. What it lacks in convenience it more than makes up for in beauty. We were told that building homes or businesses on tribal land is difficult, as the land can’t be mortgaged, at normal banks, as they can’t repossess tribal land. Usually, the older generation lives in a Hogan next to their offspring’s mobile home. A Hogan is one room, made of interlocking logs, covered with dirt and grass, with an east facing opening, and a smoke hole, in the center of the roof. It costs $20 for up to four to enter the park, with guided tours available. On the day of our visit, we were treated to a rare rain storm in the desert. Over hundreds of millions of years, erosion of the Rock Mountains caused a lowland basin to build up layers of sedimentary rock, which were then uplifted by pressure from below, to create a plateau one to three miles above sea level. The features of the Valley were left as the plateau eroded, over 50 million years. The remaining buttes, mesas, and spires, are truly spectacular! The names of the monuments are descriptive of the shapes. They include: East and West Mitten, Elephant Butte, Rain God Mesa (with streaks of water seeping through the sandstone), Totem Pole, Spearhead Mesa, Camel Butte, and The Thumb. This scenery has been made famous by numerous movies, especially the westerns of my youth. We were even treated to the obligatory Navajo on a horse, on a mesa, for a small donation, of course. This park is well worth the effort to get there. Don’t forget the Navajo use their real name Dine’, rather than the white man’s Navajo. Ride Safe and Have Fun!! Cooper

Smoky Mountain Thunder XVI Every May on the Sunday morning before Memorial Day, bikers from all over the country descend on the courthouse square of Sevierville TN. There they listen reverently to the opening ceremony of Smoky Mountain Thunder. Smoky Mountain Thunder is a memorial ride to pay tribute to our Fallen military, and raise awareness of the true meaning of Memorial Day. Ron and Sandy Giddis work tirelessly to promote and put on the ride every year out of respect for the fallen, and it’s a true labor of love for them, they receive nothing from it but satisfaction. The ride is free to all, and there are no commercial vendors. Memorial Day is the day set aside to remember the sacrifices of our military who have paid the ultimate price for our freedoms, over the years some people have lost sight of that. Raising awareness is one of the main goals of SMT, over 3500 motorcycles riding 65 miles through 5 counties is a great way to do it. This year’s event, the 16th Smoky Mountain Thunder featured the United States Coast Guard, the opening ceremony began with a prayer and a moving rendition of the Star Spangled Banner and other patriotic songs performed by members of the Smoky

Mountain Opry. The keynote speaker was Coast Guard veteran and Nashville Metro Police Sgt. Buddie Clark. The Coasties represented themselves well with several members of the Coast Guard Riders in attendance along with many other veterans groups. After an appearance by one of the American Bald Eagles from the American Eagle Foundation, a wreath was laid in honor of a fallen Coast Guardsman. Early weather reports had called for an 8o% chance of rain, but by Sunday only a few drops fell early in the morning and by the time the ride set off the weather was perfect. We rode the 65 miles to Veterans Overlook atop Clinch Mountain in Granger County passing thousands of people lining the roads waving flags, several Veterans were moved to stand beside the road and salute the riders as they passed, and as every year, continued ...

a flotilla of patriotically decorated boats on Douglas Lake. When all of the bikes were parked, before the closing ceremony began, a new monument dedicated to all veterans was unveiled. The monument was designed, funded and placed by Curtis Barnard. The closing ceremony included more performances by members of the Smoky Mountain Opry cast, closing remarks, and ended with a wreath laid on the veteran’s monument at the overlook. Thunder Roads Tennessee is proud to sponsor SMT, and Ron and Sandy would like to thank the rest of the sponsors, Nashville Bike Week 2017, Rocky Top Harley Davidson, Knoxville Harley Davidson, Colboch Harley Davidson, Coast Guard Riders, Five Oaks Tire and Service, ET Motorgear, 103.5 WIMZ, SSG Christopher W. July 2016
Thunder Roads® Tennessee will also be registering riders for Ride Cards at specific events throughout the year as we distribute magazines. Key events, such as Bike Nights may have special booth for Ride Card registrations. We will list these events each month on the Event Stops page in the magazine. In most cases, we will be offering special incentives to those checking in with their previously issued Ride Card at these stops. Thunder Roads® Tennessee will also be working with charities and various nonprofit events to include them in the Run schedule as well. This will be an easy means of encouraging participation and attracting riders from outside the local communities. In many cases, we will have specific prize drawings for those at these events. The Ride Cards will allow participants to easily and safely check in at all Stops. Some Thunder Roads® Tennessee Sponsors will also be offering discounts to readers that present the cards. Thunder Roads® will be listing special discounts and offers in the magazine throughout the year as an added value to readers and means of encouraging our partners to offer these extra savings. PLEASE NOTE: Once you have received your TENNESSEE RIDE CARD, you will not be asked to provide personal information or emails at any location for check-in. You simply enter your ride card number! This is not simply a “Chinese Fire Drill” or maddash across the state. This is a Ride program. It is meant to be a means for readers to discover new riding destinations and enjoy the ride there. In fact, we have designed the program to encourage folks to break out of their local routes and trek to the furthest corners of the state.
JUST GET OUT AND RIDE! We want to keep things exciting for you – the readers and riders on the run. We’re bikers and it’s all about the ride. We want to help create fun experiences for you and share some cool spots in our state. We have designed this run to entertain and challenge our readers – as well as promote our partners. If your business would like to be a Stop or be a Sponsor, please email us at TennesseeThunderRun@gmail.com
LET’S RIDE! As we mentioned, this is a dynamic event – intended to be tweaked and developed over time. If you have ideas, suggestions, or concerns – please don’t hesitate to let us know. You can email us at TennesseeThunderRun@gmail.com

2016 TENNESSEE STATE HOG RALLY
Memphis TN was the site of the 2016 Tennessee State Hog Rally the first week of June, and the Bluff City rolled out the red carpet for the HOGS. Several chapters from across the state were well represented, we saw members of many chapters from other states as well, and we even met a nice couple from France. It was an action packed rally from the start. After the opening ceremonies, rally goers were actually able to ride their bikes right up to the front steps of Elvis Presley’s Graceland for a photo op. A photographer was on hand to take photos with the King’s house as the backdrop. The rally committee had planned many interesting organized rides including a ride to the birthplace of the blues, and to civil war battlefields. The weather was off and on rain, but that didn’t stop the HOG members from riding to places like the Rattlesnake Saloon in Alabama, the Casinos in Tunica Mississippi, and a moonshine Distillery here in Tennessee, there were rides into 3 different states, and across west Tennessee. Both Bumpus locations, Collierville and Memphis had events planned for the HOG members in attendance. The Harley-Davidson Motor Company had their Demo fleet set up at Bumpus Harley-Davidson of Collierville offering demo rides on all of the different models, and Bumpus of Memphis had vendors set up with some great bands playing and a great party atmosphere. When the closing ceremony signaled the end of the rally, it also signaled the end of the era of the State HOG Rally format. By dropping the word State the hope is it will allow more creativity, and make people feel more comfortable going to rallies in other states. With that being said, the announcement was made that the next HOG Rally in the area will be returning to a familiar place for a lot of you, Cookeville Tennessee. See you there in 2017!

Bike of the Month
2000 Custom Sportster 1200
Congratulations to Chad Venable on winning our monthly Bike Contest on Facebook! First I would like to thank everyone who voted for my bike, all the bikes in the contest were really sharp. I received this bike in April of this year when my dad lost his battle with lung cancer April 9th and passed away. This bike was his pride and joy. It’s a 2000 model 1200 Sportster custom, we don’t know exactly what has been done to the motor, but we do know it’s fast. My dad had lots of help from Ward Meredith of Pensacola FL, my brother Bo Venable of Scottsboro AL, and myself. The paint is House of Kolor Chameleon done by Eddie Davis of Section AL. I will never change anything and I hope to pass it down to either my kids or a niece or nephew. I know my dad’s looking down from heaven with a smile on his face and bursting with pride and joy. Thank you very much for all the votes, it’s the best Father’s Day gift I could have asked for. R.I.P Dad and Happy Father’s Day. If you have a cool custom bike you would like to have featured in our magazine, enter it in our monthly contest by submitting a pic of your bike to ThunderRoadsTn@gmail.com

SIDE PORCH STEAKHOUSE by Bob “Bulldog” Ousley The Side Porch Steakhouse is in a house that was built in 1936. It’s located at 5689 Stage Road, Bartlett, Tennessee, 38134, just east of Memphis and North of interstate 40 and exit 18. If you have been inside many houses from that period you know that craftsmanship was common and houses were built to be warm, comfortable and inviting homes. This wonderful restaurant was at one time owned by a former mayor of Bartlett, Tennessee and was turned into a neighborhood steak house in 1976. A veteran named Tim Teel was working as the Service Manager at Bumpus Harley-Davidson in Memphis. Tim has always had a keen interest in cooking and was looking for an opportunity to get into the restaurant business. After watching the Side Porch Steakhouse for over a year opportunity finally presented itself. The steakhouse came up for sale. Several folks wanted to buy it but Tim was committed keeping it a steak house and maintaining the feel and tradition locals were familiar with. The former owner wanted the legacy to live on and was very happy to help Tim make his dream a reality. That was eight years ago. Tim has worked hard to perfect the Side Porch steak selections and add a mouthwatering variety of seafood, pork chops and chicken. Tim’s secret is in the highly guarded marinade recipe he developed. Whether your taste is bacon wrapped filet, New York Strip, Ribeye or a big T-bone you’ll be smiling at the melt in your mouth goodness. Tim added a full bar selection and some great wines to make the Side Porch perfect for that special celebration or just live the high life on a modest budget. I met Tim when he was involved in a veteran motorcycle organization. He was Chairman of the Board in the organization and I was lucky enough to get to know him and a great bunch of folks doing excellent work for veterans around the Memphis area. Tim has remained true to his veteran background and his commitment to give back and support veterans. He is very much a part of several veteran events and charitable activities including a long time event called Veteran Thunder. When you come into the restaurant you’ll see something you don’t normally find in a public restaurant. It’s a POW/ MIA table with a single place setting. This table is only there
36
to honor the missing and remember veterans associated with the restaurant. Customers are welcome to render a salute and view the veteran pictures on the table but this table is not used for making money. It’s strictly to honor veterans. The table was started to honor a World War II veteran affectionately known as “Mr. Jimmy.” Mr. Jimmy was a regular and a veteran of 7 invasions in the Pacific including Iwo Jima. When Mr. Jimmy passed away the table became a permanent place of honor. Tim won’t let an American hero just fade away. He lives the motto; You Are Not Forgotten. The very personal hands-on touch also extends to those who come in on their birthday. Tim is not just a great cook, motorcycle rider and veteran supporter. He is also a great singer!! He personally sings Happy Birthday to his guests and I’m told it’s a show stopper complete with applause every time he does it. The Side Porch is open from 4:30 to 8:30 Tuesday thru Thursday and 4:30 to 9:30 on Friday and Saturday. Sundays and Mondays are reserved for parties of 25 and over. When you come to the Side Porch it’s best to come a little early. It’s a popular place and there is generally a waiting list. This neighborhood steakhouse is well frequented by a lot of regulars and well worth the wait. If you bring a group of six or more its best to call ahead for availability. The number is (901) 377-2484. Tim’s heartfelt mission to give back extends to future generations too. He helps Bartlett High School students get a step in the right direction by giving good kids a job and excellent mentoring. He gets many former workers who come back after they have moved on to college or successful careers who want a good steak and to let Tim know how much they appreciate the guidance and opportunity he gave them starting out. You can contact the steak house at sideporchsteakhouse@yahoo.com or visit their website at www.sideporchsteakhouse.com. Let’s Ride to Eat!!! If you are out riding to eat and see me please come up and tell me your favorite places to go when you’re hungry and thirsty. “Will Ride to Eat” will be an ongoing article in Thunder Roads Magazine of Tennessee and we want to put the spotlight on the great history and variety of Tennessee’s biker friendly establishments

* WHAT’S NEW @ THE MARKET? You can now purchase pre-marinated baby-back ribs at your local big chain grocery (yes; Wally World) and they have the perfect seasoning blend, marinated (lots of slurping sauce) and then vacuum packed. Hello! You cook in oven for 2 hours and then throw them on the grill. Totally qualifies for a K.I.S.S. endorsement. And the best part....they come in Kansas City style, Cajun style, North Carolina style, Texas style. We’ve had these like (4) times now and turn out perfect every single time. Ya’ gotta try them!
E-Z MUFFIN TIN EGGS BENEDICT w/E-Z-est HOLLANDAISE SAUCE
38
Top each w/ an egg and sprinkle w/ salt & pepper. Bake until the eggs are just set; apprx. 15-20 mins. For the Hollandaise Sauce; In a blender, add the yolks, vinegar & cayenne. Pulse a few times to blend. With the blender running, gradually add the melted butter to make a smooth, creamy sauce. If the sauce seems too thick, add a tsp. of warm water to loosen. Be sure and season w/ your salt & pepper. Run a thin knife around the edge of each muffin cup & gently pop out of muffin tin to plate up. Serve piping hot, topped w/ Hollandaise sauce & sprinkled chives. These are so simple and taste amazing. * BACON TIP: Take your pound of bacon and cut it straight down the middle in half. It makes it so much easier to work with and you actually end up being able to fit more into a skillet.
COOL, CREAMY CUCUMBER SALAD
(Patricia Heaton’s recipe from The Chew; slightly revised)
* Perfect side-dish for any grilled meat.
1 Tube of Buttermilk Grands 6 Slices of Applewood Maple Bacon; rough chop 12 Cage Free Eggs; room temperature Nonstick cooking spray Salt & Pepper to Taste HOLLANDAISE SAUCE: 3 Large Egg Yolks 3 tsps. White Vinegar 1-1/2 Pinch of Cayenne Pepper 2 Sticks of Unsalted Real Butter; melted Salt & Pepper to taste 1 Rounded tsp. of Chives Get oven preheated to 350 degrees Spray a 12 cup nonstick muffin tin very generously w/ nonstick spray. Cut each Grand biscuit in half; horizontally, and then press it out thin (use rolling pin or if don’t have one use a glass) until it’s apprx. a 5-6 inch circle. Press each circle firmly in the bottom and going up the sides of each muffin cup. Divide the bacon evenly among all the muffin cups.
4 Ozs. Sour Cream 1 Tbl. White Whine Vinegar or Apple Cider Vinegar 3 Tbls. Dill (dry spice is fine) 1 Cucumber sliced apprx. 1/8 thick, apprx. 2 cups 1/3 Cup of Purple (it’s not red; it’s purple!) onion, sliced very thin and soaked in ice water) Salt & Pepper to taste & refrigerate at least 1 hour. Mix everything together; drain your purple onion and add either in rings or cut straight across to add as halves. I just put mine right on top of my grilled meat and it is so creamy and cold and great contract to hot meat right off the grill (remember to rest meat or the only juicy bite will be the first one).
JULY 4th WATERMELON SUNRISE 2 Cups Seedless Watermelon cut into big chunks 4 ozs. of Rum or Vodka 2 ounces simple syrup (simple syrup is just 1/2 cup sugar & 1/2 cup water mixed well). Add watermelon cubes to blender; puree & strain. In a large glass pitcher add puree, rum or vodka, simple syrup and juice of 1 lime. Stir to combine well. Pour over crushed ice and baby, you’re in Summer Heaven. Slurp!

Bullet Points I
couldn’t be more excited about the new products MagPul is bringing to market. I was able to see a preview of these products at an Industry show in Vegas called Shot Show! Seeing and holding the products the first thing that came to mind was Harley Davidson and Indian! After having some of these new products in hand now a couple months I can say I have put them to the test both on and off my Motorcycle. I saw the potential for these new products immediately and now can tell you all about them as well. Background on MagPul.com for those of you who aren’t sure who the hell I am talking about. MagPul started in 1999 out of the want to develop a simple device that helped in the manipulation of your magazines in stressful situations and environments. From these simple innovative designs came an industry giant. Since this is an article sponsored by the firearms industry (TN Gun Country) I want to challenge you to ask questions next time you go into your local gun store. Ask what is exactly a plastic magazine? Are they better then metal? Who is Magpul and what else do they make? Ok on to the Gear! Let me start with the MagPul Tejas Gun Belt “EL ORIGINAL” I cannot say more good things about this belt both for the FireArms industry and the Heavy Motorcycle world of Harley and Indian (Not to mention the custom builders out there in the world). For myself having been informed I am on the ISIS Kill list I take personal protection and my Every Day Carry (EDC) very seriously. I have always been drawn to local TACK stores for my belts. I like the sturdiness they have provided, the way they retain a holster while I draw my go to firearm (Glock 19) how comfortable that belt is wearing it daily both in a vehicle and on my bike. The “EL ORIGINAL” not only met my needs but also blew them out of the water in all conditions! I wear daily and honestly I have not ordered a back up belt yet which I know I need to! No more saggy, holes breaking, slacker belts for this guy! Lets talk DAKA! Coolest thing for your bags you will see this
July 2016
year! If you are like me your registration, insurance cards, and valuables are the last thing you think of when you take off on a long ride. I picked up three of the DAKA pouches so I could try out all of the sizes! I was immediately blown away of the uses I could come up with other then why I purchased them in the first place! With the largest bag being 9x13” and the smallest being 6x9” I use these welded bags for everything! Phones, medicine, important information like insurance, registration, I can’t think of what not to carry in them! I found myself loading one of my DAKA pouches up with 9mm ammo the other day to take to the range! Your imagination is your only limit! Under $30.00 for the largest bag is a deal! My favorite product Magpul released this year has to be the Ranch Gloves. Living in TN you can appreciate that fact that the days here aren’t always sunny SoCal riding days. Many times I have found myself in downpours with shitty gloves and shittier body protection on. When I got my hands on a set of the Ranch gloves from Magpul Core I wasn’t 100% sold. I didn’t fit the XL as they were a little big and I had a hard time getting my hands into the Lgs. I wanted to give these gloves a fair shake and replaced my old warn in trusty set of gloves and added these to my saddle bags. Sure enough if you ride in TN you will find rain. Having my Ranch gloves on while in that downpour was the best thing I could have done to them. With the wet gloves on my hands they became a second skin for me. I keep these gloves on my bike and close by always! Next thing I want to try is shooting my G19 with them! All and All MagPul has brought some of the newest and innovative products I have seen this year! Travis H. travis@secondchancemed.com www.secondchancemed.com Veteran Owned

THE MOST FUNCTIONAL ENGLISH WORD = Well……it’s shit. That’s right.....Shit! Shit may just be the most functional word in the English language. You can smoke shit, buy shit, sell shit, lose shit, find shit, forget shit, and tell others to eat shit. Some people know their shit, while others can’t tell the difference between shit and shineola. There are lucky shits, dumb shits, and crazy shits. There is bull shit, horse shit, and chicken shit. You can throw shit, sling shit, catch shit, shoot the shit, or duck when the shit hits the fan. You can give a shit or serve shit on a shingle. You can find yourself in deep shit or be happier than a pig in shit. Some days are colder than shit, some days are hotter than shit, and some days are just plain shitty. Some music sounds like shit, things can look like shit, and there are times when you feel like shit. You can have too much shit, not enough shit, the right shit, the wrong shit or a lot of weird shit. You can carry shit, have a mountain of shit, or find yourself up shit creek without a paddle. Sometimes everything you touch turns to shit and other times you fall in a bucket of shit and come out smelling like a rose. When you stop to consider all the facts, it’s the basic building block of the English language. And remember, once you know your shit, you don’t need to know anything else!! You could pass this along, if you give a shit; or not do so if you don’t give a shit! Well, Shit, it’s time for me to go. Just wanted you to know that I do give a shit and hope you had a nice day, without a bunch of shit. But, if you happened to catch a load of shit from some shit-head, well……Shit Happens! _______________________________________________________ A man and his wife, moved back home to their beloved Tennessee, from Minnesota. The husband had a wooden leg, and to insure it back in Minnesota would cost them $2000 per year. When they arrived in Tennessee, they went to an insurance agency to see how much it would cost to insure his wooden leg. The agent looked it up on the computer and said: “$39. even”. The husband was shocked and asked why it was so cheap here in Tennessee to insure it because it cost him $2,000 in Minnesota? The insurance agent turned his computer screen to the couple and said, ‘Well, here it is on the screen, it says: Any wooden structure, with a sprinkler system above it, is $39. You just have to know how to describe your current situation. (*Hillbillies have a creativity all their own). _______________________________________________________ An elderly man really took care of his body. He lifted weights and jogged six miles every day. 42
One morning he looked into the mirror, admiring his body, and noticed that he was suntanned all over with the exception of his penis. So he decided to do something about that. He went to the beach, undressed completely and buried himself in the sand, except for his penis, which he left sticking out of the sand. A bit later, two little old ladies came strolling along the beach, one using a cane to help her get along. Upon seeing the thing sticking out of the sand, The lady with the cane began to move the penis around with her cane. Remarking to the other little old lady, she said: “There really is no justice in the world.” The other little old lady asked: “What do you mean by that?” The first little old lady replied: “Look at that. When I was 20, I was curious about it.” “When I was 30, I enjoyed it.” “When I was 40, I asked for it.” “When I was 50, I paid for it.” “When I was 60, I prayed for it.” “When I was 70, I forgot about it.” “And now that I’m 80, the damned things are growing wild and I’m too old to squat.” _______________________________________________________ Confucius DIDN’T Say ...... Man who wants pretty nurse, must be patient. Passionate kiss, like spider web, leads to undoing of fly. Man fight with wife all day get no piece at night. It takes many nails to build a crib, but only one screw to fill it. _______________________________________________________ Lil’ Johnny’s mother tells him no breakfast until he does his chores. Well, he’s a little teed off, so he goes to feed the chickens, and he kicks a chicken. He goes to feed the cows, and he kicks a cow. He goes to feed the pigs, and he kicks a pig. He goes back in for breakfast and his mother gives him a bowl of dry cereal. “How come I don’t get any eggs and bacon? Why don’t I have any milk in my cereal?” he asks. “Well,” his mother says, “I saw you kick a chicken, so you don’t get any eggs for a month. I saw you kick the pig, so you don’t get any bacon for a month either. I saw you kick the cow so for a month you aren’t getting any milk.” Just then, his father comes down for breakfast and kicks the pussy cat halfway across the kitchen. The little boy looks up at his mother with a big smile and says, “You gonna’ tell him or should I?”

by Bob “Bulldog” Ousley Dear Fellow Veterans and Patriots of Tennessee: In July we celebrate America’s revolt and subsequent independence from England and rejoice that we live in America the free. I think there is good reason to believe our freedoms are under assault and shrinking but, never the less, July 4 is a national day to remember America’s independence. The original colonists came to America to escape over population in Europe, poverty and religious persecution. They came here in the 1500’s and 1600’s looking for the freedom to make their own life and live in freedom. They faced a wilderness, wild animals, scarce food and had to make or grow almost everything they needed to live. That experience made them very selfreliant and savvy to what it took to survive and gave them a different attitude and expectation for freedom. As the population of the colonies grew and England began to exercise more oversight and took action to benefit from the labors of the colonists a certain amount of dissatisfaction began to arise. As things got worse many of our forefathers believed that they had come here and made this land into something special and rebelled against England’s increasing oppression. Even as England imposed stricter laws and raised tariffs and taxes the majority of the colonists remained loyal to the King and were reluctant to risk their lives to retain the freedoms they had come to know. When the revolution against the King began, less than half the colonists were in favor of revolution. After George Washington’s army defeated the British and insured America as an independent country our forefathers set up a government system in an attempt to insure that our country would be of the people, by the people and for the people. They established the constitution and added specific amendments to give people the best chance going forward to live free from government domination. They understood that government is prone to seek power and oppress the general population. They understood that government and corruption go hand in hand.
July 2016
If that is not true then how is it possible that our government has allowed and sanctified illegal immigration and seems helpless to stop the influx of drugs by worldwide cartels? How can legal citizens be forced to pay for social programs for those who are here illegally? Why is our government pushing so hard to take away our only ability to protect ourselves from criminals and government oppression. Why have our public schools been turned into institutions of indoctrination in subjugation to government. Why has the media become just an arm of government propaganda and a supporter of subverting the first amendment through political correctness? Is it possible that many in government and high society are actually pleased about mass shootings and catastrophic incidents because it gives them license to exert more power and enact more laws that are outside the constitution as written? Make no mistake – there is an active movement to throw out the American constitution and “update” it for today’s “new normal.” How do you cook a live frog? You put him in a pan of cool water and gradually turn up the heat. By the time he realizes he’s being cooked it’s too late for him to save himself. Can you say “Ribitt?” I’m sorry to say that my good friend Warren G. King, age 90, and former World War II soldier and former prisoner of war passed away Memorial Day morning but at least he did his part and has been spared seeing those things he lived for and risked his life for taken away from him in this growing death by paper cuts. When you ride going forward, please fly the American flag. Read your history about the founding of our nation. Speak the truth in spite of political correctness. Support the basic right to protect ourselves from oppression. Demand honesty and justice from all three branches of our government. Above all, hold on to your liberty and freedom for without it we’re all just a crop to be harvested by the powerful. Keep the faith. Thank a vet for the freedoms we still enjoy and support politicians who will bring back the ones we’ve lost. Fly the flag of the people and be proud you’re an American. Hug the families of those still missing because their quest for closure has not ended. Live the good life and ride for those who can’t. Bulldog * My monthly column reflects my personal point of view and does not necessarily reflect the opinions of the Publishers of this magazine, but they, like me, acknowledge the sacrifices made for the privilege of Freedom of Speech, therefore, they gratefully let me rant. Thank you for reading my rants. Hope my opinions don’t offend anyone, but, we all should be grateful for the right to have free opinions.

THE AIM/NCOM MOTORCYCLE E-NEWS SERVICE is brought to you by Aid to Injured Motorcyclists (A.I.M.) and the National Coalition of Motorcyclists (NCOM), and is sponsored by the Law Offices of Richard M. Lester. If you’ve been involved in any kind of accident, call us at 1-(800) ON-A-BIKE or visit www.ON-A-BIKE.com. NCOM BIKER NEWSBYTES Compiled & Edited by Bill Bish, National Coalition of Motorcyclists (NCOM) ROCKFEST RESCINDS “NO COLORS” BAN When Rockfest announced on their website that no motorcycle club colors would be allowed in the Kansas City music festival, members of the motorcycle club community and the Kansas Confederation of Clubs (www.kscoc.net) reacted promptly, and within 24 hours event promoters rescinded the policy. “This ban is tantamount to profiling motorcycle club members based on how they look and prevents them from exercising their rights of free association and expression guaranteed under the First Amendment to the US Constitution,” wrote spokesperson Brian Cohoon in an open e-mail to Rockfest promoters, sponsors and every club in the Kansas COC condemning “in the strongest terms this outrageous ban on Motorcycle Clubs wearing their colors to Rockfest. News of this ban and our reaction to it is being disseminated by the most expeditious means possible to every Motorcycle Club in this region. We strongly encourage you to reconsider this ban and allow Motorcycle Club members to attend in whatever attire they deem appropriate in their individual judgment.” In addition to many individual clubs and representatives also voicing their disapproval to the radio station promoting “North America’s largest one-day music festival,” the Chairman of the neighboring Missouri Confederation of Clubs e-mailed Rockfest promoter KQRC-FM 98.9 The Rock in protest of the policy, and the Kansas A.I.M. Attorney (Aid to Injured Motorcyclists) was tasked with sending a letter condemning the ban. As a result of their coordinated activism, online language referring to the colors ban was immediately taken down and the show went on as usual May 14 without incident, just as it has since 1992. CLUB COLORS BARRED FROM HEADSTONE Before biker Richard Cody died on Sept. 5, 2013, he told his family and friends he wanted the logo of his beloved South Madison Motorcycle Club on his headstone, but nearly two years later his son Jeremy was forced to file a lawsuit against the city of Painesville, Ohio to make sure his father gets his last wish. Representing the family and club, Aid to Injured Motorcyclists 50
(A.I.M.) Attorney Ralph C. Buss filed a motion for preliminary and permanent injunction to prevent city officials from removing, defacing, touching or changing the headstone of the Vietnam veteran buried in Riverside Cemetery, after officials informed the Plaintiff that the club colors engraved into the back of his father’s grave marker, “is not deemed appropriate” and ordered the S.M.M.C. artwork to be removed within 60 days at their own expense. Buss told The News-Herald in a May 10 interview with the newspaper that “the headstone’s logo is not vulgar or offensive in any way, and it complies with the requirements that were in place in 2014 when it was installed” and further charged that new regulations “conveniently” passed afterwards violate the First Amendment and “are nothing more than a license allowing city employees or agents to judge a person’s expression and deny it without any reasoning.” All the media attention and ensuing barrage of publicity, including a 3,500-signature petition asking city council to allow the headstone to remain unaltered, and accompanying legal actions, resulted in the desired effect. “When I first got the letter from the City of Painesville telling me that after two years I had to remove my father’s headstone due to it being “offensive”, I was outraged,” Cody recently told Ridin’ On Motorcycle Magazine (www.RidinOn.com). “My only thoughts were ‘I don’t think so!’ For two months I pleaded with the city to change their minds and they were not budging. So I then got social media involved and contacted my attorney Ralph C. Buss, who just happens to be known for helping other motorcycle enthusiasts when in need. Within three days the City of Painesville decided it was in their best interest to let the stone be left there. It was my father’s wishes to have his club patch engraved on his headstone and I was not about to let that wish be taken from him.” NEW IMPROVED LANE SPLITTING BILL AMENDED IN CALIFORNIA Motorcyclists in California are allowed to travel between lanes of traffic because unlike the other 49 states there is no law against such maneuvering, creating a legal grey area, so AB 51 was introduced last year to codify the act of lane splitting and provide legal guidelines (no faster than 50mph, and no more than 15mph faster than traffic). But if it isn’t defined, it isn’t breaking the law, so motorcyclists generally opposed regulating “lane splitting”, preferring to leave well enough alone and not create another new crime, and so AB 51 was pulled by its sponsor, Assemblyman Bill Quirk (DHayward), because “Lane splitting is a very complex issue and the author feels he needs more time to work out the details so that it’s more likely to be signed.” At the time, the bill had passed the state Assembly and was on its way to the California Senate floor.

Now, AB 51 was recently resurrected and amended to its purest form, simply riding between cars, with no limiting language in the current wording of the bill, retaining the spirit of lane splitting and let the rider decide what’s safe. Even under current statutes, a rider can be cited with other violations for unsafe maneuvering. The new improved AB 51 strikes all references to miles per hour conditions, and simply defines “lane splitting” as “driving a motorcycle between rows of stopped or moving vehicles in the same lane, including both divided and undivided streets, roads, or highways.” Quirk’s office said the current bill has the expressed support of more than a dozen key organizations, among them motorcycle organizations such as ABATE of California, as well as multiple law enforcement agencies. AB 51 was swiftly approved by the State Assembly on May 28, 2016 by a vote of 58-14 and sent to the Senate where it passed Transportation and Housing Committee unanimously 11-0 on June 14 then re-referred to Appropriations Committee before coming up for a floor vote. Although lane “filtering” is common throughout Europe and Asia and many other countries, California is the only state where it is not expressly illegal. A bill to legalize lane-splitting in Nevada was voted down in 2013. A similar bill in Oregon was defeated in 2015. Other bills have surfaced and died in Arizona and Texas. TRUMP STUMPS AT ROLLING THUNDER MOTORCYCLE RUN IN D.C. Throngs of bikers listened on Sunday, May 29, as presumptive Presidential GOP nominee Donald J. Trump delivered remarks to a crowd at the Lincoln Memorial during the 29th annual RollJuly 2016
ing Thunder motorcycle run over Memorial Day weekend that is dedicated to accounting for military members taken as prisoners of war or listed as missing in action (POW/MIA). For the blunt-spoken real estate mogul and television celebrity, who stresses his desire to strengthen the military and improve how veterans are treated, the gathering provided a receptive audience. “Look at all these bikers,” Trump said with admiration. “Do we love the bikers? Yes. We love the bikers.” Wearing a red “Make America Great Again” hat and forgoing a necktie, Trump told the crowd of seeing large numbers of bikers at his campaign events. “I said, ‘What are they all doing here?’ and my people would say, ‘They’re here to protect you, Mr. Trump,’” he said. “It’s an amazing thing. And I want to tell you, some of these people are tough,” but added when he shakes their hands, “there is love, and it’s an incredible feeling, and that’s why I wanted to be with you today.” Trump’s supporters include a group called “Bikers for Trump,” which boasts more than 61,000 “likes” on Facebook. “I’m not a huge biker, I have to be honest with you, O.K.?” lamented Trump to the motorcycle gathering, “I always liked the limo better.” Nancy Regg, a spokeswoman for Rolling Thunder, told the New York Times that the group had invited Mr. Trump to appear. The group did not extend an invitation to Hillary Clinton or Senator Bernie Sanders, she said.
