FROM THE PUBLISHER I often hear people tell me that they don’t “believe” in print media any longer. To which I laugh and hand them a copy of our magazine. We may certainly be an exception to the rule, but we are not only surviving – we are continuing to grow and gain momentum with the support of an active readership. We are currently reaching an average of over 200,000 riders each month with the magazine – and over a million a month through our social media and online efforts. This year we’ve added several new major rallies as partners and have expanded into entirely new coverage areas. We’ve brought on new sponsors and have increased our page allocation for events by over 30%. It’s these events, which I truly believe are the life blood of our magazine. People primarily pick up magazines such as ours to see what is happening within the local motorcycle community. That’s the niche we occupy and the service we provide to local riders. We inform them of the local rides and shows. By doing so, we help many of the smaller and newer rides succeed – and help maintain the bigger more established ones as well. That’s what we do – we help inform the local riders. And we aren’t just talking about the local bike nights and poker runs – we’re also looking to introduce our readers to new events and other areas. These include AMA Vintage Motorcycle Days – where we saw many familiar faces that had never before been to Mid-Ohio for that amazing event. We came out and supported Jared Meese in his first year hosting the Lima ½ Mile Flat Track Races – and we brought a lot of the TRO Family with us. We heard from a lot of long time riders that had never been to a flat track race before. Kinda wild when you consider that while it’s hardly a new sport – it’s certainly one of the most exciting of the competitive powersports. It’s not enough for us to simply list the Bike Nights and run the ads. We want to keep presenting new things for your consideration and challenging you to expand your own horizons. This month I’m heading out to ride in my first Dual Sport event. (Ohio Valley BSA’s Reliability Run) As a lifelong road rider, this is pretty exciting stuff. And you’ll be able to hear about it right here. And I’m hoping that I might just start seeing some more familiar faces at such events – in addition to all the new friends we’re making. We aren’t content to simply do the same things every day, every week, or each year. We want to continue to grow – both as a magazine and as a rider. And we invite you to join us on this journey! As always, please feel free to email me anytime with any ideas or suggestions you might have. You can reach me at ThunderRoadsOhio@gmail.com

THE IRON COWBOY
RIDE FOR THE RHINOS August 21, 2016
Iron Pony, Westerville For those of you unaware, the Wilds (https:// thewilds.columbuszoo.org) is a 10,000 acre wildlife sanctuary located in Cumberland, Ohio. It’s the largest wildlife conservation center in North America – and it’s right in our backyard. The property encompases over 9,150 acres of reclaimed coal mind land – land dug by the dragline Big Muskie. It’s been repurposed and is now home to rare and endangered animals from around the world along with hundreds of indigenous species. Over 2,000 acres of pastures and a 27 acre carnivore conservation center provide a home to animals such as African Painted Dogs, Bactarian Camels, Cheetahs, a wide range of antelope, and of course White Rhinos. This educational facility is a tremendous resource for not only those in the area, but around the world as many of these otherwise
8
endangered species are flourishing in the safety of the sanctuary. The challenge, though, is in supporting such a facility. It has a considerable annual budget and is taxed with the cost of maintaining fresh water for all of the animals. To help support this incredible facility, Iron Pony has undertaken an effort to launch what they hope will become one of the largest rides in Ohio – The Iron Pony Motorsports First Annual Ride For Rhinos event to benefit The Wilds. Held on Sunday, August 21st; the ride will start at Iron Pony and then make its way to The Wilds in Cumberland, Ohio. First Bike out is at 9:30am and the ride is approximately 1 hour and 20 minutes. The cost is a very reasonable $15 per rider and passengers are just $5. Participants will receive an OpenAir Safari Pass to the Wilds ($30 value), a

collectible event T-shirt ($20 value), and Continental Breakfast ($10). Iron Pony has really committed themselves to this event and created an exceptional value for those participating. We’d like to invite everyone to join the Thunder Roads Ohio Crew for the launch of this exciting event and discover The Wilds – and the wildlife in our own backyard. Online participant registration for the ride is available on eventbrite.com”Ride For the Rhinos.”https://www.eventbrite.com/e/theride-for-rhinos-tickets-26…

PRODUCT REVIEW: ICON 1000 ELSINORE BOOT
JOIN THE TEAM TRO SCAVENGER HUNT Our winners from June were Eric Miller and Tyra Meredith.
As I’ve spent more time on our KLR’ and doing the whole dual sport thing – I’ve become much more acutely aware of some of my equipment deficiencies and poor riding habits. None so much as my choice in footwear. Now I’ve never been one to wear sandals or anything as foolish as “flip flops” – but I’ve never really considered really investing in good riding boots. As a lifelong road rider, I’ve always thought that a pair of old jump boots or the modern SWAT style boots were ideal. That is until I tried on a pair of ICON Elsinore’s.
Find our PRIZE LOGO in this month’s edition for your chance to win your choice of several great prizes – including Ohio Bike Week concert tickets and TRO Gear! Email us with the location of the PRIZE LOGO at BuckeyeThunderRun@gmail.com Please include SCAVENGER HUNT in the subject line.
Thunder Roads Ohio is actively looking to add Road Reps, Promotional Staff, Contributors, Photographers, and Area Managers all across Ohio. Thunder Roads Ohio is a grassroots organization that works with local representatives to help cover and serve the motorcycle community. We actively support hundreds of local charity events and organizations throughout the state in a variety of capacities. We are specifically looking to add team members in the following areas: Burton (Home Office) Cleveland Geneva New Philly / Dover Toledo Zanesville
When you think about it – your foot is only inches from the speeding pavement, why wouldn’t you want to really protect your toes? How about a reinforced front that feels like steel and a heavy molded leather shin plate to protect your leg from debris? How about a boot that’s heavy enough to protect your feet, ankles, and shins as if you were out racing through the woods – but comfortable enough to ride on the road. That’s pretty much the Icon Elsinore.
For more information, please email us at ThunderRoadsOhio@gmail. com or stop on out to an event and introduce yourself.
Now admittedly, I picked up the Elsinore because it jumped out as a really cool looking boot. But as soon as I picked it up, I realized that there was a lot more to it. It’s a well made boot that provides support and protection while I ride. They have five buckles on one side that allow you to make certain they fit you perfectly while on – and then a zipper on the other to make it easy to take them off and on. Motocross and racing guys are certainly familiar with the difference a good riding boot makes. For us road guys, it’s something of a new experience. I picked these boots up a few weeks ago, and I’ve been wearing them ever since. I found this pair at Iron Pony in Westerville. The staff there was extremely helpful and put up with far too many questions without ever complaining or giving any attitude. This is an unsolicited endorsement for both the product and the shop I purchased them at – just a recommendation that I thought I’d share, because that’s what I do! THUNDER ROADS® OHIO MAGAZINE

ABATE OF OHIO, INC.
SAFETY REPORT Hi Friends, Well we are half way through this year and we are no way in great shape but not looking to bad. In 2015 we had 1,439 crashes, 53 fatalities; in 2016 we had 1,469 crashes, 51 fatalities. This report was taken the day before 4th of July weekend so if all my friends can keep out of trouble I will be so happy. One of our big facts is that more than 50% of the time we cause the crash. But we are doing better by 1% but will take that as we are getting better. Now for the last fact is that the 21 to 25 have more injuries but the 61 to 65 have more fatalities with 36 to 40 in 2nd in both crashes and fatalities. Lets all of us work hard at riding safe and help your friends stay safe, RIDE RESPOSIBLE, TAKE RESPOSIBILITY and BE RESPOSIBLE. The MRF (Motorcycle Riders Foundation) Has introduced a new slogan “Ride Aware, Drive Aware and Live Aware”. We need to take this and work on it because it does touch all the bases. We all know that we need to Ride Aware; we work on this from day one. Tell your family and friends to Drive Aware and keep putting those yard signs out “Look Twice Save a Life” and a magnate “Look out for Motorcycles” on the back of every car. And the last is Live Aware this to me means we to get every fellow biker to be a member of ABATE, the MRF or AMA (American Motorcycle Association). And support our freedom to ride and live our life. Today our world is moving so fast that we keep increasing accidents and fatalities. Many lawmakers see the answer in smart technology, in the next thirty years our country will grow by 70 million people. In solving this problem one factor that is being over looked is the Motorcycle. We need to keep pushing and force these lawmakers to keep us in their objective. Columbus is one of these cities that are leading the way we need to be a part of this. And we will be with all of your
14
help when we call for you to talk to your locale legislator you, the Motorcyclist, need to make that call or stop by their office. On this same subject off safety, Parise is restricting Motorcycles built before 2000 from being ridden in the city at different time during the week. This is just not for motorcycles but even banding old car. As many of us remember from the past that some countries in Europe do have recycle program, meaning that when you trade in your bike it goes to recycle and you get a credit on you knew bike. With this being said support your Motorcycle Rights Organization so that you are not the last to know. You hear some of the best things on face book, a couple of riders have written that they were forced off the road. Would be nice to have more info but as I ride and watch other riders I see them riding in the right side of the lane. If you ride more to the left side and let those drivers know you’re in that lane you will be more of a force. When riding in a group and staggered stay close so drivers can’t get in between. And last when riding with friends talk over how you are going to handle emergency situations be smart. As I said we are half way through this riding season remember more drivers are driving distracted and we need to be ready at all times. If you see your friends starting to ride a little reclus have a talk with them and tell them that we need to be Responsible. Thank You.

The Best Laid Plans For a long time Becky and I have talked about what it would be like to ride the “Mother Road” on our motorcycle. Around January 2016, we started talking about it in a more serious way. In June 2016 we would celebrate our 40th Wedding Anniversary and what better way to celebrate it than to ride Route 66 on the motorcycle. To say the least Becky was a bit skeptical about the whole idea and of course the cost. We continued our discussions on-and-off through the middle of February when I called and purchased an Airline ticket for her to fly from Port Columbus to LAX in Los Angeles, CA. See we had come to the decision because of her work the only way for us to accomplish this trip was for me to ride the bike out to CA leaving on June 12 and for her to fly out 4 days later. Her flight was to arrive shortly after 8:00 a.m. I would pick her up at the terminal and we would head to Santa Monica Pier to begin our adventure. Once the airline ticket was finalized Becky said, well I guess this means we are going! 6:00 a.m., June 12th arrived and our plans began to take motion. For the next three days I rode over 715 miles each day and on the last day I only had to cover 126 miles to be poised and ready for her arrival. I waited for her to text me saying she was at the drop-off/pick-up dock at LAX ready to begin our trip to Santa Monica Pier. I got it and we were off and running. The plan was to average 240 miles per day. She only had two weeks of vacation and the route is basically 2,278 miles from LA to Chicago. I service the motorcycle every 5,000 miles and in planning our trip I was confident if it was serviced right before leaving we could complete the trip without exceeding my normal 5,000 mile service interval. What I forgot to figure in were the planned side trips and allowing for the unexpected side trips. As a result while in Springfield, IL, I serviced the bike in a parking lot and was able to recycle the used oil at the business which owned the parking lot. We continued on to complete our adventure and headed home. In 15 days I rode 5,530 miles while Becky in 11 of those days rode 3,162 of the 5,530 miles on the back of the motorcycle as we completed our adventure. I’m reminded of Jeremiah 29:11-13, NASB, “For I know the plans that I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for calamity to give you a future 18

Jeremiah was a prophet sent by God to the Israelite people sent into exile from Jerusalem to Babylon. He encouraged them not to give up hope for a better future and for a return to Jerusalem. In the same way God is calling us home to him. Meaning He wants to be our Lord and our God. He wants to bring us back to Him where we originated from. Each of us were created by God and He has a plan for our lives. Our trip was fun and adventurous. But without God we would not have had the opportunities to pray for those whom we met along the way. Encouraging them in their life experiences and reminding them God loves them too and He has a plan for their lives as well. What about you? Will you listen and respond to God? Make plans to include God in your life today. Jesus loves you! The “Best Laid Plans” for your life will include God. GR (Jerry) Niver CMA Ohio State Coordinator

Toledo Celebrates the 4th with Bubba Blackwell Holy Toledo … Is that Bubba Blackwell??? Toledo Harley-Davidson celebrated the 4th of July weekend with flying colors! Saturday July 2nd Toledo-Harley Davidson offered the public quite the experience. Free Demo Rides, Free Vito’s Pizza, D.J. Tommy and live music with the band Soulofus (‘Soul Of Us’). The dealership topped that all off with two stunt shows with BUBBA Blackwell himself. Toledo Police Motorcycle Unit officers provided the public with two demonstrations for the halftime show. Officer S. Swartz (Bike # 41) preformed riding maneuvers and Officer T.G. LaForce (Bike #35) showed everyone the proper way to pick up a dropped bike. The weather was amazing and everyone had a great time! If you were not there you missed out on a fantastic day!! After 21 years of performing professional stunt riding on Buell and Harley-Davidson Motorcycles, Bubba Blackwell said he officially retired on August 15, 2015. Yes, last year, you just can’t keep a good man down. Bubba Blackwell is best known for breaking Evel Knievel’s jump record for both cars and buses using a Harley-Davidson XR-750 flat-track racing motorcycle.

It all started in April 1998 when Bubba jumped 20 cars in Everett, Massachusetts, breaking the 19 car record held by Evel Knievel. The following year Jay Leno had Bubba on The Tonight Show where he jumped 14 buses, tying the record held by Knievel. That same year Bubba broke the record by jumping 15 buses. On his 41st birthday Blackwell broke Knievel’s last remaining jump record on a HarleyDavidson XR-750 by jumping 52 stacked cars on October 4, 2008. On July 4, 2001, Blackwell attempted to beat his own record, attempting to jump 22 cars on a soft dirt horse track. Blackwell lost traction and was unable to obtain the necessary speed to clear the jump. He came up short and crashed. The crash was featured on the Discovery Channel’s “Destroyed In Seconds”. In 2013, Blackwell jumped over two helicopters with their blades rotating. He also returned to Ukes Harley-Davidson that same year for a jump to celebrate the 110th Harley-Davidson Anniversary. During shows Bubba rotates between several motorcycles, including: A Harley-Davidson XR-750/ Buell designed as a dirt track race bike (jump bike) A Harley-Davidson XR-1200/ Sportster (stunt bike) A Harley-Davidson Super Glide/ Dyna (stunt bike) A Harley-Davidson FLHTCU/ Full dressed touring (stunt bike) And my favorite a Harley-Davidson VRSC / V-Rod (stunt bike)

PRESENTED BY GEICO INSURANCE & THUNDER ROADS OHIO MAGAZINE Thunder Roads Ohio is proud to announce that this summer; we will once again be hosting the BUCKEYE THUNDER RUN - a state-wide, summer-long riding challenge hitting the coolest riding destinations and events across Ohio, presented by GEICO Insurance! This is a riding challenge like no-other and features great prizes every month that you earn by simply getting out to ride!
The Way it Works
E
ach month Thunder Roads Ohio will announce a list of Thunder Run Stops each month. These stops are selected based upon the recommendations of our readers and confirmed by our editors. ALL STOPS have been screened by our Editors and are places we feel comfortable recommending to you. We never simply add a stop because they are willing to write a check. Riders can then hit these locations and present their Rider Cards in order to register at each stop. Once a Rider has registered at the stop - their Card number is then entered into the drawing for that stop. Thunder Roads will then select rider checksin’s randomly each month from across the state for special prizes and incentives. Extra “check-in’s” are awarded for ride stops more then 100 miles from home. Prizes are developed by both Thunder Roads and our sponsors - allowing for some exciting options. They may include stays at exciting locations, riding gear or accessories, gift certificates, cash, rally passes, concert tickets, and even the opportunity to win factory and custom motorcycles! The beauty and simplicity of this program is that anyone can win with any check-in, but your chances of winning are increased by the amount you ride! The dedicated rider treking across the state has a greater chance of accumulating prizes - but the couple that can only get out a few days a month to ride can also win! Every check-in counts as an entry in the “drawing” - so if you hit 40 stops in a month, you have twice as many chances of winning as someone that only hits 20. The more you ride - the more opportunities you will have to win! That’s the whole idea - to encourage everyone to get out and ride!

State and Stop Prizes
E
very month the TRO staff will randomly select winners from the check-ins. Some prizes will be specific to the particular stop - and usually sponsored by that stop. For instance, a leather shop may award a custom leather vest to someone visiting their store during the month of June. That would be a prize specific to that stop and only riders checking in at that location would be eligible for that prize. Other prizes will be state wide, with everyone checking in at any location eligible to win!
The Winners
I
f your check-in is drawn, Thunder Roads will post your card number both online and in the magazine. Riders will then have at least 45 days to “claim” their prizes. For state-wide prizes, winners will often have the opportunity to select from a number of prize options. For instance, a rider might have the option of winning an Ohio Bike Week Rally Package that includes accommodations and extras for attending North Coast Thunder Rally. If that rider isn’t able to take advantage of that prize - they might opt for a Premium Leather Jacket instead. • Riders are able to win multiple prizes - based upon the drawing of their check-in’s. • Some prize drawings are specific to only check-in’s for the particular month - while others prizes are drawn from check-in’s all season long. • ALL CHECK-IN’s remain in the system for end of the season prizes! • Riders are able to check-in once a week at a stop (Monday-Sunday), for a maximum of 4 check-in’s per month (not counting bonuses). In 2015, riders had the chance to win 4 different motorcycles, Sturgis Rally Packages, hundreds of tickets to concerts and some of the most exciting motorcycle events in the state, and countless other great prizes! 2016 WILL BE EVEN BIGGER with MORE PRIZES, MORE RIDERS, and EVEN MORE EVENTS!

BONUS Check-in´s!
T
he 2016 Buckeye Thunder Run is supported by our sponsors, so we want to encourage everyone to support them in turn. For that reason, we will issue a BONUS CHECK-IN to riders spending $10 or more at the stop. The bonus criteria may be adjusted at some stops to accommodate riders on particulars of that stop. Specifics of each stop will be listed each month in Thunder Roads as part of the Stop Listing. It’s really that simple!
hosting the run as simply a means of supporting the magazine, but as a fun way to promote partners and cool destinations all across the state. This is not simply a “Chinese fire drill” or mad-dash across the state. This is a Ride program. It is meant to be a means for readers to discover new riding destinations and enjoy the ride there. In fact, we have designed the program to encourage folks to break out of their local routes and trek to the furthest corners of the state.
1. Get your Ohio Ride Card. 2. Get the list of stops each month from your Thunder Roads Magazine, the website (ThunderRoadsOhio.com), or Facebook. 3. Ride out to these stops and show them your card. 4. And then you win cool prizes, including cold hard CASH! The first step will be for riders to register for their Thunder Roads Ohio Ride Cards. A number of select locations will serve as Registration Centers. Riders can easily register at these points – free of charge. They will then receive their Ride Cards.
You can request a Ride Card through our website!
Y
ou can now go online and register for your Thunder Run Ride Card through our website – www.ThunderRoadsOhio. com. Simply head to the TRO Online Store and order your Ride Card. There is a $5 convenience fee for this option – but ALL PROCEEDS are applied to our Warrior Fund, sponsoring charitable motorcycle events and organizations across Ohio. PLEASE NOTE - You can still use your previous Ride Cards. All Ride Card registrations carry over, however you are welcome to pick up a new shiny one if you’d like. Thunder Roads will also be registering riders for Ride Cards at specific events throughout the year as we distribute magazines. Key events, such as Ohio Bike Week or Bike Nights will have special booths for Ride Card registrations. In most cases, we will be offering special incentives both for those registering for the cards and those checking in with their previously issued cards at these stops. Thunder Roads will also be working with charities and various non-profit events to include them in the Run schedule as well. This will be an easy means of encouraging participation and attracting riders from outside the local communities. In many cases, we will have specific prize drawings for those at these events.
Just Get Out and RIDE! One of the really exciting aspects of the program is that the Buckeye Thunder Run can be modified and added to throughout the summer – if not the entire year. We will be adding and dropping stops each month. Readers will be able to nominate stops, we’ll investigate them, and if we agree that it’s a suitable stop – they’ll be invited to join the run. Some stops will only run a few months – and possibly not consecutive. A cool winery in Geneva might be a stop early in the season, and then we bring them back during the harvest season! We can also modify the run if it turns out that something just isn’t working. We want to keep things exciting for you – the readers and riders on the run. We’re bikers and it’s all about the ride. We want to help create fun experiences for you and share some cool spots in our state. And we want to discover new spots as well, which is why we are encouraging everyone to nominate their favorite riding destinations. Again this is not simply a sales tool for us or meant to subsidize the magazine! We have designed this run to entertain and challenge our readers – as well as promote our partners.
The Ride Cards will allow participants to easily and safely check in at all stops. Some Thunder Roads Sponsors will also be offering discounts to readers that present the cards. Thunder Roads will be listing special discounts and offers in the magazine throughout the year as an added value to readers and means of encouraging our partners to offer these extra savings. PLEASE NOTE: Once you have received your OHIO RIDE CARD, you will not be asked to provide personal information or emails at any location for check-in. You simply enter your ride card number! One key aspect of the BTR is that we will be limiting the number of stops to a reasonable amount each month. We are NOT simply adding anyone willing to write a check. We will be considering stops recommended by our readers and editors, and we will only select those that offer a legitimate interest to riders – making them worth the ride to visit. Again this is not simply a sales tool for us or meant to subsidize the magazine! We have designed this run to entertain and challenge our readers – as well as promote our partners. As with the magazine itself, the Buckeye Thunder Run is presented through the support of our sponsors and partners all across the state. We have secured several key sponsorships already, but opportunities remain. If your business would like to get involved, this is a great way to promote yourself all across the state in a positive manner. Even if your organization is not a riding destination you might become a sponsor for the tremendous promotional value it offers through the constant media attention it will receive. Obviously this will be a heavy focus within the magazine but we are also working with radio and other media outlets to help spread awareness of the run. Sponsors are able to tap into this network and enjoy great exposure. We also have a number of unique opportunities for branding - including being featured on contest motorcycles, jackets, shirts, and other opportunities. The exact number and nature of these options will be determined as details are finalized and as the promotion develops over the summer. Sponsors will ALWAYS have first priority in these placements. Sponsors will also have the opportunity to team up with Thunder Roads to help promote various charity events across the state. The Buckeye Thunder Run is a great vehicle to help promote non-profit events in communities all across the state. With the support of regional and state-wide sponsors – Thunder Roads can help promote these community events to a larger audience. Thunder Roads is involved in countless charitable events all across the state already – but with the support of our sponsors, we will be able to assist even more. Partners can assist in the sponsorship of specific events, areas of concern (such as breast cancer, child abuse, or animal shelters), or other specific areas. For more information on sponsorship, please email us at ThunderRoadsOhio@gmail.com Of course one of the key components in this whole program, second only to the riders themselves, is the stops. The Thunder Roads team has spent a lot of time collecting nominations and researching stops for the Run; but there are undoubtedly plenty of more stops out there. If you have a venue or event that you would like to get involved in the run, please don’t hesitate to let us know about it. If it’s your place, we will get in touch shortly with more information on the run and what’s involved. If you are recommending a spot for someone else – we will reach out to them and let them know they have been nominated. If you can suggest a contact person, that can help expedite the process. You can send information to BuckeyeThunderRun@gmail.com or call 440-678-8608.
The RIDE kicks off in MAY!
Pick up your card this winter at local shows or stops and get ready for a great summer! As we mentioned, this is a dynamic event – intended to be tweaked and developed over time. If you have ideas, suggestions, or concerns – please don’t hesitate to let us know. You can email us at BuckeyeThunderRun@gmail.com 28

KENNEDY STYLE
by: Denise Kennedy, TRO
OHIO SPEED WEEKEND A few years ago I did a piece titled Ohio Speed Week. Things have changed the last few years as the AMA/Moto America Superbikes no longer run at Mid-Ohio the weekend after Vintage Days. And although it may no longer be a full week AMA Vintage and WERA pulled out all the stops to make the 2016 AMA Vintage Days weekend a memorable one. From Vintage classes right through the modern Superbike classes were jam packed with 16 and 15 races Saturday and Sunday respectively. And that was just on the road course. Vintage Indians, Harleys, Kawasakis, Suzukis, Hondas, side cars, modern sport bikes competed throughout the weekend. In addition was Motocross, Hare Scrambles and even pit bike races held on the grounds and Saturday night flat track racing was alive and well at the Ashland County Fairgrounds.
Spectators were boundless and I was pleased to see the numbers of Harley riders that came out to see what Vintage Days were all about. I had the opportunity to speak to a few who had seen AMA Vintage Days advertised in TRO and they were pleasantly surprised. Countless riders seem to take advantage of the spectator rides on the track during the lunch break fueled I am sure by the free coupon in TRO. All ages and all makes of bikes were fully represented both days. It’s a chance to see the track the way the racers do albeit at a much slower pace. When it comes down to it events like Vintage Days it brings one to the
realization that riding is all about family. The riding community is joined together by the love of two wheels and the wind in your face. This past weekend was the opportunity to hang with some very dear friends. Friendships that developed over the years from the time we spent at the racetrack when our son was actively racing. I am still the track mom....it doesn’t matter the riders age...everyone calls me mom. And of course my TRO family. All good people. All brought together by two wheels. I look forward to next year’s Vintage Days. If 2016 is any indication it can only get better.
The weather cooperated and the swap meet had what seemed to be endless vendors. Happy buyers hauled that elusive part they had been searching for or that pit bike they just had to have. The Wall of Death Death provided thrills and new to Vintage Days this year was a beer garden and live music. KTM demo rides were available and a Custom Bike Builders and Suzuki Motors of America history of AMA Superbikes were displayed. Combined with great racing it made for a very full weekend. Former Suzuki Superbike Champ Wes Cooley was Grand Marshall and rode his Suzuki GS1000 which he piloted in his 1980 Superbike Championship.

Thunder Roads Ohio FACTORY FEATURE 2016 Victory Empulse TT: Our First Look. Each year the Thunder Roads Ohio Team adopts a few project bikes that we then take around with us to shows and rallies, customize to some extent, and generally just bang around on. We recently had the chance to bring on a new TRO Project Bike – one unlike anything else we’ve ever toyed with, the new 2016 Victory Empulse TT. At first look, the Empulse appears to be something of a naked sport bike – looking much more like a Ducati than something that might bear the Victory badge on it. Upon further inspection, though, folks start noticing a few peculiarities. First off, there’s no exhaust. That’s what most people notice right away. Then there’s the bulky midsection that is more square than “engine” looking. There’s a tank looking section up top – but that actually hides the built in charger and other gizmos. For this is no standard sport bike – this is a totally electric motorcycle. It’s a far cry, though, from the battery powered toys I’m considering for my son. This silent rocket can hit 100 mph and accelerates with enough pop to more than satisfy the adrenaline junkies out there. Electric vehicles are becoming more and more common these days, especially in terms of automobiles. Teslas are becoming more and more common, and all the major auto companies offer electric or hybrid cars at this point. Motorcycles, however, are a different story. The challenge is that electric motorcycles are generally very costly and have a whole new set of challenges, compared to an electric car and especially when compared to a gas motorcycle. Weight and range being the big limiting factors. Surprisingly, the big four Japanese manufacturers and the European establishment haven’t really seemed to touch it at all. Here in the United States, two smaller companies – Zero and Brammo have had some success over the last few years with a variety of models. (A few years ago we spent some time on a Zero and it was a lot of fun.) However, things have gotten more interesting within the last year or so, as Polaris purchased the motorcycle division of Brammo and Harley-Davidson introduced their own Livewire project bike. 52
While Harley-Davidson has taken the all electric Livewire bike on tour as a sneak peak into the possible future of riding, Polaris has seemingly dropped the Brammo bikes directly into their Victory line of motorcycles. Presenting the Empulse TT and this isn’t just a prototype bike – it’s on the showroom floor and available for purchase! Enter the Boss and his constant desire to try anything new on two wheels. Polaris has recently sought to develop a distinction between their Victory line and new Indian (but still America’s First Motorcycle Brand) division by focusing on power and the theme of “American Muscle” for Victory. This marketing effort has been underscored by a very real effort by Victory in a variety of competitive stages – such as the Victory Pro Dragbike Team, the Project 156 Pikes Peak Challenge, and the Isle of Man TT Zero Race. On these last two challenges, Victory has brought two teams – a traditional gas fueled crew and a new electric powered team. It appears as though these track efforts have not only garnered tremendous exposure and marketing value for the Victory name, but it may have taught some performance lessons as well for their electric bike efforts. The 2016 Victory Empulse TT is not simply a rebranded Brammo Empulse – the TT comes from the Isle of Man TT Zero Race and refers to some of the lessons learned there.
THUNDER ROADS® OHIO MAGAZINE
THUNDERROADSOHIO.COM
According to Victory: “Empulse TT shares some DNA with Brammo’s original Empulse R motorcycle, but after acquiring Brammo’s motorcycle assets last year, Victory Motorcycles’ engineering team has made significant steps forward in electric technology to create this new model (developed at the same time as the Isle of Man TT Zero bike). Improvements in the battery capacity, controller function and handling (lighter wheels) were all developed by Victory engineers combining their efforts with the previous Brammo team. Empulse TT achieves 100mph+ and has a high capacity 10.4kWh battery. The battery (manufactured by Brammo) fully charges up in just 3.5 hours using mains electricity flowing to a built-in charger (via a plug into the top of the ‘fuel tank’) with an 80 per cent charge can be achieved in just two hours. Accelerating up to 100MPH+ and the battery fully charges in 3.5hours. Where it matters most, the Empulse® TT is fast. It is 10,400 watt hours of proof that Victory® doesn›t just prove performance, we advance technology.” As I write this, we’ve just added the Empulse to the TRO stable and begun to see what it can do. We will come back and give you some more solid feedback and a more technical examination in a future issue; however, we’ve already clearly established a few things that we would like to share right away. OHIO’S MOTORCYCLE MAGAZINE
1.
This is a really fun bike to ride.
2.
It’s far more practical than we first imagined.
3.
If you have a chance, you should try one out.
First off, this is simply a blast to ride. The bike is extremely well balanced. Despite the weighty batteries and its overall 470 pound weight, it feels small and very maneuverable. This feeling is magnified by the fact that the bike is virtually silent. With its forward position and lack of rumble, you come just about as close to “flying” as you can on a motorcycle. I heard someone say that this bike is marketed for the “Tony Starks” (Iron Man) of the world – a reference to the cutting edge technology and what might be considered a high price tag (although I’d disagree). I thought that the comparison made far more sense when you considered what Tony Stark might feel flying around in his super suit. Despite being tethered to the ground, it’s hard not to feel as though you truly are flying through the streets and countryside. It’s truly a blast.
with average riding. Many scoff at this and seem to want to dismiss the bike because of this. “Hold On”, I say – asking them to reconsider. How long are most of your rides? Sure, I’m not going to jump on her and rip down to Dayton from Cleveland. But, that’s ok. I rode back and forth to the office the first week we had her and it was GREAT. I have a 10-15 mile commute, and this was certainly no problem each day. After several days, I simply plugged her into the wall at night and she was 100% in the morning. So she’s perfect for most commutes – and all without expending a drop of gas. How about around town, down to the local bike night, or just to grab coffee? Again a perfect choice – she’s
ready to go with a flip of the switch. Cost is really the biggest question, when it comes to practicality. The Empulse TT has a US MSRP starting at $19,999 according to the website. That’s right on par with a Ducati Diavel – which many consider the Ferrari of the motorcycle world. However, there are tax credits (electric vehicle, etc.) and incentives currently available that drop that down significantly. The real question, though, is how much is fair for a really fun bike that will be an absolute blast to run around town on? Fortunately I was able to pose this in front of a “mixed” crowd at the Bike Night that I was at last night. I knew that at least one person in front of me had dropped at least $25-30k on a ground pounding, stretched
The first question that everyone asks is what’s the range. Through “throttle management and regenerative charging” (and possibly a strong wind while going downhill) it can reach 100 miles according to the folks at Victory. From our experience so far, it appears as though 5060 miles is a much more realistic number THUNDER THUNDER ROADS® ROADS® OHIO OHIO MAGAZINE MAGAZINE

out chopper just a few years ago when they were all the rage. More recently, two fellows in the group had recently dropped FAR MORE than that on two monster big wheel baggers that were parked close by – and weren’t getting half as much attention as my silent Victory. And none of those bikes were getting run for many more miles than I was putting on the Empulse.
something to be said for throwing your leg over a bike and riding to work at the crack of dawn – and being able to hear the birds and the sounds of the morning. It’s kinda cool. Next month – we will look at more of the technical aspects of the bike and consider the fact that she has a transmission!
Which brings me to my last point that I want to make in this first consideration of our Empulse TRO Project Bike. You really just need to get on one and try it out. Fortunately, our friends over at American Heritage Motorcycles have several of them available to Demo. Just give them a call or stop on by. Even if you’ve never been a fan of the sport bike styling and are a cruiser at heart – give it a try. It’s a totally different experience. My Road Glide certainly has nothing to fear, she’s still my steady date for jaunts across the state or beyond. And sometimes you just want to hear the roar of the pipes, that always gets the blood pumping. But I’ll tell ya, there’s

Brandon Robinson wins 2016 Lima Half Mile
rewarding. It feels good.” Mees, who promoted his first-ever AMA Pro Flat Track event Saturday night, enjoyed his success both on and off the track. “Hats off to their whole team,” Mees said. “They’ve been struggling and this is definitely going to give them some confidence, that’s for sure. It was a fun race. I got a good start at the very beginning and faded back and then I just started picking them off. The fitness played a big key and then we got a red flag so everybody got to calm down. I kind of wish I could’ve just ran 25 laps up in front there and maybe worn the boys out a little bit but it was great. I can’t thank my team enough.” Winner of the 2015 Lima Half-Mile, Baker, wanted more from this year’s edition. The Washington native closed out the podium and finished ahead of fourth-place No. 42 Bryan Smith and fifth-place No. 10 Johnny Lewis.
LIMA, Ohio (June 25, 2016) – In front of a full house on Saturday night at the Allen County Fairgrounds in Lima, Ohio, Brandon Robinson piloted the No. 44 Kennedy Racing Harley-Davidson XR750 to his first win since 2013 in the HarleyDavidson GNC1 presented by Vance & Hines class. The Lima Half-Mile, a longstanding staple on the AMA Pro Flat Track calendar now promoted by Jared and Nichole Mees, was another successful 2016 event for the sport. The defending champion bolted from the start to take the holeshot for the GNC1 Main Event, but quickly encountered a number of challenges from the rest of the field. “Mile Specialist” Bryan Smith and Factory Harley-Davidson rider Brad Baker each took the lead before the field completed the first lap, with Smith officially taking the point. Robinson showed that he wanted the win, however, and began to pull away from the pack after taking the lead on Lap 2.
this thing. The bike was working good, especially early when the track was smooth and had a lot of moisture it was hooked and working so flawlessly, and I was just along for the ride just switching the throttle. It made my job easy. Halfway through the race it started to get rougher and rougher and I wouldn’t say I was getting tired, I was just struggling adapting to the track a little bit. I figured it out there in the end. My initial thought was ‘Finally!’ Three years of coming close and not getting the job done and then finally getting it done here again. It’s just
“My line wasn’t working there for the beginning of the Main Event,” Baker said. “It took a couple of times almost crashing to figure it out and then I finally did. I felt like I was running consistent times when I was with the leaders, but by that time I was too far gone. I kept on missing shifts on the restarts. I think I would’ve had a chance to fight with these guys for the win if it wasn’t for that. I had a pretty intense battle with Bryan Smith and Johnny Lewis, he was bobbing pretty bad, almost clipped my bars a couple times but I guess that’s racing. I was mad, but Harley-Davidson, Monster Energy and Vance & Hines put a good bike under me.” In the GNC2 class, No. 94B Ryan Wells took home first place on his Honda
Despite two red-flag periods, Robinson refused to surrender the lead. The Pennsylvania-native made the Kennedy Racing team proud as he led the GNC1 class for 24 of the evening’s 25-lap Main Event, finishing ahead of reigning GNC1 champion, Mees, by a margin of 0.403 of a second. “I hate red flags,” Robinson said. “But it all played out tonight in my favor. I didn’t get the Hole Shot in the Main but I was second, so that was huge. About halfway, I put as many consistent laps as I could together and then I looked back over my shoulder to see that I had a pretty good lead and it was just clear sailing from there. I just made sure I didn’t make too big of a mistake for them to be able to capitalize if I went down or something. CHILLI RETURNS THUNDER ROADS OHIO FEATURE THUNDER RUN EVENT If you’ve ever considered yourself a biker, there’s one event that is a must for your “bucket list” and may just warrant a regular spot on the calendar each year – The Chillicothe Rodeo. This doesn’t simply apply to those here in Ohio, but throughout the Midwest – and maybe even nationally. Very few events have the old school biker tradition or national recognition that the Chillicothe Easyriders Rodeo boasts. A blend of field games, motorcycle drags, live entertainment, and old school craziness – it’s something that really needs to be experienced to fully appreciate. Known simply as “Chilli” to bikers nationwide, far too many Ohioans simply take this biker institution for granted because it happens to be in our backyard. If you’ve never been – come on out and join the fun. If you’re a Chilli Veteran chances are that you already have that twinkle in your eye as you recall past year’s craziness.
EASYRIDERS 2016 CHILLICOTHE RODEO
This year, our Easyriders friends continue to kick things up at Chillicothe with national recording artists each night – including: Moonshine Bandits, Kentucky Headhunters, and Hoobastank. Last year the Easyriders folks stepped things up with Colt Ford and Drowning Pool and they enjoyed one of the best concert crowds in years. They hope to continue this trend and draw people out of the campground and into the vendor / concert area in the evening. This is still an Easyriders event – so of course, custom bike builds are the norm and there’s a bike show with world class bikes on exhibit. It’s worth noting, though, that this is not the indoor invitational. This is a ride-in bike show, showcasing rolling works of art that are often times ridden all weekend throughout the fairgrounds. If you spend far more time riding your bike than polishing it, but you still take pride in her – this is the bike show for you! A little dust on the chrome is more than acceptable and the judges are expecting you to have a little grease on your hands as they congratulate you.
It’s important to understand that this is a weekend rally, and while there are a number of local rides and you can venture out – most of the activities are all right here at the fairgrounds. Folks come in, get set up for the weekend – and then it’s time to kick back and enjoy the festivities. You can come by just for the day and check out the rodeo games in the stadium, cruise the vendor area, and enjoy the main stage entertainment. However, you will only taste a portion of Chilli and be left wondering what it’s like to camp for the weekend and get the full CHILLI EXPERIENCE. For more information on the event, including tattoo artist and vendor applications – visit www. easyridersevents.com.

The Road Less Traveled
n the current Sate of the Nation, it’s difficult to stay on track with our motorcycle theme conversation. People shooting Cops, Hate, Vile Content, a nation more divided than ever. It’s pretty sickening. I’d love to write a patriotic quote that would bring us all together, but when people are posting videos and pictures to social media standing on and burning the American Flag, I struggle to find any common ground with those folks.
I
So I think I will just take off on a more enjoyable subject matter, riding our motorcycles! I recently relocated to Florida. Yes, I will still write for my buddy “The Iron Cowboy”, as well as some of these articles are published in other Thunder Roads States. I have always wanted to move to Florida so I could ride all year round. Obviously being raised an Ohio Farm Boy, to an MC Family, I wanted to stay active in my club, so I am fortunate that we have Chapters in the Sunny South! It sure is a different ride down here as opposed to the gray skies of the Midwest! Coming down in late spring for the summer riding season, it is HOT and WET! I’ve been drenched several times, often multiple times in the same day, but blue skies always prevail right after it rains! You know that riding for the limited good weather season we had up north, I’ll take it! Aside from my club planned rides, being new to this area, a very valuable asset is magazines just like this, Thunder Roads! I am fortunate that there is Thunder Roads Florida syndication. Not being from the area I had no clue as to where or when there are any motorcycle rallies, bike nights and events, aside form the obvious ones in Daytona. I looked up the events and advertisers in the magazine. It turns out that just as I had hoped, there is no shortage of outdoor venues for motorcycle’s with plenty of patio space, bands and great food! Just bring rain gear or tough it out depending on hope bad it comes down! You are all in the midst of your riding season up north. Although I wasn’t able to attend Ohio Bike Week in Sandusky this year, I sure saw plenty of great times being had on the Thunder Roads Ohio page! I hope you are all getting out and enjoying the events and backing the sponsors, without them we wouldn’t have any! By the time you read this Wetzel will have been notched off the event list for the year, but you all still have the Piqua Bike Fest, Geneva Thunder on the Strip and the Chillicothe Easy Rider Rodeo! So lots of fun stuff to do yet! Get out and enjoy the events! With all the problems in the world, and in this country, some of the best therapy is behind your handlebars! I bought my first street bike when I was 18 years old. I’ve ridden countless miles in the Midwest, and even out in Los Angeles for a spell. I really enjoy finding new roads, new towns, new neon patios, and meeting new people. My advice is to get off the overcrowded information superhighway, unplug from all the negativity going on in the world, and take the Road Less Traveled! Keep it REAL! My road name is “Tabasco”, and I approve this message! Tabasco.tro@gmail.com

BUCKEYE FIREARMS REPORT Armed Heroes in Teacher’s Clothing by Rob Morse
They don’t look like heroes, but they are. I spent several days with a group of Ohio teachers who want to protect their students. Most teachers feel the same way, but these extraordinary individuals did something about it. They took a training course. They learned to stop an armed attack in their schools. They learned to treat the injured. Rather than shelter in place and wait for the police and EMTs to save them, these teachers became the good guy with a gun and bandages. The training program is a success. The volunteer organization that trains teachers doesn’t have enough money to train everyone who wants instruction. These men and women do it for love and they need our help. “I’m a teacher. Parents trust me with their children’s lives. I can’t hide behind a locked door and let these kids die.”
Most of us would risk our lives to protect our own family. These teachers go the extra mile: they risk their lives for someone else’s children. They train now, on their own time, so they are ready to be an anonymous protector when they are needed. The training course I took was full of exactly the people we want to defend our children. They were school board members, police officers and janitors. I saw school administrators, teachers and staff from both public and private schools. Now they are the first responders when a murderous mad man tries to hurt our children.
“My kids used to go to the school where I teach today.” It costs the teachers time and money. Before they are accepted into the program, the teachers and staff usually get their concealed carry permits on their own. The teachers also buy their own firearms and holsters. The Faculty/Administrator Safety Training and Emergency Response program (FASTER) from Buckeye Firearms Foundation in Ohio pays for their advanced training. That advanced training is usually a prerequisite to carry a
loaded firearm on campus. Those are the least of the costs, because you can’t buy dedication like this. They do it for love. Only love would make you stand in the heat and the rain for a threeday firearms class when you could be home with your family. Only love would make you beat your hands up by working so hard. The bruises, blisters and bandages attest that these dedicated men and women have some their own blood and skin in the project. Only love could make them shake with emotion during a mock exercise in a high school. Their hands go where their heart leads. “Is this the day I have to use bare hands and improvised weapons to stop an armed murderer in my school?” We need these armed teachers. 24 percent of active shooter incidents are in schools. 60 percent of the active shooters die or are killed before police arrive. For bad reasons, we deny people at schools the right to protect the children entrusted to their care. Murderers don’t belong on campus, but we attract them to schools by making schools into so-called “gun free zones”. Fires don’t belong on campus, but we have fire extinguishers and fire drills. Cuts and bruises don’t belong on campus, but we keep first aid supplies at hand. Trained responders belong on campus so our children and teachers are protected and rescued when murderers attack them. It really is that simple.

BUCKEYE FIREARMS REPORT “Would you rather the murderer shoot students or engage a defender?” Emergency Medical Technicians taught the class about emergency trauma care. Adults can bleed-out from a treatable injury in seconds. We have a minute to restore breathing. Children have less. Seconds count, and the reality is that police and EMTs are many minutes away. The more time the killer has, the more people he will kill. Trained responders can stop the killing and save the injured. The sooner the attacker is stopped the more people are saved. Time is everything. “Paramedics didn’t treat the injured at the Sandy Hook Elementary School for 45 minutes. It took them over three hours to deliver aid after the Orlando nightclub murders.” FASTER training is world class. About 600 teachers and staff have already taken this training. Today, most Ohio counties have some armed volunteers in their schools. We’ve accumulated thousands of man-years of real world experience with armed staff so we know the program is safe and effective. That is where the program ran into a new problem. “FASTER isn’t about guns in schools. FASTER is about saving lives.” Dedicated volunteers run the FASTER program to train teachers. The Buckeye Firearms Foundation pays for the training classes. They pay for the ammunition in the basic classes. They pay for lodging away from home. They pay for the trauma kits that teachers take back to school. Today, the donations aren’t coming in fast enough to meet the demand for training. Isn’t that a good problem to have? For obvious reasons, the Buckeye Firearms Foundation is reluctant to take government funds. Their teacher training program needs help from each of us today. Buckeye Firearms Foundation is a non-profit organization. They need help from corporate, industry and civic sponsors. These teachers will save lives and we all want to do that. Here is our chance. Make a donation. “If not me, then who? If not now, then when?” For more information or to make a donation to the FASTER program, please visit: www.buckeyefirearmsfoundation.org

RECIPES
Serve 4 (or 2 hungry bikers) 2 cucumbers 2 tbsp Thai sweet chili sauce 1 tsp rice wine vinegar
Makes about 20 2 thick cucumbers 4 oz crumbled feta
1 tbsp soy sauce
3 tbsp plain yogurt
1 tsp sugar (more to taste)
2 tbsp real mayo (not miracle whip)
1 tsp ginger, minced
3 tbsp minced pimentos (or fresh red bell peppers)
½ tsp garlic, minced
2 stalks celery, finely minced
Optional additions:
2 tbsp sweet pickle relish
1 tbsp wasabi paste (or ½ tsp wasabi powder + 1 tsp water)
1 tbsp finely chopped dill
(optional)
1 tsp old bay seasoning
½ red onion or shallot
1 cup tiny precooked salad shrimp (peeled, no tails)
3-4 radish 1 medium carrot
Slice the cucumbers (and any other veggie you’re adding) as thinly as you can and place into a medium sized mixing bowl (I use a mandolin to get them REALLY thin, but a knife works just fine. I’ve also made cucumber ribbons with a potato peeler for a different look) • In a small bowl mix the remaining ingredients with a whisk or fork until WELL combines. • Pour the mixture over the cucumbers and cover • Place in the fridge to marinate and cool for at least an hour – serve Have a recipe that you’d like to share? Write it all down and send with a picture – to ThunderRoadsOhio@gmail.com
• Thinly slice the cucumbers lengthwise with a mandolin – I mean REALLY thin! (you can use a vegetable peeler if you do not have a mandolin). • Lay the cucumbers on paper towels to remove excess moisture. • In a bowl mix the feta, yogurt and mayo together until fairly smooth. • Add in the pimento (or bell peppers), celery, pickle relish, dill and old bay, stir very well. •
Gently fold in the shrimp and mix till well combine
• Take about 1- 1 ½ tsp of mixture at one end of a cucumber strip and roll the cucumber up and around the filling all the way to the other end of the strip and place s4eam side down on a serving plate. •
Chill covered for at least an hour before serving
Put RECIPE in the subject line. If we use it, we’ll send you copies of the magazines and a TRO T-Shirt – so include your address and t-shirt size as well! Thanks! -The Iron Cowboy

FUNNY STUFF BECAUSE EVERYONE NEEDS A GOOD LAUGH NOW AND THEN...
The Bridge A biker was riding along a California beach when suddenly the sky clouded above his head and in a booming voice the Lord said “Because you have TRIED to be faithful to me in all ways, I will grant you one wish.” The biker pulled over and said, “Build a bridge to Hawaii so I can ride over anytime I want.” The Lord said, “Your request is materialistic. Think of the enormous challenges for that kind of undertaking. The supports required to reach the bottom of the Pacific! The concrete and steel it would take! It will nearly exhaust several natural resources. I can do it, but it is hard for me to justify your desire for worldly things. Take a little more time and think of something that would honor and glorify me.” The biker thought about it for some time. Finally he said, “Lord, I wish that I could understand my wife. I want to know how she feels inside, what she’s thinking when she gives me the silent treatment, why she cries, what she means when she says nothing is wrong, and how I can make a woman truly happy!” The Lord replied, “You want two lanes or four on that bridge?”

You bought it A ten year old boy was walking down the street when a big man on a black motorcycle pulls up beside him and asks, “Hey kid, wanna go for a ride?” “ No!”, said the boy, and he kept walking. The motorcyclist pulls up to him again and says “Hey kid, I’ll give you $10 if you hop on the back.” “ No!”, said the boy and he proceeded down the street a little quicker. The motorcyclist pulls up to the boy again and says, “Ok kid, I’ll give you $20 and a BIG bag of candy if you hop on the back for a ride.” At this point, the boy turns around to him and screams angrily, “Look Dad, YOU bought the Honda, so YOU ride it!”
Mysterious Voice A man was walking in the street when he heard a voice. “Stop! Stand still! If you take one more step, a brick will fall down on your head and kill you.” The man stopped and a big brick fell right in front of him. The man was astonished. He went on, and after awhile he was going to cross the road. Once again the voice shouted: “Stop! Stand still! If you take one more step a car will run over you and you will die.” The man did as he was instructed, just as a car came careening around the corner, barely missing him. “Where are you?” the man asked. “Who are you?” “I am your guardian angel,” the voice answered. “Oh yeah?” the man asked. “And where the hell were you when I got married?”
40+ Years This biker lady has a heart attack and is taken to the hospital. While on the operating table, she had a near death experience. Seeing God, she asked, “Is my time up?” God said, “No, you have another 43 years, 2 months, and 8 days to live.” Upon recovery, the woman decided to stay in the hospital and have a facelift, liposuction, and tummy tuck. Since she had so much more time to live, new roads to ride, she figured she might as well look even nicer. After her last operation, she was released from the hospital. While riding her motorcycle home, she was run into by a delivery truck and killed. Arriving in front of God, she demanded, “I thought you said I had another 40+ years? How come you didn’t pull me out of the path of that freakin’ truck?” God replied, “I didn’t recognize you.”
