Far too many times I hear that people perceive our magazine to be focused on simply one type of motorcycle or one type of rider. In virtually every instance, I simply have to open the magazine and encourage them to browse through the pages. In most cases, these comments come from folks that have not read our magazine, never opened it up, or possibly never even seen one - going instead on impressions based upon other magazines entirely. Thunder Roads Ohio is about motorcycles and the love of riding. I’m not interested in splitting hairs over how many wheels or CC’s a bike has - or even where it’s made. I rode the same HarleyDavidsonTM Softail for close to 15 years without ever sitting on another bike. I love the way it rides and it feels like an extension of me when we are flying down the road. I can’t imagine ever selling it, but I’ve picked up a few more bikes over the last few years. These bikes come from the far corners of the earth: Germany, Asia, and yes - at least one or two more Harleys. My love of riding - and consequently that of our magazine is all about the ride and the experience. Over the years I’ve learned to appreciate the fact that this is a different experience for different people. Some love to cruise along at a comfortable page, others crave speed and push their bikes to the absolute limit. Both are riders and both crave the open road. I’ve also learned that my love of riding is as much about the brothers and sisters that I encounter in my travels then it is about the machines. There is a kindred spirit amongst true riders. A sense of freedom and a love of the open road that fuels us. If you get past the particulars of the bikes - you can find a similar set of traits and character amongst most riders. It’s what makes us hit the road or trails. I am proud to present this month’s magazine with a hillclimb bike on the cover, in recognition of our new partnership with the Dayton Motorcycle Club and the AMA Pro Hillclimbs. These are extreme bikes - ridden by men and women that are not afraid to push the limits of their riding ability. Even though I’ve never taken a stretchedout, nitrous fueled bike up the side of a hill - I can relate to their passion and respect their dedication. I’d encourage and challenge everyone to expand their riding focus and discover how many more options there really are. Not just in terms of what you ride - but where you go and how you ride. If you’ve never been to a Pro Hillclimb event, I’d invite you to join us at the Devil’s Staircase in Oregonia on Sunday, October 13th. (www.devilsstaircase.com) Or possibly head out to a motocross event, such as the Competition Riders of America events listed on page 76-77. Discover how much more there is to riding and motorsports. The competitive side of riding is an exciting world and much more entertaining then much of what we are being served up through the talking boxes.

Lastly, I’d like to encourage everyone to get involved or at least a member of a rider’s rights organizations such as the American Motorcyclist Association (www.americanmotorcyclist.com), the Motorcycle Riders Foundation (mrf.org) or ABATE of Ohio (abate.com). These organizations are advocates for motorcycle riders and work hard to ensure that our rights are represented. Even if you don’t have the time or resources to get actively involved, even just having a membership lends them your support and allows them to hear your voice. These days especially, it’s important that we all be heard. Otherwise, there’s no telling where we might end up. Sincerely, Derek Publisher Thunder Roads Ohio

The Iron Cowboy Planning for 2014 Events? Now’s the time to start - if you haven’t already! Even though there’s still plenty of time left to ride this season, it’s time for many to start thinking of their 2014 bike nights, rallies, and ride events. If you’re planning on approaching sponsors, especially bigger ones, now is the time to make those approaches. Many businesses, especially those with the money to help support riding events, plan things out way in advance. And that includes budgeting for sponsorship, marketing, and events. It is FAR easier for them to get things done when they have time to include it in their budget for 2014. While the actual budgets may not be due to the powersthat-be for months, now is the time to get in line and make certain that you’re on the list. By approaching in October / November - you are better able to make presentations without being under the gun or pressed for time. Much better for everyone involved. Another major consideration, that needs to be thought out well in advance, is the exact date of your event. Now is the time to announce your event and make certain that IT is the thing that others are planning around. If you’d like help with developing a marketing plan for your event or need assistance in other areas, please don’t hesitate to contact Iron Cowboy Productions, LLC. - our parent company. Event planning is what they do, and sometimes it’s helpful to just get a second opinion on something. Even if you’ve been doing it for years - a fresh set of eyes and new approach can sometimes help breath new life into an event or promotion. Email - smith.ironcowboy@gmail.com for more information.
Hosting a Bike Show as part of your 2014 Event? If not - why not? Thunder Roads Ohio teamed with a number of event organizers this past year in order to help present ride-in Bike Shows as part of their events. Some of these were not even traditional motorcycle events - but instead open minded community events looking to grow. The TRO Team can help make a Bike Show a turn-key event, organizing everything from sponsorship and registration to the actual judging. Obviously marketing and promotion is our specialty - and we can do it more cost effectively then anyone else out there. If you are hosting a bike night, car show, community festival, rally, or even a wine tasting (we’ve done it!) - let us 6
know if you’d like to discuss how a motorcycle show might help develop your exiting event. Or if you have a venue or space to host a bike show - we can easily start from scratch. Now is the time to begin planning for 2014 and our calendar is already filling up. Email us at ThunderRoadsOhio@gmail. com for more information.
The 500cc Harley While rumors have been circulating for some time, especially amongst H-D dealers trying to maintain aging Buell Blast fleets for training classes - it’s now official: HarleyDavidson will soon be releasing a 500cc motorcycle. H-D’s COO Matthew Levatich, speaking at the company’s 110-year anniversary celebration in Milwaukee, said the asyet-unnamed bike is “nimble, light weight, has a low seat height and supple throttle and braking. I’ve ridden it – it looks great, sounds great, it’s a Harley, and it’s priced right. “We want to get it out as soon as we can, but it’s got to be right. New engines are complicated, and we’ve got to get everything right from a durability, reliability and confidence perspective. On the other hand, chassis and other things are a lot more straightforward.” He also hinted that it would likely be built in India: “The American qualities of a Harley are very important to people,” said Levatich. “The literal ‘where does that shock absorber come from’ part of it is less significant, but it has to have the spirit and soul of America. We have Harley-Davidson factories in India and Brazil – can we leverage those facilities and expertise so it can get to the, for example, Indian consumer, faster? Since Harley-Davidson scrapped the Buell brand back in 2009 during the global financial crisis, H-D has been left with the Sportster as their apparent “entry level” bike. In reality, though, neither the 1200cc or 883cc engine models are really that lightweight - both being larger then most sportbikes. Many Harley-Dealerships were also left with challenges in regards to training programs that specified smaller displacement bikes as mandatory.
October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month and Rider Insurance is once again running it’s “Check Your Headlights” campaign to help raise awareness.
“Check Your Headlights!” with Rider Insurance Throughout the entire month of October, Rider will have “Check Your Headlights” t-shirts and magnets available for purchase online through Rider’s Facebook page, www. facebook.com/RiderInsuranceCo, website - www.rider.com, and online store - www.riderinsurance.storeenvy.com. Tired of Peanut Tanks? From our friends at Returnofthecaferacers.com, comes this crazy looking ride built down under by Oaky and JJ at Griffen Spares in Sydney, Australia. It’s a “slightly modified” BMW R80 looking to make a statement. “With so many of today’s builds being based on looks, rather than lean-angle, lap-time or long-distance touring; Chopper, Bobber and Café gas tanks are getting smaller and distances between refills are becoming ridiculous. We hatched a hazy plan to bring big tanks - back into bike builds.” We were already wrenching an ‘84, BMW R80 in the Griffin Motorcycles man-cave, so we decided to track down an original, Karl Heinrich, long-distance tank. We managed to locate one in Germany… it was twelve grand. So Oaky
called his mates from OldWheelz overseas and got them to start working on a hand-built, 45 litre gas tank, modelled on the original, German design. The bike wasn’t built just to make something that could go over 400km between refills, we also wanted to create something that looked great standing still, and handled likewise at high speeds.” One of the most time consuming aspects of the build was the handmade exhaust. Which runs up under the frame and past the gearbox, before splitting into left and right trumpets. It gives the bike a gorgeous growl at idle, and a banshee bark at high revs. The end result, is a truly unique bike that not only stops traffic; but one that can shoot past traffic, hoon around the hills all day, and get back home without even thinking about a re-fuel.”
A new 500cc Harley will fill an open need to fill a niche last held by the Buell Blast - an entry level, “smaller displacement” bike.

otorcycle Ohio, a part of the Ohio Department of Public Safety’s Office of Criminal Justice Services (OCJS) that is focused on rider safety through education, celebrated its 25th anniversary at the American Motorcyclist’s Association (AMA) Hall of Fame in Pickerington, OH, on Aug 3rd. Not dampened by unfavorable weather, AMA CEO Rob Dingman kicked off the festivities with remarks about the strong partnership that Motorcycle Ohio has fostered not only with the AMA, but also with every motorcycle rider in Ohio. Ohio Department of Public Safety Director John Born affirmed his and the department’s commitment to increasing educational opportunities for riders throughout the state. Rollin Kiser, the Motorcycle Ohio State Coordinator, discussed his desire to make the department’s Basic Rider Courses more widely available. In a statement prior to the event, OJCS Director Karhlton F. Moore commented on the success of the program by stating that “Motorcycle Ohio has accomplished so much since its inception, 8
and we are committed to many more years of working with our traffic safety partners on education, enforcement and engineering efforts to reduce motorcycle deaths and injuries.” On-site riding demonstrations by Motorcycle Ohio instructors, food vendors, family activities, and discounted entry to the Hall of Fame Museum made for a great celebration of safe riding initiatives in Ohio.

hunder Roads Ohio joined up with the Mogadore Summer Festival to introduce a new Bike Show as an addition to their long running event. In a relatively short time, Thunder Roads Rep Mike Craig and Derek worked hard to get the show off the ground for it’s first year. Riders came in from as far away as PA and Bowling Green for the fun show that had everything from fair rides to a pizza eating contest hosted by local celebrity “Little John”. The show was considered a great success and organizers are already working on next years. All classes were chosen by popular vote this year, but expanded categories and judged classes will be added in 2014.

Many of you haven’t attended this pilgrimage to the Black Hills and Badlands of South Dakota. You’ve heard about all the crazy things that go on in Sturgis. Yes, there’s some wild stuff to be found up there, but there is also miles of beautiful riding in the area. From riding the desert-like Badlands with its’ sharp buttes towering overhead to the gorgeous twists and turns in the Black Forest National Park to the Monuments of Mt. Rushmore and Crazy Horse, there’s plenty to do for a full week. In the town of Sturgis, vendors take over the buildings where local grocery and hardware stores stood one week prior. Main Street is closed down to only bike traffic. East of town a few miles, rallygoers find the comforts of home away from home at camping “mini” rallies such as Full Throttle Saloon, Buffalo Chip, Glencoe and Broken Spoke. Each of these locations feature camping, bars, bands, stages, contests, bike shows and entertainment of its’ own every day during the rally. On a grander scale, these are all much like the
“What a wild ride! Seven days of fun, excitement, work, play and amazement” is how I described this year’s Sturgis Rally to the Travel Channel camera crew. This year, the funds went to the Sturgis Motorcycle Museum to build a new museum facility to house all their memorabilia. It also contributed to Helping With Horsepower a foundation directed by Laura Klock of Klock Werks Custom Cycles. This program helps young women who are at risk or victims of abuse. Laura took a few moments to explain to me that she, “used riding and racing as a parenting tool for her own daughters”. She went on to explain that part of this program is dedicated to working directly with the young women in building a motorcycle and raising funds with ticket sales to a drawing for the bike. She says, “by repairing 24

His wife is Cris Simmons who is a motorcycle Hall of Famer herself. I greatly enjoyed meeting the like-minded free spirited women on this ride and riding alongside them.

Considering the size of the town, if you feel like doing other things while you are there, there is a place called All Stuff Flea and Trading Post at 146 N Marion Street...not far from the G&R.
all is a great time to ride….as you know! So why not take a trip to Waldo! Some of you know exactly what I’m talking about when I mention Waldo. And, if you are the ones that don’t…get ready because this is an experience! Where’s Waldo? Waldo is located north of Columbus. Take 23 N toward Delaware and left onto OH-229. It will take you approximately 50 minutes.
Waldo is a small village so you won’t have any trouble finding the G&R Tavern located at 103 N. Marion Street. The G&R is known for their famous fried bologna sandwiches….YUM! This isn’t just any bologna sandwich…this fried bologna is a ¾ inch thick slab of the finest bologna and it is their own special recipe. It is fried until it is golden brown and crisp! It is worth the trip and once you have visited the G&R, you will definitely make this stop a regular ride. Check their website for hours and keep in mind that they do not take credit cards!
as well.
After a stop in Waldo, you will never be heard saying…. Where’s Waldo! Even if the ride takes you to the G& R just for the bologna sandwiches…it is worth the ride!

elcome to the season of witches and goblins and pumpkins and jacko-lanterns. Yes..it is fall when the leaves slowly fall around us and crunch underneath our feet. When some trees turn completely red while the warm autumn sun makes others look so gold that they light up the trees around them. And when you hear things go zoom zoom in the night…that’s just someone out enjoying a ride in the beautiful and crisp fall air! This is a great time for an overnight camping trip when you pile the tent and sleeping bag on the bike and go! Or just find a new destination and go for the day. It’s a time when the leathers come out and the air on your face feels that you have been reborn. You may have those feelings throughout the year when you ride, but there is something magical about the crisp autumn air. We have had some fun fall excursions. Well...honestly, we have had fun excursions throughout the year. But I do like fall. And maybe it’s because we know that our riding days become numbered. At this time of the year, we need to get out and ride and ride and hope we don’t have a snowy winter! Speaking of fun excursions…I do have to give you all a little recap on the rodeo. As usual, it did not disappoint! The weather was hot but we had a blast! Ironically, the old girl started up like a champ! It was the RV that had problems and we almost had to forego our trip! But all is good. We made it there and then the generator went out! The four wheeler’s battery died! But the Shovel was the one thing that didn’t give us problems! Go figure! One of this year’s highlights for me was meeting and talking with Billy Tinney. He has been the photographer for Easy Rider for over 40 years. He told me that people had asked him if he worked for Thunder Roads! He knows who we are at TR! Very cool! And I always talk about the Lost Tribe Clubhouse and our annual visit there. The beer is cold and cheap, the guys are 38

welcoming and you can write you name on the wall. They give a lot back by purchasing coats for kids so make it a stop if you are there next year. It’s fun and you are helping them help their community! There was one little incident which I am embarrassed to tell. In front of our campsite, I jumped on the back of the bike and instead of holding on, which I know better, I was waving at our neighbors. Whoops! We started up the little grade, going about zero miles an hour and I slipped off the back! OUCH! It reminded me of being bucked by a horse. Without a sissy bar, I know better. Totally my fault and I am here to report that no injuries were sustained. I landed on a nice cushion of grass. Just another adventure! And, very embarrassing! The worst part of the rodeo is that you look forward to it all summer and it is always Labor Day weekend which is the end of summer. You kind of wish your summer away! But it is always an adventure and you meet such interesting people! And you see some interesting bikes as well. Unless you have been there, it is hard to describe. But know that it is fun and crazy and relaxing…did I say crazy? All at the same time! And as we leave each year, we talk about next year and really look forward to it all year long! So, get out there and enjoy the autumn air and enjoy some nice new places to ride. I plan on enjoying rides this fall and I will behave and try staying on the back of the bike!

LEGISLATIVE UPDATE OCTOBER 2013 This past month Rep. Doug Green held an interested party meeting on certification of road guards in Ohio. A conference call was set up. Due to working second shift, I planned on attending the meeting via conference call. I made the call and was joined on the line by our Executive Director, Ed Shetter, but was never joined with the meeting. I talked with Rep. Green’s office after the meeting. There were technical difficulties with the conference call on their end. They sent me notes from the meeting. According to the notes, the need for road guards was discussed. The reasons discussed were that without road guards, individuals could get separated from the group on unfamiliar roads and unsafely race to catch the rest of the group. They also decided not to limit certification for group rides for charitable events. They would like to include funerals, marathons, and parades. It was also decided that road guards would have no power to arrest people that disobeyed the wishes of road guards. The biggest concerns remain to be liability and safety. A repre-
sentative from the AMA was there and discussed the coverage they provide for group rides. This was one of original reasons for supporting this idea. We wanted to make the activity legal in order to be eligible for liability, through policies like the AMA policy. As far as safety, once again we have the same goal. Road guarding, or blocking, has existed for years. Making it legal will probably have little effect on the amount of this activity. Training people to do it safely can only have a positive effect on the overall safety of the highway. They also discussed the need to educate the public on road guarding. They discussed including it as part of driver education programs. I will report more when I hear more on this issue. Regards, Scott “Woody” Wood Government Relations Director ABATE of Ohio, Inc.
SAFETYUPDATESAFETYUPDATES SAFETYUPDATESSAFETYUPDATESAFETYUPDATES SAFETYUPDATES Hi Friends, As summer starts to end, our statistics for this year are still good but crashes seem to be on the rise. Here in Northwest Ohio it seems like we read of them several times a week. Crashes: 2013 – 1,410 2012 – 3,610 Fatalities: 2013 - 69 2012 – 132 Discuss in your meetings what you have seen motorcyclists do wrong and what they do right. Someone listening may adjust something and it will help them stay upright. I talked to a biker who is also a drag racer. He belongs to all the drag race organizations because he is required to in order to race. I asked him if he belonged to an SMRO (State Motorcycle Rights Organization) and he said NO. Why, because he doesn’t have to. After talking to me for a while, he did ask me for an application and I hope he sends it in. It’s too bad we don’t “have to” belong to ABATE or another SMRO to ride. Those of us who are already members understand how important belonging is in order to maintain the freedom we all love. We need to figure out how to communicate that to everyone else. When I came back from Vietnam and went on a poker run with my Dad, he said to bring money to join AMA because you can’t ride if you don’t belong. I know we can’t do that today because of all the various organizations and individuals putting on poker runs and benefit runs, but encourage bikers of all types to support their favorite rights organization. Every year I get together with my close friends and we go

on a Labor Day ride. This year, in support of Michigan ABATE defeating their mandatory helmet law, we rode up the thumb of Michigan, along Lake Huron. We had a nice, relaxing ride, saw lots of the Lake, found plenty of places to eat and drink, and even found a little tavern where Kay and Harley played shuffleboard. You don’t see many of those anymore. We look forward to exploring more of Michigan in the coming years. (Another example of what a right’s organization does for every biker.) This brings me to my safety tip for the month. Fall leaves on the road can be very slippery! This is especially true if there is any moisture in them. The most colorful roads can be the most dangerous. Also be careful in parking lots and driveways. If there are leaves on the pavement, try to avoid them. Make sure if you are going to be coming home after dark that you have the right gear. It can get very cold after the sun sets this time of year. Gloves to keep your hands warm will help keep you safer, allowing your fingers to have more flexibility. Keep your eyes moving and be aware of areas where deer cross the road. Passengers can help with this also. Please contact me if you have any requests for Awareness info. I will be happy to send it out. As always, if you can make time for me in your meetings, I will come and talk to your group. I also make time to talk to non-ABATE groups about motorcycle safety. See you at the Meeting of the Minds. The Winners If your check-in is drawn, Thunder Roads will post your card number both online and in the magazine. Riders will then have at least 45 days to “claim” their prizes. For state-wide prizes, winners will often have the opportunity to select from a number of prize options. For instance, a rider might have the option of winning a Biketoberfest Rally Package that includes accommodations and extras for attending the Fall Rally. If that rider isn’t able to take advantage of that prize - they might opt for a Premium Leather Jacket instead. • Riders are able to win multiple prizes - based upon the drawing of their check-in’s. • Some prize drawings are specific to only check-in’s for the particular month - while others prizes are drawn from check-in’s season long.
Thunder Roads Ohio is proud to announce that the BUCKEYE THUNDER RUN IS BACK! This is a state-wide, summer-long riding challenge hitting the coolest riding destinations and events across Ohio, presented by Ohio’s #1 Biker Mag - Thunder Roads Ohio! It’s a ride like no-other and features great prizes every month!
• ALL CHECK-IN’s remain in the system for end of the season prizes!
The Way it Works
• Riders are able to checkin once a week at a stop (Monday-Sunday), for a maximum of 4 check-in’s per month (not counting bonuses).
Each month Thunder Roads Ohio we will announce a list of Thunder Run Stops here in the magazine and online. These stops are selected based upon the recommendations of our readers and confirmed by our editors. Riders can then hit these locations and present their Rider Cards in order to register. Once a Rider has registered at the stop - their Card number is then entered into the drawing for that stop. Thunder Roads will then select rider checks-in’s randomly each month from across the state for special prizes and incentives.
BONUS Check-in’s! The 2013 Buckeye Thunder Run is supported by our sponsors, so we want to encourage everyone to support them in turn. For that reason, we will issue a BONUS CHECK-IN to riders spending $10 or more at the stop. The bonus criteria may be adjusted at some stops to accommodate riders or particulars of that stop. Specifics of each stop will be listed each month in Thunder Roads as part of the Stop Listing.
Prizes are developed by both Thunder Roads and our sponsors - allowing for some exciting options. They may include stays at exciting stops, riding gear or accessories, gift certificates, cash, and even the opportunity to win a motorcycle or two!
It’s really that simple!
The beauty and simplicity of this program is that anyone can win with any check-in, but your chances of winning are increased by the amount you ride! The dedicated rider trekking across the state has a greater chance of accumulating prizes - but the couple that can only get out a few days a month to ride can also win! Every checkin counts as an entry in the “drawing” - so if you hit 40 stops in a month, you have twice as many chances of winning as someone that only hits 20. The more you ride - the more opportunities you will have to win! That’s the whole idea - to encourage everyone to get out and ride!
1. Get your Ohio Ride Card. 2. Get the list of stops each month from your Thunder Roads Magazine, the website (ThunderRoadsOhio.com), or facebook. 3. Ride out to these stops and show them your card. 4. And then you win cool prizes, including cold hard CASH!
State and Stop Prizes
The first step will be for riders to register for their Thunder Roads Ohio Ride Cards. A number of select locations will serve as Registration Centers. Riders can easily register at these points – free of charge. They will then receive their Ride Cards.
Every month the TRO staff will randomly select winners from the check-ins. Some prizes will be specific to the particular stop and usually sponsored by that stop. For instance, a leather shop may award a custom leather vest to someone visiting their store during the month of June. That would be a prize specific to that stop and only riders checking in at that location would be eligible for that prize. Other prizes will be state wide, with everyone checking in at any location eligible to win! 44
ThunderRoadsOhio.com
PLEASE NOTE: You can still use your 2012 Ohio Ride Cards. All Ride Card registrations carry over. Some stops will also extra prizes for those with 2012 Ride Cards - for those “veteran riders”! Thunder Roads will also be registering riders for Ride Cards at specific Thunder Roads® Magazine OHIO

events throughout the year as we distribute magazines. Key events, such as Ohio Bike Week or Bike Nights will have special booth for Ride Card registrations. In most cases, we will be offering special incentives both for those registering for the cards and those checking in with their previously issued cards at these stops. Thunder Roads will also be working with charities and various nonprofit events to include them in the Run schedule as well. This will be an easy means of encouraging participation and attracting riders from outside the local communities. In many cases, we will have specific prize drawings for those at these events. The Ride Cards will allow participants to easily and safely check in at all stops. Some Thunder Roads Sponsors will also be offering discounts to readers that present the cards. Thunder Roads will be listing special discounts and offers in the magazine throughout the year as an added value to readers and means of encouraging our partners to offer these extra savings. PLEASE NOTE: Once you have received your OHIO RIDE CARD, you will not be asked to provide personal information or emails at any location for check-in. You simply enter your ride card number!
While the riding season may be riding down for many this year - keep a hold of those Ohio Ride Cards! We are about to introduce a NEW phase to the program, designed to build on the momentum we already have in place with THOUSANDS of riders all across the state. New incentives and benefits that Card Holders can take advantage of all year round.
One key aspect of the BTR is that we will be limiting the number of stops to a reasonable amount each month. We are NOT simply adding anyone willing to write a check. We will be considering stops recommended by our readers and editors, and we will only select those that offer a legitimate interest to riders – making them worth the ride to visit. We are not hosting the run as simply a means of supporting the magazine, but as a fun way to promote partners and cool destinations all across the state.
Also - your Ohio Ride Card carries over from year to year. So, you are already registered for next year’s ride contest as well. Like just about every aspect of TRO - we are learning more and more with every issue and every mile we ride, and we are constantly working on ways to improve. As mentioned, we will soon be introducing an exciting new aspect to the Card - but we are also planning new updates to the Ride Program as well. So, stay tuned - and HOLD ONTO YOUR CARDS!
This is not simply a “Chinese fire drill” or mad-dash across the state. This is a Ride program. It is meant to be a means for readers to discover new riding destinations and enjoy the ride there. In fact, we have designed the program to encourage folks to break out of their local routes and trek to the furthest corners of the state.

The ScArY LaRrY CeMeTeRy Run
A
s the summer temps become a thing of the past, fall creeps in, and for many riders, the ride season ends. Most riders start to remember the P.M.S. (Parked Motorcycle Syndrome) they experienced over their last Ohio winter.
It’s the fear of winter that cause some riders to park their bikes … Do not put them away too soon! Fall can be an awesome time of year to ride. Less bugs, the beautiful fall colors, and best of all it’s time for ‘The ScArY LaRrY CeMeTeRy Run’!!! This is not your average Motorcycle Poker Run … NO!!! For the past 8 years Scary Larry and his motley crew have ridden from one cemetery to another. At each stop Larry shares a spooky story with all the riders. And it doesn’t help knowing that there are people on the ride who look frightening themselves! Yes, Riders are encouraged to come in costume. Larry and his wife, Deb put on this run every year, not only to raise funds but also to raise awareness about Multiple Sclerosis (or MS) a chronic, often disabling disease where the immune system attacks the central nervous system. When I asked Larry’s wife Deb why they put so much work into this ride every year she said “We hold the Scary Larry Cemetery Ride each year in honor of our son-in-law who has MS. All the proceeds from the ride go to the NW Ohio MS Society.”

12th Annual Motorcycle Stampede Hudson Leather - Pioneer, Ohio Nicole Luttrell Thunder Roads Ohio Contributor
For many of us Labor Day means an extended weekend … Better yet … One more day to RIDE! The 12th Annual Motorcycle Stampede at Hudson Leather Outlet this past Labor Day weekend gave many of us a great excuse to put more miles on our bikes. There was everything from the standard 10% off (for anyone with the flyer) to live music, great food, and of course my favorite, a Motorcycle show judged by Hills Performance.
Bands played throughout the weekend and on Sunday attendees enjoyed listening to Straw Berry Hill while enjoying the best ribs around (thanks to the Black Sheep Motorcycle Club and Double H BBQ). Raffle tickets were available for the Michigan A.B.A.T.E. bike and the Children’s Lantern bike as well. Who can’t resist donating to these worthy causes, after all someone has to win right? And … Speaking of winning … There were some very worthy bikes entered in the motorcycle show with a wide variety of classes.

BIKE NIGHTS
MISSISSIPPI’S BURNINGS Hometown Heroes Escorted in Style
September 12, 2013 - On an early fall morning, bikers from near and far turned out to welcome our Hometown Heroes, the Men and Women serving our Country in the U.S. Army, an Ohio National Guard unit gone for a year and finally returning home. Home – a place that was an empty longing in their hearts for more than a year was now getting closer by the mile, by the minute. Coming home on large travel buses, their excitement passed from bus to bus, until they finally demanded to stop at the Golden Arches - a long missed American Tradition! Unbeknownst to the troops, a motorcycle escort had been organized to escort them from the Zanesville VFW Club on Moxahala Ave. to their final destination, at the McConnellsville High School. There were bikes everywhere, as far as you could see in every direction. An estimated 400-500 motorcycles were in attendance – not bad, considering there was only 24-48 hrs notice for the call to action. This part of Ohio’s biker population is always ready, often going above and beyond expectations. We staged up on Jewett Road, and row after row of motorcycles were winding everywhere. The Zanesville PD, Muskingum County, and State Troopers escorted the ride. The majority of the bikes led the escort, with a sizeable cadre running tail gunner. Folks were lined up and down S.R. 60 to cheer and applaud
60
our returning soldiers, many with cameras and video recorders, waving American Flags and Welcome Home Banners. Most every motorcycle had at least 1 flag on it, from the small to the full size snapping in the wind, and several POW/ MIA Flags After we parked and gathered toward the front where the buses pulled in, and the soldiers families were gathered, the cheering, clapping, crying and laughing – it’s beyond words. The outpouring of love, respect, honor, joy – watching Daddy’s meet their new baby, and the awe, the humbleness, the teary-eyed amazement and pride…WOW! While we were welcoming our hometown heroes home, THEY were THANKING US for the “breathtaking” and dedicated Escort that We provided Them. We shook hands &/or hugged as many as we could and said “WELCOME HOME” to each and every one. It was such a privilege to be a part of an event as old as America itself… with a bit of a modern twist, of course! For those of us who love our freedoms – thank a soldier or a vet – or both! Suzuki GS550 Race Cream Geoff Baldwin, returnofthecaferacers. com
The 1979 Suzuki GS550 was completely disassembled, repainted and restored. Matteucci modified the GS tank, adding in knee dents and lining them with the same tan leather he used for the bikes seat. The Suzuki’s rear loop was modified before the hand shaped tail end was formed around it making it a perfect fit to the frame. Clip on bars replaced the stock items and bar end, LED indicators keep the front end clean from clutter. Finally the Suzuki’s wheels were powder coated in matte black before being wrapped in controversial Firestone Champion Deluxe tires.

his Suzuki GS550 ‘Race Cream’ is the latest build by the Italian - Matteucci Garage, whose Moto Guzzi ‘Black Boot’ stirred up quite a response a couple of months ago. The ‘Race Cream’ demonstrates the same high level of finish and unique design details we saw on the ‘Black Boot’ and considering these are the only 2 bikes Matteucci has built to date, there are sure to be more great builds from this Italian workshop in the future.

“This time I wanted to create something more, a lot more detail and only one month to create it from scratch. Its tail has been designed and constructed from sheet metal and the modification of the tank includes inserts made of genuine leather. The instrumentation has been completely revised with the addition of a cylinder with LED indicators held by the original handlebar risers. Each piece was hand-built in my garage. I have not seen many Suzuki GS Cafe Racers before and I’m happy with the result”

Rusty’s Ride
Creating Christmas Smiles for Over 20 Years Linda Shearer, mother of Russell “Rusty” Shearer, in whose memory we present this great fundraiser every year, loves to talk about Rusty. Linda and her only other child Jim have attended every Rusty’s Ride since the beginning, and Jim Shearer still rides the restored Harley that his brother Rusty was riding when he died in a crash with a deer over 22 years ago. Rusty’s love of Harleys began early. He purchased his first one in high school and Linda tells of his joy when he learned that she had paid off the balance as his high school graduation gift. His first long trip on that Sportster was that summer after high school, followed by his mom and brother in a pickup truck as they headed west to a national park! Her memories of that trip and other trips with her sons, camping with Rusty’s bike outside their tent, are very touching and give a little more insight into this guy Rusty in whose name Xenia HOG’s biggest charity event is held.
Thanks go out to everyone that rode in or otherwise supported and helped with this year’s ride. Thanks to all of our generous biker friends, many many families will have a brighter Christmas this year. The date has already been set for next year’s ride, September 6, 2014. Hope to see everyone there! Photos by Possum, Thunder Roads Ohio

Rusty went to school in order to get certified as a Harley-Davidson mechanic, and his goal was to work at Buckminn’s H-D. He was hired soon after getting his certificate, waiting patiently for a mechanic’s position to open. His dream had come true, and he was a happy, upbeat employee very concerned about the image that the public had about bikers. His career and his life were then cut way too short. After the shock of losing such a bright star, John and Connie Smith, founders of Buckminn’s, began a simple toy run in 1992 to honor Rusty’s memory. It has grown to become one of the most popular Ohio poker runs, known for being well organized, safe and fun -- with great food and prizes! Attracting individual riders and groups from far away, Rusty’s Ride has raised more than $138,000 for the Holiday Project at Greene County Combined Health District. What better way to honor Rusty’s memory than to raise funds for Christmas presents for needy children, with the help of bikers. Linda Shearer is very proud and grateful that Buckminn’s D&D and the Xenia HOG Chapter continue to bring joy to children in her son’s name, saying, “Rusty loved Christmas and this is just what he would have wanted”.

he 2013 season has brought the new field of talent to a new level of competition in AMA Pro Hillclimb racing. With 8 rounds, there were many riders who would be battling for the race wins and the championship in each of the 3 classes. The Pro Sport Class brought new young riders, wanting to get a taste of the pro series. These 450cc motocross based bikes are the entry level class, modified with only an extended swingarm and paddle tire. Nicholas Bleau came out strong in the season, winning his first race and taking 5 podiums, with 3 wins and is currently holding the points lead. Josh Kobel got his first career win in round 5. But a street bike accident the day after his win has had him sitting a few rounds out to recover from his injuries. Nick Drummer also took a win this season. Devin Sweitzer has improved in 2013, with 3 podiums and has moved up to 2nd in points. Molly Carbon is currently sitting in 3rd in points, and got her first career podium in round 6.
and smell of a nitro bike is something the fans need experience at a race and not to be forgotten. The Xtreme Class has seen John Koester take the podium in 4 of the 6 rounds, with three wins. He is the current points leader. Jay Sallstrom and Alex Benner are the only other riders to take a win this season. Sallstrom is sitting in second in points with 4 podiums; and Phil Libhart posted his first podium of the season in round 6 to sit third in the points. Vincent Nuzzolilli and Jockamo Baldina round out the top 5 for the chase for the Championship. With only two more races left in the season, these riders will be looking to be on the podium and gain positions to try to take the Xtreme Class 2013 Title.
A number of riders in the Expert Classes, Xtreme and Unlimited, can go home with the win in each round. These classes feature several different styles of bikes, from four cylinder sport bike motors to the traditional Harley Davidson and Triumph motors of the historical days of hillclimbing. TECH TIPS: TIRE SAFETY
HOW OLD ARE YOUR TIRES?
How to Inspect Your Motorcycle Tires Start off with a visual inspection. Under well-lit conditions, look for any signs of punctures (such as nails or shards of glass) which might potentially lead to a loss of pressure or a blowout. Bulging or cracking might also occur on old tires; make sure you roll your bike forward in order to see all surface areas that come in contact with the road.
Check Your Tire Tread
Adequate tire tread not only ensures tire integrity, it allows water to be channeled away from the contact patch, which helps maintain grip under wet conditions. Using a quarter, ensure that when placed within the tread groove, there’s enough tire tread to extend past the top of Washington’s head. If it doesn’t, it’s probably time to replace your tire. Tip - Go with George, NOT Abe. From GoldWingDocs.com, TRO Contributor Tires age. As tires get older, they get more stiff and less resilient, more susceptible to cracking, and overall more brittle. Even if tires are not worn out, they should be replaced after six or seven years. “But I never have tires last six or seven years!” you may say. That may be - but what if the tires were three years old when you bought them “new”? Or when you bought that “new to you” motorcycle - how old were the tires on it? How can you tell? It’s a well-kept secret in the tire industry that a) tires are unsafe after six or seven years, and that b) tires that are sold new are not necessarily new - they may have sat on the shelf for years before being sold to you. They look new, they were sold “as new” - but they are not new. Fortunately, there is a very simple way to find out the actual age of the tire, starting from its manufacture. Stamped into the side of every tire is a date code, that indicates the actual date of manufacture. It looks something like this:
This can be approximated to the following - this is for the year 2010, and it will change slightly from year to year, but for the most part, this is how to convert the week number to the month: 01 06 10 15 19 23 28 32 36 41 45 49
-
05: 09: 14: 18: 22: 27: 31: 35: 40: 44: 48: 52:
January February March April May June July August September October November December
Some tires will have a longer string of digits, like “NA2M4206” - in this case, it’s the last four digits we are interested in, so this example would be the 42nd week of 2006.
In this case, it’s the number “4209”. In some cases, this will be prefixed with “DOT”, as in “DOT4209”. The first two numbers in the code is the week of manufacture - 52 weeks in 82
a year, remember. The last two are the year - in this case, the 09 represents 2009.
What if your tire only has three digits? Throw it away! Tires made before 2000 used only one digit for the year. So a tire with the code “015” was made in January of 1995...or 1985!

an inch). But now some experts advise a more conservative approach. Instead of Lincoln’s head on a penny, use George Washington’s head on a quarter. That’s about 4/32, or 1/8, of an inch. In track tests conducted by the tire Web site TireRack.com, using a quarter instead of a penny resulted in 24 percent shorter wet-road stopping distances. If you can see Washington’s wig, your tires are as close as you’ll want to get to being bald.
Check Your Tire Pressure Tire pressure is especially crucial on motorcycles, and handling and ride quality can change dramatically with small adjustments. Tires also wear more quickly when they’re not properly inflated, adding yet another reason to check tire pressure regularly. The best time to check tire pressure is before you start riding while the tires are cool; once the bike is in motion, tire temperatures warm up, which changes the density and pressure of the air inside. Always use your owner’s manual for recommended PSI levels. If you’re using non-standard tire sizes on your bike, go by the pressure figures printed on the sidewall. After checking tire pressure, inflate them using compressed air until they reach the recommended pressure. If they’re overinflated, simply bleed them by depressing the center of the Schrader valve until they are properly inflated. If you check tires after a few hours of riding, anything more than a 10% gain in pressure could indicate they’re working too hard. If that’s the case, you’ll want to lighten the load and/or slow down.
You may have heard about doing the “penny test” to see when it’s time to get new tires. Some experts want to toss that coin test in favor of the quarter. The penny test is simple. Hold a penny so that you can see Abraham Lincoln’s head. Now insert Lincoln’s portrait, scalp-side down, into a groove in your tire tread. If your can still see the top of his head, it’s time for new tires. That works because the distance between the edge of a penny and the top of Lincoln’s head is about 2/32 of an inch (in normal speech, that would be 1/16 of inch, but tire treads are measured in 32nds of This article and so much more can be found at goldwingdocs.com. Buckeye firearms report By Jim Irvine
Colorado sends a message to politicians: Vote against your constituents, and your constituents will vote against you. After very hard-fought, highly-contested recall races in Colorado, which saw hundreds of thousands of dollars from out of state, the votes are counted. Two anti-gun, antifreedom, anti-self-defense Democrats who voted to trample on individual rights and support a radical agenda being pushed by New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg have been voted out of office. The importance of these historic events will be felt for years to come, and it will affect all of us, no matter where you live. Senators Angela Giron (D-3) and John Morse (D-11) voted for a bill to limit magazine capacity to 15 rounds, and to require uniform background checks for gun sales. As sitting Senate President, Morse didn’t just vote for the bills, he championed their passage.
Bloomberg personally gave $350,000 to support his candidates in Colorado. Bloomberg lost. America won. Conventional wisdom is that recalls fail; that someone as powerful as the Senate President could not be brought down by a group of grassroots activists upset about one bill or one vote; that a county that voted for Obama by a 14 point spread (56-42) just last year would vote with the incumbent Democrat; that gun owners are some radical minority group that makes a lot of noise, but do not represent the masses; that the NRA’s power and influence are diminished after the Aurora movie theater and Sandy Hook killings. Conventional wisdom is wrong.
Some will look at Bloomberg’s money versus the NRA’s money, see nearly equal amounts, and think they simply offset each other. It is important to keep in mind that reported contributions to Morse and Giron totaled about $3 MISSION: Buckeye Firearms million, vastly exceeding the amount Association is a grassroots political raised by pro-gun rights activists who Ten years of Clinton’s so-called “assault action committee (PAC) dedicated petitioned for the recall. The two sides weapon” ban proved that limiting to defending and advancing the spent their money very differently. right of Ohio citizens to own and magazines to a ten round capacity Yes, money from both sides went to use firearms for all legal activities, was useless at preventing crime. political ads to get their points across, including self-defense, hunting, So there is no way any reasonable competition, and recreation. We but Bloomberg’s money buys people person could believe a 15 round limit work to elect pro-gun candidates to deliver his message. The NRA would have a desirable effect. And and lobby for pro-gun legislation. money helps the grassroots individuals while “universal background checks” deliver their message. Bloomberg is all is a great marketing phrase, it really Buckeyefirearms.org about Bloomberg. The NRA certainly means “universal gun registration” cares about its image, but at its heart (and confiscation, if the past is any is really a big grassroots, civil rights predictor of the future) – something that organization. That has proved a winning formula for decades. Americans, no matter their party affiliation, oppose.
BUCKEYE FIREARMS ASSOCIATION
Why would anyone vote for such terrible bills? Because they were being told to by an egocentric New York mayor who hates guns and the people who own them - a mayor who is extremely wealthy and lives to use his money to buy him influence, and who promises to give financial support to protect his sycophants’ elected positions. 84
to support our efforts. It was a true grassroots effort that may have been the key difference in Morse’s race, which was won with only 50.9% of the vote. Elections matter, and every vote counts. When Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker was targeted for a recall election, grassroots support rallied and he won that recall election by a greater margin than his election night win. But when two Senators voted against their constituents civil rights, they were tossed from office in a pair of historic recall elections. The common theme is that people in this country still care about individual liberty and freedom. The effects of the recall election will matter to all Americans. Had Bloomberg’s money won, we would be facing a barrage of similar attacks in other states. He would be touting his wins as proof that he would spend big money and defend those who help him push his big government control on the masses. And he would find those weak individuals willing to shun the NRA and their constituents for the promised fame and glory. But we won, and there are consequences for both sides. The next time you don’t read about an anti-gun bill being introduced or voted on, give thanks to those in Colorado who circulated recall petitions, or who signed them and brought about the recall election. By winning the fight in Colorado, there are many other fights that will not need to be fought. The best way to never lose a fight is to never need to fight one. Contrast that with Washington, where we are dealing with a very different set of circumstances. President Obama, who was only elected because too many gun owners voted for him, continues to fight against your right to keep and bear arms. Many battles must be fought and won because we lost an election last November, and those consequences will continue to hurt all gun owners. We salute our freedom fighting brothers and sisters in Colorado and elsewhere who stood up to big government, to anti-gun lies, to big city money and turned out the people to vote to retake their government. Their wins will shape the gun debate in other states and in D.C. for years to come, and we are proud to have been able to support their efforts.
Buckeye Firearms Association spent over $7,000 to send three people to Colorado last week. They knocked on doors and visited gun stores. They attended political rallies and helped encourage others to get involved in the fight. Other people volunteered to make phone calls to help get the vote out in support of the recall effort, while many others donated money

THE POWER OF
R
UNITY
ecently there was a tremendous movement of American Patriotism. The 2 Million Bikers to DC was a show of unity among many walks of life that “We the People” still want to be heard. Now whether there were actually 2 Million Bikers in attendance isn’t really the point is it? The point is that I think the citizens of the United States of American are beyond sick of the system that simply doesn’t work anymore. It is my opinion that the structure of the U.S. Government is beyond broken. It’s so far off the beat and path from the initial intentions our forefather’s is hardly even recognizable. Infiltrated by special interest groups basically buying the votes of our representatives is only the scratch of the surface of the issues. I am proud that if nothing else that a community of like minded people, the backbone of this country decided to rally in opposition of our Government, This is a big deal folks. These condescending politicians in Washington, as well as our own home towns need to understand that they were given the privilege of their career only by the grace of you and me. They are not employed to represent the interest of foreign countries, oil money or otherwise. They exist to ensure you and I live in a prosperous and safe country and protect our way of life. I am baffled though how we allowed these Representatives to enjoy a job they campaigned for to serve the people, yet somehow exclude themselves from many of the same requirements that burden you and I. Free lifetime healthcare, lifetime annual salary, and many other perks that they consider and entitlement. A military family barely receives middle class income and support while the politicians enjoy a life of luxury. I understand if someone is fulfilling a job including that of a politician they need income and healthcare, and I’m not saying I want any $15 an hour employee deciding if we’re going to bomb another country. I believe they should be rightfully compensated if they are doing their job as any leader in a high profile corporate America position should. But why are there no limits? Should we really have to organize 2 million people to march on our capital to demand some semblance of common sense? Look I really don’t care which side of the 86
we will be heard! I fear for strange times ahead for our children and grandchildren.
isle you voted on, or who you voted for in the past elections, I’m more concerned that it really doesn’t even seem to matter. There simply seems to be no integrity in Politics anymore. The news media is the worst purveyors of the BS coming out of Washington. They cover only what is in their interest, and most often what is reported as news is only based on a thread of actual truth. There was barely any coverage of the American People gathering to let Washington know loud and clear that

The motorcycle community rose to the challenge and I am proud of that. There was unity in for that day there were no borders by the nation’s largest MCs. There was no internal politics. It was simply We Are Americans unified for a single cause. That is awesome. I find it odd that many members of law enforcement lose sight of the fact that they are affected by the same issues faced by everyone living in this country, yet that stand and try to prevent the people’s right to peacefully assemble. What planet do these people live on? It’s certainly not all members, but many. We see on the world news giant assemblies of citizens of foreign countries marching in opposition of tyranny, yet most of America is asleep at the wheel. It’s really sad. I hope you aren’t one of those people. But what can one person, one club or organization really do? Well you can unify your efforts with others who believe the same and participate in holding your Politicians and your Government accountable. Thanks for Reading, and God Bless the U.S.! he Easyriders Chillicothe Rodeo is something of an institution to many bikers. A celebration of the BIKER lifestyle - it’s a throwback event that is more a celebration of personal freedoms and old school craziness then necessarily riding. There’s the Bike Show, Rodeo Games, and Drags - but “Chillicothe” is more known for the party in the campground then anything... Thunder Roads Tennessee i have chosen this name for our monthly recipe page, as that was what my mother, rest her soul, always used to say when I would assist her in the kitchen. mom was an avid supporter of the kiss (keep it simple sweetie) method of cooking. i now, more than ever, truely appreciate her philosophy of always taking shortcuts where you can, as long as your ultimate outcome is that of down home, labor of love cooking.
GHOULISHLY GOOD LASAGNA ROLL-UPS
1 Lb. of Ground Chuck 12 Cooked “al dente” Lasagna Noodles 4 Cloves of Garlic; minced 1 Tbls. of Parsley, Basil, Oregano & Italian Seasoning all mixed in a small bowl 1 Pinch of Nutmeg added to the above spices 1 Jar of your favorite Spaghetti Sauce 1 Pkg. (1 Lb.) of of Kraft Shredded Italian Five Cheese which has a touch of Philly Cream Cheese included 1 Can of Oregano & Basil Diced Tomatoes; drained 2 Large Eggs 1 Tub of Philadelphia Italian Herb Cooking Creme (in the butter refrigerated isle) 1 Cup of Grated Parmesan Cheese; divided Couple dashes of Worchesteshire sauce Preheat oven to 350 degrees Spray some butter spray in a large skillet and put in your room temperature ground beef. Break it up with a potato masher and also a wooden spoon. Kinda’ push it down a bit and even it out and then just let it brown really good before flipping over to do the same on other side. There’s so much flavor in meat when you get it nice and seared really brown. In another medium sized bowl, mix up your spaghetti sauce, tomatoes, and 1/2 of Parmesan cheese. Set aside and in another bowl mix up the scrambled eggs, cooking creme, shredded cheese (half the bag) and your spices mixture. In a 13x9 baking dish sprayed down with cooking spray, place a thin layer of the meat mixture down as a bed for the rolled noodles. Take each noodle and spread apprx. 3 Tbls. per noodle with cheese mixture; going the full length of the noodle. Gently roll up and place seam sides down in your bed of sauce. Top noodles generously with remaining sauce and 1/2 cup of Parmesan cheese for 45 minutes. Remove from oven, cover the entire dish with the remaining 8 ozs. of shredded cheese and place back in oven until brown and bubbly. Serve with hot, crusty, Italian bread and parsley butter. Ghosts don’t count calories so eat up & enjoy! I adore spicey & sweet so this pie really hits me on all cylinders. 106
THE HEADLESS HORSEMAN’S BACON & BOURBON APPLE PIE
1/2 Cup of Packed Brown Sugar 1 tsp. Ground Cinnamon 3/4 Cup Flour; divided 1/2 Stick Cold Butter; divided 10 Slices of Hickory Smoked Bacon cooked crisp but not burned 1 Pre-Made Pie Crust 6 Cups of Golden Delicious Apples; cored, peeled & sliced (6 cups = 6 large apples) Invest in an apple corer; they’re inexpensive and very useful. 3/4 Cup of Granulated Sugar or Splenda 2 Tbls. of Bourbon or a splash more 1 tsp. of pure Vanilla Preheat oven to 400 degrees Mix brown sugar, cinnamon and 1/2 cup of the flour in medium bowl. If you have a pastry cutter, cut half the butter into mix. If not, just use two butter knives and criss-cross cutting the butter into the mixture until resembles coarse crumbs. Stir in rough chopped bacon. Place crust in 9 inch pie plate. Put apples in large bowl and add granulated sugar or baking Splenda, remaining flour, bourbon and vanilla; mix lightly but thoroughly. Spoon into crust. Take remaining butter and cut into small dabs and place all around the pie; the more the better. Let’s face it, if you’re going to eat a decadent dessert, why worry about the damn butter? Am I right? Cover with crumb topping and place on baking sheet and bake for 30 minutes. Reduce oven down to 350 and bake another 30 minutes. Cool slightly but still toasty warm with homemade brand of your favorite vanilla ice-cream. This is without a doubt such an easy recipe and it will make you slap somebody upside the head it’s that dang good. Ichabod Crane actually put his head back on just so he could eat this dang pie! WooHoo!! * You can substitute for other brands of apples but the Golden Delicious holds up well in cooking as does the Granny Smith, but they tend to be a tad tart so might need extra sugar. Could also serve with homemade whipped cream, but not that tub stuff. If you don’t make your own, use the quality extra creamy spray can kind.

A guy is sitting at home when he hears a knock at the door. He opens the door and sees a snail on the porch. He picks up the snail and throws it as far as he can. A guy tells his psychiatrist: ‘It was terrible. I was away on business, and I emailed my wife that I’d be back a day early. I rushed home from the airport and found her in bed with my best friend. I don’t get it. How could she do this to me?” “Well,” says the psychiatrist. “Maybe she didn’t see the email.”
A man goes to a psychiatrist and says, “Doc, my brother’s crazy, he thinks he’s a chicken.” The doctor says, “Why don’t you turn him in?” The guy says, “We would. But we need the eggs.” _______________________________________________________

A woman whose husband often came home drunk decided to cure him of the habit. One Halloween night, she put on a devil suit and hid behind a tree to intercept him on the way home. When her husband came by, she jumped out and stood before him with her red horns, long tail, and pitchfork. “Who are you?” he asked. “I’m the Devil,” she responded. “Well, come on home with me,” he said, “I married your sister.”
