2009 BUSINESS SHOWCASE

DAVID SCHAFFERT Thurston County Chamber of Commerce Chamber President/CEO

Welcome to the Business Showcase & Procurement Expo 2013: Connecting Businesses to Local Government Dear Showcase Exhibitors & Vendors, Welcome to Business Showcase & Procurement Expo 2013. For over 20 years, business owners have flocked to the Business Showcase to network, display products and meet new clients. Their energy, creativity and investment has created the largest business expo in the South Sound. This year we are pleased to include a new element to this event, Purchasers’ Row -- an opportunity for buyers at government agencies and larger businesses to connect with local businesses. We have two events today which we hope continue the Chamber tradition of providing quality training as well as opportunities for meaningful relationship building. The first, our morning workshop, Best Practices in Developing Public Works Bid Documents

and RFPs/RFQs, will address a number of important questions relating to public procurement and contracting, outlining best practices for developing and managing solicitation documents. The presenter, Mike Purdy, has more than 33 years of experience in public procurement and contracting. The second event, Chamber Forum, SCJ Alliance, Forma Construction and the Creative Oce will collectively present their expertise at selling to local government, will share ways to overcome challenges, and by the end of Forum you will be able to map out your plan of selling to local government! I hope you make the most of today’s event by attending Forum, visiting all the exhibitors, participating in Speed Sell and exchanging business cards with those you meet.
