LINK-K The aging and suburban environments are explored through the means of expert discussions, site visitation, readings, and exploration in this project. Upon completion of research, 3 issues have been addressed. Through this project, I created solutions for these issues through design. With a growing percentage of elders, I plan to programmatically design a holistic residential house to meet multiple, complex needs of elders to assist with the inevitable process of aging and slow down/ eliminate the avoidable process of aging by: Healing through the environment, providing comfort for those who are in the final phase of life, using technology as a tool to assist in the prevention of aging.

GENERATION C CO-HOUSING COMMUNITY: noun, an intentional community of private homes cluttered around a shared space; each attached or single family homes has traditional amenities including a private kitchen; shared spaces feature a common house, including a kitchen and dining area, laundry and recreational spaces” BENEFITS: Express social and practical advantages of a closely-knit community social interaction causes relationships to develop Cultivates nature of sharing and caring for one another. Generation C is a new generation that strives to promote the most innovative forms o multi-generational interaction. C comes from the term “community,” where people of different generations or families can interact together as one. The new development hopes to compliment its existing surrounding of Boys Town, Nebraska in addition to add various vertically oriented mixed use settings that will benefit the future users. Along with residential areas, the mixed use settings will include commercial shopping districts, office parks and civic buildings to provoke a higher density in the area. A new green network of trails and differing outdoor program will offer healthy and community-focused interaction for the future residents. Generation C will help enhance one’s understanding of another and overall cultivate a sense of community.
