História de Manaus

ocalizada à margem esquerda do rio Negro, Manaus tem sua origem em 1669, quando foi criado o Forte São José do Rio Negro para combater e explorar a região, a fim de garantir o domínio português e guarnecer a região de possíveis investidas dos inimigos. Erguida à base de pedra e barro, sem fosso e quadrangular, a construção foi denominada Forte de São José da Barra do Rio Negro. Durante 114 anos, o forte manteve suas atividades de defesa da região. O Arraial, fundado em 1669, passou a ser o Lugar da Barra e tornou-se sede da Capitania de São José do Rio Negro, em 1758. Em 1833, foi elevado à Categoria de Vila com o nome de Manaós. O nome foi dado em homenagem à tribo indígena da mesma denominação que se recusava a ser dominada pelos portugueses e negava ser mão de obra escrava para militares e religiosos. Foi no dia 24 de outubro de 1848 que recebeu o título de cidade. O local era apenas um pequeno aglomerado urbano, com 3 mil habitantes, uma praça, 16 ruas e cerca de 250 casas.

A capital do Amazonas teve seu apogeu quando os estrangeiros descobriram seu látex. Essa era é chamada de ‘Período Áureo da Borracha’. Manaus foi a cidade mais rica do País, apoiada na revolução financeira e econômica proporcionada pela borracha. A ‘metrópole da borracha’ teve início em 1900. A riqueza do látex proporcionou uma reviravolta estrutural, com a implantação de serviço de transporte coletivo de bondes elétricos, sistema de telefonia, eletricidade e água encanada, além de um porto flutuante, que passou a receber navios de diversas bandeiras e tamanhos. Após o período da borracha, a capital amazonense ganhou a Zona Franca de Manaus. A cidade ganhou um comércio de importados e depois um pólo industrial onde se concentram centenas de fábricas. Com a ZFM a capital voltou a experimentar um súbito crescimento demográfico: a população passa de 200 mil habitantes na década de 60, para 900 mil nos anos 80 e, finalmente, 1,5 milhão em 2002. Atualmente, tem cerca de 1,8 milhão de habitantes.

TEATRO AMAZONAS

O Teatro Amazonas foi inaugurado em 1896 e era frequentado por barões que assistiam à concorridos espetáculos de companhias europeias. Um passeio pelo seu interior revela luxo e riqueza presentes em sua decoração. Os lustres e máscaras venezianas estão por toda parte. Uma casa de ópera no meio da floresta. Assim é denominado o tão famoso Teatro Amazonas, em Manaus. Localizado no Largo de São Sebastião, em pleno Centro da capital, o Teatro Amazonas foi inaugurado em 1986 e é a maior expressão da riqueza amazonense durante o Ciclo da Borracha. Sua história começa muito antes, quando, em 1881, o deputado A. J. Fernandes Júnior apresentou o projeto para a construção de um teatro em alvenaria, em Manaus. A proposta foi aprovada pela Assembleia Provincial do Amazonas e Manaus vivia o auge do Ciclo da Borracha, sendo uma das cidades mais prósperas do mundo. Com a necessidade de ter um lugar para que as companhias de espetáculos estrangeiras se apresentassem, a ideia de construir o Teatro Amazonas veio bem a calhar. Com projeto arquitetônico de autoria do Gabinete Português de Engenharia e Arquitetura de Lisboa, o Teatro Amazonas teve sua pedra fundamental lançada em 1884. De forma lenta a nova casa de óperas da Amazônia foi tomando forma. No apogeu do Ciclo da Borracha, o então governador Eduardo Ribeiro inaugurou o Teatro, em 31 de dezembro de 1896. A decoração interna foi conduzida por Crispim do Amaral. A área mais luxuosa do prédio, o Salão Nobre, ficou a cargo do artista italiano Domenico de Angelis. A sala de espetáculos tem capacidade de 701 pessoas, distribuídas 10

entre plateia e três andares de camarote. No Salão Nobre, com características barrocas, destaca-se a pintura do teto, denominada “A Glorificação das Bellas Artes na Amazônia”, de 1899, de autoria de Domenico de Angelis. Destacam-se os ornamentos sobre as colunas do pavimento térreo, com máscaras em homenagem a dramaturgos e compositores clássicos famosos, tais como Ésquilo, Aristófanes, Moliére, Rossini, Mozart, Verdi e outros. No teto, figuram quatro telas pintadas, em Paris, pela Casa Carpezot, uma homenagem o grande compositor brasileiro Carlos Gomes. A Cúpula do Teatro Amazonas é composta de 36 mil peças de escamas em cerâmica esmaltada e telhas vitrificadas, vindas da Alsácia. Foi adquirida na Casa Koch Frères, em Paris. A pintura ornamental é da autoria de Lourenço Machado. O colorido original, em verde, azul e amarelo é uma analogia à exuberância da bandeira brasileira. O Teatro Amazonas foi tombado como patrimônio histórico em 28 de novembro de 1966 e retomou seu apogeu com a realização do Festival Amazonas de Ópera, além de vários outros festivais. O Governo do Estado promove visitas guiadas a turistas e teatralizadas para turistas e comunidades, com personagens de época contando fatos importantes de sua história.

PALÁCIO RIO NEGRO CENTRO CULTURAL O Palácio Rio Negro, situado na Avenida 7 de Setembro, foi construído no finail do séc. XIX, conhecido originalmente como Palacete Scholtz, residência de um famoso comerciante alemão. Em 1918 foi adquirido pelo Estado convertendose na residência do Governador. Foi declarado Patrimônio Estadual no ano de 1980 e no ano de 1995 reconverteu-se no Centro Cultural Palácio Rio Negro, onde se realizam importantes manifestações e atos culturais.

RIO NEGRO PALACE CULTURAL CENTER The Rio Negro Palace, situated on 7th September Avenue, was built at the end of the century. XIX, originally known as Chateau Scholtz, home of a famous German merchant. In 1918 it was acquired by the State becoming the Governorâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s residence. State Heritage was declared in 1980 and in 1995 was retrofitted in the Rio Negro Palace Cultural Center, where hosts important cultural events and acts.

PARQUE MUNICIPAL JEFFERSON PÉRES O parque que leva o nome de um dos maiores políticos que o Amazonas já teve foi uma das obras entregues pelo Prosamim. O local foi construído em área de antiga invasão de palafitas que interferiam nos igarapés de Manaus e do Bittencourt. Este belo parque abriga o Chafariz das Quimeras, um orquidário e outras atrações. A arquitetura é inspirada na Belle Époque. O parque tem a principal exposição de espécies da flora amazônica. Entre os atrativos estão gazebos, pórtico pergolado, lanchonete, pista para caminhada, parque infantil, espelhos d’água, dentre outras. JEFFERSON PERES MUNICIPAL PARK The park wich bears the name from one of the greatest politicians that Amazon had already been handed over by one of the works Prosamim. The place was built in the area of former invasion of stilt houses that interfered in streams of Manaus and Bittencourt. This beautiful park is home to the Fountain of Chimeras, an orchidarium and other attractions. The architecture is inspired by the Belle Epoque. The park has a major exhibition of Amazonian species of flora. Among the attractions are gazebos, pergola porch, snack bar, trails for walks, playground, water mirrors, among others.

O Encontro das Águas é um fenômeno natural que se produz na confluência das águas dos rios Negro e Solimões, a 10 km de Manaus, que durante seis quilômetros, até a Ilha de Terra Nova, não se mistura devido a diferente temperatura, densidade e velocidade que correm. É uma das atrações turísticas mais espetaculares de todo o município, muito apreciada pelos turistas.

O Museu Amazônico encontra-se situado no centro da Cidade na Rua Ramos Ferreira. Foi inaugurado em 1991 e no seu interior estão expostos documentos, fotografias relacionadas com a história da Região Amazônica, recompiladas pelo famoso cineasta e fotógrafo português Silvino Santos.

O nome é proveniente do fato de ter sido sede do governo da Província do Amazonas e de residência de seus presidentes. Sua construção foi iniciada pelo comerciante português Alexandre Paulo de Brito Amorim para servir de residência a sua família.

A exposição acontece no primeiro semestre no Shopping Ponta Negra. O Aeroporto Internacional Eduardo Gomes está localizado na região do Tarumã, a 14 quilômetros do Centro de Manaus. A quem chega a Manaus, o Aeroporto oferece duas opções a quem quer chegar ao Shopping Ponta Negra. A primeira, mais rápida e charmosa, é a que percorre a avenida do Turismo e chega à Ponta Negra. Da Ponta Negra ao centro de compras o trajeto demora cerca de cinco minutos de carro. A segunda e mais complexa é que utiliza a avenida Torquato Tapajós, passando pela Arena da Amazônia, na avenida Constantino Nery, depois pela avenida Pedro Teixeira e, finalmente, chega à avenida Cel. Teixeira, via que dá acesso ao Centro de Compras.
