An overview of the most interesting players in Brno’s food and drink scene – third edition. Twenty-one people or associations, influential figures in Brno’s public or cultural life, and professionals in the food and drink sector. Twenty-one different tastes. Where do they go for something delicious? What do they enjoy? Where’s the best spot for a beer, coffee, or some other liquid refreshment? And what are they proudest of on the local food and drink scene? Lovers of the city have told us about their favourite establishments. Those places named multiple times were included in a final selection to be evaluated by an independent panel.
Czech and Slovak food and drink professionals – chefs, pastry-chefs, and wine-makers as well as food journalists, bloggers, and gourmets – accepted our invitation to come to Brno and help us judge this select band of nominated establishments. Seven categories RESTAURANTS, BISTROS, CAFÉS, PATISSERIES, WINE BARS, PUBS, and COCKTAIL BARS – with an evaluating committee (casting three votes). Their evaluations. Twenty-one points of view. The speciality of the restaurant is of course coq au vin (the Czech translation of which is the name of the place), but the exact preparation of the meal changes, reflecting the mood and ideas of the current cooking team. La Bouchée tickles your nostrils with the aromas of French home cooking from local ingredients — well-aged beef, organic lamb and freerange poultry from Brno’s Mikrofarma. From summer 2018 the restaurant on Údolní will be given over to corporate and private functions. On St. James’ Square, however, the same team is opening a new concept: "La Bouchée Gril" (Běhounská 18, Mon–Sun 8.00–24.00).
