WELCOME TO THE FAIR!

Welcome to the 39th annual Franklin-Southampton County Fair. I would like to take this opportunity on behalf of the fair board to say THANK YOU for showing your support for the Franklin-Southampton County Fair by coming out to the fair grounds for four fantastic days of food, fun and fellowship.

We have had overwhelming support this year from the business community and we would like to give a very big THANK YOU to each of them. The board of directors and all of our volunteers have been busy these last few months putting on the final touches to the fair grounds and buildings to make this year the best year possible.

We have a great lineup of entertainment as always from local groups to national recording artists. We are excited about our new mid-way this year that is sure to bring thrills and chills! There will, of course, be the family favorite of our “little” Miss and our Queen’s contests.

There will be food and fun for everyone.

So bring your family, bring your friends and bring your chairs to the Southampton County Fairgrounds Aug. 7 through Aug. 10 for the best outdoor party of the year! See ya at the Fair!

Dear friends, neighbors and guests,

As natives of Southampton County, we are proud of its natural beauty, its rich agricultural heritage and, most of all, its friendly and hospitable people. For more than 35 years now, we’ve taken a few days each August and set aside the rigors and demands of day-to-day affairs to celebrate those things which are most important to us.

This annual celebration, the Franklin-Southampton County Fair, has grown and evolved from modest beginnings into a premier event attracting thou sands of residents and visitors each August. It is a celebration of what is good about living in rural and small-town America. Much like a breath of fresh air, it will remind you of a simpler time.

Who can forget the proud smile of a youngster whose 4-H project has just been awarded a blue ribbon? Or dozens of giggling children chasing after a greased pig? Or our beautiful and tal ented young ladies competing for the title of Miss Franklin-Southampton County Fair?

Where else do we have an opportunity to pause and reflect upon the marvelous bounty of our soils and the creative skills of our artisans and craftsmen? Or relax in our favorite lawn chair and listen to some of the finest musical entertainment in the country? Or simply spend quality time with one another — our families, our neighbors and our friends?

Come. Leave your worries at the gate and step back in time. Remind yourself of what a won derful place the Franklin-Southampton County region is.
