The way they’d dealt with Jocko in Mustique had been unusually extreme. Several members of the group had been against it, as light a punishment as it was. A broken arm. No big deal. Neither Grady nor any of his bunch were killers. Not even Martin. And Isha, what a shame it would be to waste such a fi ne biological example of womanhood. Grady had to laugh at his sexist lapse, staring at himself in the restroom mirror. Although he could sense how tough she was. He wouldn’t put terminal solutions past her if her back was against the wall. Trouble, he thought. Trouble.
Back at the table, Grady remained standing.
“I lied,” he said. “I don’t have time for dinner, certainly not with some self-styled opportunist who accuses me of moving contraband around on race boats. Sorry. No business to be done here. The check is covered.”
Grady beamed Isha his best smile, turned and left the restaurant.
Isha had smiled back, then watched Grady walk away with his smoothly balanced sailor’s gait. She stopped a waitress and ordered a lobster.
