BOE Watercolor • 12”x 16” • 2014 For “Boe” I wanted to utilize watercolor’s intrinsic qualities to create movement within the piece, simulating fur. For this painting, I won first place in the Watercolor Painting section during the Student Art Show at Pacific Union College (PUC).

DEADLY SINS Watercolor • 12”x 16”• 2014 During my watercolor class, we were tasked with designing a triptych, with the theme being the seven deadly sins. While researching the seven deadly sins, I came across the animals they were associated with as well as their levels of hell. It struck me as bizarre that such extreme punishments were supposedly exacted (according to Dante’s Divine Comedy) while generally harmless animals represented the sins. I wanted to portray this dichotomy in my piece.

BEAUTY Oil Paint • 40cm x 30cm • 2014 This painting was created in Florence, Italy during my summer abroad. I was inspired by the art around me as well as the requirements for the final project, this painting. The theme was beauty. I wanted to encapsulate my idea of beauty, namely that it can be described through science to a degree but ultimately is something that evokes a feeling that cannot truly be broken down into chemical reactions on a whiteboard.

PUC YEARBOOK Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Lightroom • 9”x 11.75” • 2015 During the 2014-2015 year, I was the editor for Pacific Union College’s yearbook. I hired staff, directed the design, and took much of the event photography. From the beginning, I wanted to create a book that would capture the important events from the year in the best way possible. My solution to this, was to ensure only quality photos made it into the book, allowing them to be the highlight of each page. I kept text to a minimum and ensured that there was an adequate mix of white space amongst the photography.

OLYMPIC PROTOTYPE Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign • 9”x 12” • 2017 For this project, we were required to pick a city we thought could host a future winter Olympics. I wanted to create a set of designs that matched the modern city of Frankfurt, Germany. This included bright greens and blues as well as curved shapes. The designs included a booklet, signs and a logo.

ICONTEC Adobe Illustrator and InDesign • 2014 During a branding class, I did a logo redesign as if for a tech company specializing in fiber optic cables and Wi-Fi connections. This was followed by brochure and product list designs. I wanted the company to feel reliable, yet still in touch with modern technology. So, I opted to utilize blue as the predominant color, to help create a stable feeling.

EUGENE LIBRARY REDESIGN Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign • 9.25”x 11” • 2017 This project involved evaluating current systems in my local library and brainstorming ways to improve user interactions. Although my library is great overall, I still discovered that many people had difficulty figuring out where each section was when they first visited. Additionally, utilizing the library’s computers to find a book would provide general information but not how to find it specifically. I devised new signage in brighter colors and bolder text to help guide people, as well as a large navigation guide at the entrance of the library. Finally, I theorized that having specific shelf numbers as well as dividers in strategic places (between the CU and DA sections for example) would make it simple for patrons to find books.

SOLES 4 SOULS Adobe Illustrator and InDesign • 8.5”x 11” • 2014 For this class project, we were tasked with creating a charity newsletter mockup. I wanted to make the charity’s misson of shoes for people, aka Soles 4 Soles, look appealing while sill showing the program’s impact. For this, I chose bright yellow as well as a soothing blue.

BAREFOOT MAGAZINE Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign • 8.5”x 11” • 2014 For this project, I created a fictional outdoor magazine. I wanted to make it feel fresh and modern so as to appeal to people that often shop at REI and similar stores.

NOBEL PRIZE POSTER Adobe Illustrator • 17.25”x 11.25” • 2016 This poster is about Nobel Prize Winner, Rabindranath Tagore. I wanted to showcase elements of Indian designs and colors while still keeping the poster easy to read. This led to the orange and blue colors and background pattern.

BANK NOTES Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator • 2014 For this project, I was tasked with concepting three currency designs for a country of my choice. I chose Cote d’Ivoire in part because of the country’s culture and in part because of the beautiful orange and green of their flag. For the currency, I wanted to keep a similar feel as their flag, clean and modern, while still including complex shapes and patterns for security. I also kept similar colors as the flag, and added a cocoa bean to two of the bills, as cocoa is one of their major exports.

ULTIMATE CONVERTER Adobe Illustrator • 2014 For this project, my classmate Daniel Williams and I were tasked with designing an app. We wanted to design a unit conversion tool that was simple and easy to use, unlike the many we browsed through on the App Store. We first wireframed our design by hand, then uploaded our sketches to the Marvel mobile app for user testing. Once we were happy with the bare bones of the design, we finished work on the aesthetics.

PUC SPRING FESTIVAL Nikon D800 • 2015 This photo was one of many taken for PUC’s yearbook. For this photo, I wanted to show the fun of the Spring Festival and get a visually interesting angle.

PUC BASKETBALL GAME Nikon D800 • 2014 This was a particularly difficult shot to get, as many of the gym lights were turned off. Fortunately, everything worked out for the best as the dark background helped the players stand out.

PUC FASHION SHOW Nikon D800 • 2015 This was taken during the annual fashion show at Pacific Union College. The student designer responsible for these outfits picked “Alice in Wonderland” as her theme. I loved the way the guys modeling embodied Tweedledee and Tweedledum!

PUC SNOW MACHINE Nikon D800 • 2014 This photo was also taken for PUC’s yearbook. This photo shows students standing under a snow machine – the most snow the school got that year.

PUC CHRISTMAS TREE LIGHTING Nikon D800 • 2014 This is another photo from PUC’s Christmas Tree Lighting event. Here, some children of the school’s faculty are enjoying the candles. I particularly like the way the light falls on the kids’ faces and their expressions.
