KXCONNECT Alumni Magazine 2013-2014
ALEXIS JACKSON
Greetings Sorors,
I am so excited to reinstate our chapter magazine for the upcoming year. I want to thank you all for the hard work, commitment and support that you have paid forward to Kappa Chi over the years. A primary goal for our chapter this year is to improve alumni relations and communication. We believe that the Kappa Chi legacy extends far beyond ourselves, and we value the importance of our alumni staying updated and involved. In this newsletter, you will find information on current Kappa Chi members, programs and honors. Information is also included on how to stay connected to Kappa Chi. I hope that you all enjoy this letter and please join me in praying for our chapter as we dedicate ourselves to sisterhood and service to all mankind. Sisterly, Soror Alexis Jackson Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. 2014 Kappa Chi President Fall 2012 Initiate

“All In, All Pink” is Kappa Chi’s annual breast cancer Awareness Event. This event was founded by Soror Ebony Craig, a Spring 2010 initiate of the Kappa Chi Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated. Soror Craig graduated from Auburn University in the Summer of 2012 with a degree in Biomedical Sciences with a Spanish minor. She is currently in her first year of pharmacy school at the Auburn University Harrison School of Pharmacy. As well, she works in the Office of the Vice President for University Outreach.
Soror Craig was motivated to create “All In, All Pink because cancer hits very close to home for her. Her maternal grandmother and her brother died of bre”ast cancer, her maternal aunt has survived breast cancer twice, and she has also had two other maternal aunts die of uterine and ovarian cancer. Soror Craig stated, “I wanted to reach out to college age students and encourage them to be self advocates, research their family history, and know that it can happen to anyone, any gender, at any age, whether it’s hereditary or not.”
This event has taken place on the Auburn University Green Space for the past three years. Kappa Chi collaborates with the Office of Vice President of University Outreach, the Office of Public Service, and Alpha Delta Pi Sorority to host this event. The event includes information about risks and prevention, live entertainment, and refreshments. We are so thankful and so proud of Soror Ebony Craig’s passion, contributions, and commitment to serving others.
