soulard local A TRIP TO THE farmers’ market
I prefer the farmers’ market to Whole Foods.
There is something satifsying about being able to chat with the farmers and developing a personal relationship with them.
Taking an 8 a.m. stroll throughout the whole market, I watch the farmers set up their stations and see who is selling what. It sure feels good to have beaten the rush.
I follow the kids outside.
Even the folding carts look cooler than shopping carts.
At Whole Foods shoppers mind their own businesses. I hear no talking, no interacting.
I end my day at the butcher shop at Soulard. “I see that you have some food left over, and I want to help you out. What can you give me for $20?
