As Spring and Summer are approaching, I realize I have not written a newsletter since the Fall but with good reason. All of us here at the Jersey Shore have had our share of hardships, struggles and delays as Superstorm Sandy barreled into our home towns. My husband and I were very fortunate and blessed to have weathered the storm with our home and studio undamaged. We and many of our clients continually try to help those around us by donating and fundraising. We hope you will all help support the Shore this Summer. It may be something as simple as buying a hotdog from the local boardwalk stand or purchasing your clothes at a local retail shop for that summer portrait by a local photographer. So what’s new with us? Well, our little sweetheart, Chloe, turned six, lost three teeth, and will be graduating Kindergarten in a few months. We have been enjoying watching her grow and feeling a bit misty eyed to see it all fly by so fast. Some days, I think it goes faster than others and feel like we all get too busy with running around that we forget to stop and appreciate the little things. I continually try to A sneak peak at our upcoming Baseball Game Day set out June 7 and 8. “be in the moment” when I’m with Chloe. Although, the moments of her adoring Justin Bieber I could live without but Michael and I love to see her smile all the time. We have added a few new things here at the Studio for the year. This Spring, I am excited to announce our new “Limited Edition” portraits. I love the creative side of bringing an idea to life and am designing several children’s sets each month. They will be only for a limited time and then be gone until next year. My thoughts behind this stem from a desire to capture the nostalgia of a fleeting childhood. Anyone can take a candid photo of a smiling child and put it on a soon to be forgotten CD, but that is not art. So with “Art” in Artigas, I will be creating and blending art and photography to fulfill my vision this year!

Spring Recipe—
Apple-Cinnamon Oatmeal Pancakes Ingredients:
• 2 tsp. wheat germ
1 • ¼ cup steel-cut oats • /³ tsp. cinnamon
• ¼ cup plus 2 tbsp. whole-grain pancake • ¼ cup grated apples mix • 1/³ cup skim milk
We recently had our 1st Annual Angel Portrait fundraiser to help raise funds for a local charity benefiting children with cancer. Here are some of the little cherubs that participated and will be voted on to be on the 1st Edition Calendar.
• 1 egg
• 2 tsp. canola oil
Directions: 1. In a medium bowl, combine the steel-cut oats and skim milk and let stand 5 minutes. Add grated apple and beat the egg. In a small bowl, mix together the wheat germ, cinnamon and the whole grain pancake mix. Slowly add dry ingredients to oat mixture. 2. In a medium skillet, heat the canola oil over medium heat. Add ¼ of the batter and cook, flipping once, until pancake is lightly browned on both sides; repeat.
Makes 4 small pancakes (2 servings). Serve with 1/³ cup nonfat Greek yogurt mixed with 1 tsp. brown sugar
