About myself... I am an energetic individual, with great focus and dedication, keen on expressing myself in a team. Supportive surroundings inspire me and there is nothing better than an encouraging mentor and peers. I value human relations and they influence my work on a daily basis. While I consider myself a curious and communicative spirit, I am at the same time subtle and patient. I believe my determination, multi-tasking abilities and punctuality quickly become noticeable.
Date of birth 23 / 01 / 1990 M.Arch (major: Urban Design) 2011-2013 B.Arch 2008-2011
During my studies, urban design got me interested because it embodies those spaces between buildings that all people can experience. Myriads of stories add to a sense of place and they evoke memories that are passed on for many generations. Through my work experience, I have kept an open mind and strived to learn as much as I can about the many fields that an urban designer comes across in the professional world. Landscape design has become something that fascinates me and has influenced my desire to bring nature into the urban realm. I am of the belief that a multi-disciplinary and holistic approach will help shape the cities we live in.
Degrees obtained from: Faculty of Architecture, University of Belgrade, Serbia
In the years to come, I would like to live up to the ideal of being a critical thinker, capable designer, positive team player and inspirational human being.

Mood images
Description The project’s major constraint was the high groundwater table. In order to help control stormwater runoff and saltwater surfacing, a water sensitive design approach was considered and sustainable urban drainage solutions. Swales located between houses are meant to capture and direct water away from the community houses. The project also includes streetscape and community park designs, as well as the refurbishment of a community center landscape consisting of swimming pools, playgrounds and sports courts.

BANIYAS STREETSCAPE
Involvement Concept to Detail design, Tender documents Location / Year Abu Dhabi, UAE / 2014 - ongoing Area 11ha / 110,000 sqm Client / Main Consultant ADM (Abu Dhabi Municipality), Musanada / DIWI
Description Several design scope changes and the transition from one client to another over the course of three years made this project a unique challenge. The streetscape design includes 9km of road sides - a main boulevard, avenue medians and roundabouts. The boulevard stretches from a park to a mall and includes a two-way cycle track, pedestrian walkways and shared surfaces, planted buffers, street furniture and lighting. The design is a fine upgrade of the area. Being a government project, consistency with local guidelines such as the PRDM and USDM was essential.

Description The concept design comprises a holistic approach towards the project site and surroundings, creating a robust recreational offering (spa, natural trails, improved BBQ areas, water activities, educational activities, interactive playgrounds) and raising environmental awareness. The design emphasized on the natural desert heritage and visual and environmental amenities of the parkland. A botanical garden would be the first of it’s kind in the region.

AL JAZIRA MALL MEDIUM & SMALL SCALE PROJECTS
Involvement Concept to IFC, Estidama compliance
Description Located in an old neighborhood of Abu Dhabi, the biggest challenge was to coordinate the design with existing utilities. In close collaboration with the infrastructure team, locations for trees were found and appropriate materials were selected. Aiming for a 2 Pearl Estidama rating, importance was given to shaded pedestrian and cyclist routes, native plant species, low irrigation water consumption and locally sourced hardscape materials. After obtaining client’s approval on the design, the municipality was approached for particular discipline design approvals.

BUSINESS PARK
Involvement Site assessment, Concept design
Description Presented below is the refurbishment design developed for one out of six business parks in Dubai. With employees mainly gathering by the northern parking area, the park was devoid of daily activity. Transformation was fostered by creating an inviting new promenade. It starts with paving, is further aligned with slanted seat walls, then encircles an open lawn and finally culminates with a dry deck water feature. With plenty of shaded seating areas and dynamic surroundings, the once ‘‘backside’’ of the project site, is bound to become the new ‘‘frontside’’.

Description After several meetings with the client’s family, a design option including a swimming pool and water feature was selected. The spacious patio is paved with beige porcelain tiles and framed with dark banding matching the pool overflow edge tiling. A glass wall installed on one side of the pool allows one to look towards a sunken seating area. The design linearity is softened by a curved decking edge adjacent to planted areas. Fruits trees, including lemon, papaya, fig, mango and pomegranate, give the villa landscape a mixed tropical and mediterranean feel. Concept design sketch

Description Without a formal marketing team, the designers and management worked together on taking the company a step further. With a solid, but ten year old brand, taking another look at its image was inevitable. The recognizable green color of the brand remained while the logo was simplified. The selection of new fonts and design of collaterals took on a fresh new look and feel. The new profile helps present the company in a variety of ways to a number of important clients in a contemporary manner. The website does that much as well.

Description As part of the company’s ongoing marketing efforts, magazine articles started to be published on a yearly basis.. Copywriting for some of ICON’s most prominent projects was a privilege. I also believe writing is about educating, not only designers and engineers, but non-professionals as well. It is about expressing innovative ideas and encouraging critical thinking.

Al Ain City Municipality (AAM) represented by its Urban Planning Division initiated a fine government proposal to accommodate recreational and heritage activities over part of Al Ain’s network of aflaj. In collaboration with AAM, particularly its Aflaj Section, ICON has developed a concept design for Aflaj Park. Eng. Laila Al Rashedi, AAM’s project manager stated that the conservation and interpretation of Al Ain’s ancient historical sites and landscapes is a fundamental part of Al Ain City Municipality strategy and its efforts in managing the City Image. The Aflaj Park project is presented as part of these efforts and in line with the recommendations of Al Ain’s City Image Management Strategy (Roberts Day, Australia, July 2010).
Currently the site is occupied by random settlement of ezab that form a real challenge to the development of the site. Ezab are small, temporary livestock farms that, for many Emirati’s, are a key link with their Bedouin heritage. The plan for the park requires that these farms be relocated, most of them only a kilometer or so further to the east. The site will then be fenced off and access will be controlled, allowing for proper protection of sensitive areas that have been extensively degraded by misuse, poor control of litter and dumping of building waste. The main objectives were to preserve the existing aflaj and introduce it to the community and tourists in an educational and entertaining context. Knowledge

FUTURE PROJECTS 2017
Aflaj Park, Al Ain, United Arab Emirates, ICON Located in the eastern part of Al Ain City, UAE, Aflaj Park covers an area of 480ha. The area has special cultural and historical importance because of the existence of three ancient aflaj irrigation systems - Falaj Al Aini and Falaj Dawoodi, which are still active today, and Falaj Khalifa, which is inactive. A falaj is an underground channel that transports spring water from high elevations to lower areas of land intended for agriculture. Al Ain City Municipality, represented by its Urban Planning Department, appointed ICON to prepare a concept design proposal accommodating recreational, educational and heritage activities over a large part of Al Ain’s network of aflaj. The plan also required that existing ezab, scattered randomly on site, be relocated, but remain in close proximity. Ezab are small, temporary livestock farms permitted under licence from the municipality. One of the main design objectives was to preserve the existing aflaj and introduce them to the community and tourists in an educational and entertaining context.

SHORTLISTED 2017
SKBZNM Visitors Centre, Al Ain, United Arab Emirates, ICON i-con.ae/ ICON design team conducted a community survey and concluded that the preferred activities were focused on family and exercise, closely followed by preferences for education, entertainment and water features. Recreational activities are mostly provided in the form of trails for pedestrians and cyclists along the falaj lines. Trails proposed along the Al Aini Falaj form the main recreation and heritage area, with pocket parks and relocatable F&B points. The Al Dawoodi Falaj trails are proposed as recreational areas accommodating sports fields and high speed cycle tracks, while the Khalifa Falaj trails are proposed as the main education and heritage anchors, including a visitors centre, falaj garden, petting zoo and wadi park. The major highlight is the 15m deep canyon that takes everyone on a fantastic journey discovering Al Ain’s sources of life – water and oasis.

The Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Mosque (SKBZNM) is located in the city of Al Ain, UAE. Its adjoining Visitors Centre building is to be located in an area of archeological sites, below ground level, in consideration for the mosque’s architecture and its main views. At ground level, the building volume blends into the landscape and helps preserve the unity of the landscape concept. The material palette and general design approach aim to represent the archeological sites, history and tradition of place.
i-con.ae/ ramp visitors are taken on a journey to the local history showcased within archeological exhibition halls located below ground. A flexible architectural layout allows different scales and types of events to be hosted within the precinct expanding the use of the building from a visitors centre to a local cultural and event hub for the Al Ain community.
The project explores the expressive potential of architecture to enhance local identity in a design where architecture and archeology are blended together to represent Emirati culture and history in a contemporary manner by merging the past with the present and future. Islamic architecture symbols such as the courtyard, fountain and opaque walls with minimal openings are interpreted in a modern design giving continuity to traditional building techniques.
The city’s extreme climate made a sustainable design approach a particular challenge, addressed through carefully thought environmental studies. The building orientation and buried structure mitigate extreme temperatures and its mass design optimizes passive solar performance with minimized glazing. A landscaped roof reduces the building’s visual imprint on the landscape and provides further temperature stabilization and insulation, while a running water feature and mist system cool the air and make the outdoor patio a pleasant experience.
The structure is designed as an extension of the adjacent archeological sites and through a spiral-shaped
