SCHOOL’S OUT, Y’S IN!

READ, AND LEARN

GROW

with Y Readers, a YMCA Summer Camp extended learning program Learning doesn’t have to stop when summer break begins at the YMCA of Catawba Valley. Our Summer Camp is full of new and exciting ways for kids to stay engaged and to continue learning valuable skills while also having fun. A program new to 2016, the Y Readers program focuses on continuing your child’s literacy and reading level. Campers will read for a minimum of 30 minutes per day.

Y READERS PROGRAM

“The best part about this program for my family is that my child is so eager to learn and participate in activities outside the classroom. I hope that this program will continue to help other children like my son.” - YMCA Parent Studies show that a typical student loses nearly two reading levels during summer vacation. The Y Readers program ensures that your child will not backslide in their reading and also propel them ahead for the new school year. Through Y Readers, students not only improve their reading skills by two to three levels on average, but also participate in field trips and a variety of activities during camp which incorporate art, music, science and swimming.
