What Are the Benefits of Organic Baby Clothes?

When you wake in the morning and pull on a shirt, you don’t want to worry about whether or not it’s going to give you a rash. And unless you want the weight of the world on your shoulders (much heavier than the weight of your rayon-polyester blend), you might want to avoid textiles that necessitate the pollution of our land, water, and air through the use of chemical pesticides and fertilizers. If you’re interested not only in the health of the planet, but also the effect that your clothing might be having on your life (and your skin), opting for organic fabrics is an excellent way to flex your consumer muscles and make a change. Here are just a few reasons to embrace organic baby clothes (and let it embrace you).

1. No pollution. There are several ways that the production of textiles can have a negative impact on the Earth. It begins with the growing process. When plants like cotton are sown, chemical fertilizers are put in the soil to encourage growth while pesticides, insecticides, or herbicides are used to stop insects and weeds from inhibiting the

progress of the cash crop. Then there is the textile manufacturing process, and factories that spew even more pollution into the atmosphere. And of course, synthetic fabrics often require chemicals additives for production.

2. Allergy-free. You might be surprised by how many people suffer from fabric allergies. If you think that unsightly rashes are simply due to your “sensitive skin”, then perhaps you should consider just what chemicals may be included in your clothing. By switching to organic clothes baby, you are likely to enjoy a lot more comfort and a lot less allergies, since no chemicals are used in their production. And with fabrics like cotton, hemp, bamboo, and silk available, as well as a wide variety of options (due to increased demand), you can find all the pieces you need for a complete wardrobe. 3. Humane treatment of animals. You may not be aware that in addition to organic plant-based textiles, you can also find animal products that are environmentally friendly. You’ve likely heard of organic meats from the

supermarket. These items bear the organic label because the animals they come from are free of hormones and antibiotics, and they are generally free-range and humanely treated. Luckily, those who raise animals for this purpose strive to get as much use out of the animals as possible. This is why you can buy organic leather. But you can also expand your horizons to include humanely treated wool (sheep past their prime are kept in free-range pasture land instead of being slaughtered) and peace silk is harvested without killing the worms that create it. 4. Low-impact dyes. The nice thing about baby organic clothes is that vendors often strive to use eco-friendly practices throughout the manufacturing process. This not only includes factories that pollute less, but also the use of chemical-free dyes. While many people think you can’t get brilliant colours without chemicals, there are actually many plant-based dyes that offer a rainbow of hues. 5. Peace of mind. If you get nothing else out of buying organic baby clothes, you’ll at least benefit from the knowledge that you are taking steps to reduce your carbon footprint. And it doesn’t hurt that there are so many choices these days when it comes to beautiful and sophisticated clothing in an organic form.
