5 WELCOME TO MICHAELS AVE

It’s a big welcome back to Northern Rovers this weekend as a curiosity in the draw has meant we played back to back games, last week was an interesting game with two moments of real quality from Rovers making the difference, hopefully this week Northern remember their away strip and Ellerslie can score a goal, not necessarily in that order! But seriously it’s good to test ourselves against the best team in the Women’s NRFL Premier League, so Ryan and his team will be fired up for this game and look to reach the quarter-finals with a bit of an upset win! Away from Michaels Ave this week has all been about the All Whites playoff game, and while the result didn’t go our way it’s exciting to have a team full of potential and I can’t wait to see them back in NZ for the first time in ages. Lastly just a reminder that parking onsite is restricted on match days due to the building site, so please allow extra time for finding a park, and ultilise local street parking (safely) where you can.

Cheers Tim Adams CHAIRMAN - ELLERSLIE AFC

TWEET OF THE WEEK

Bit of a controversial tweet this week - obviously on Wednesday morning we saw the All Whites lose in their inter-continental playoff, but the post match from Danny Hay seems to be making it all about the officials. At what point to NZF (you know his employer) step in and say, hey hold on let’s not unilaterally blast the referee? If all of us playing football week in week out in NZ are told to respect referees, regardless if they are right or wrong as it’s a tough job then surely this should be the desired behaviour from the top? Or are the stakes so high that it’s ok to blast a guy doing his job? People can make their own mind up about that!
