URBAN REVITILIZATION This was a group project that focused on the redevelopment of South Salt Lake. What was once a prospering section of SLC is now a collection of run down, industrial buildings in need of help. This was a collaborative effort with the interior design depart at USU. As a group, we approached this project with a focus on sustainability and feasibility to create realistic limitations for ourselves. By creating a phasing plan that involved retrofitting buildings and developing a green infrastructure, this design would be the revitalization South Salt Lakes needs.

CONSTRUCTION DOCUMENTS This project was based on the re-design of a performance hall’s courtyard located on Utah State’s campus. It took me through the whole design process from concept development to the final product, Construction Documents. The details within this layout are custom to the site and if implemented, would function properly. The importance of a welldrawn detail is essential to the design to build process. The design includes a seat wall that flows with the sites characteristics and corten steel drainage grates that add an artistic touch to a normally ordinary fix.

RESIDENTIAL DESIGN/BUILD I had the opportunity to intern with Blanchford Landscape Group in Bozeman, Montana the summer heading into my senior year at USU. The majority of their projects are the installation of high-end residential designs on homes located in the Yellowstone Club, Spanish Peaks and Big Sky resort. This Design/ Build Project was an exciting hands on experience that gave me confidence in my ability to understand the process in constructing landscapes. Working alongside a professional landscape contractor, we met with the client, drafted a design and then completed the build all within a couple of months.

RECREATION DEVELOPMENT
WEST LOGAN PARK
The property designated for West Logan Park is located just West of Logan, Utah near a growing and prosperous suburb. One challenge of this project was creating recreational spaces that incorporated activities for all age groups. The Logan River follows along the South side of the future parks property, adding wetlands that wildlife flock to. This design’s main focus was preserving on-site wetlands while providing multi-use spaces for recreation. This park includes a frisbee golf course, outdoor sports fields, and a wetland observatory, among many other amenities.

CAMPUS PLANNING
UTAH STATE UNIVERSITY
This campus-planning project was a group collaboration focused on a parcel of property owned by Utah State University. It was designated for a mixeduse development. As a group, our main goal was to address current student housing for married couples with small families. The design includes a commercial plaza acting as a transportation stop. A narrow, slow speed vehicle alley known as a “Woonerf.� Is incorporated into the site along with adequate parking for the residents of this development.

STUDENT HOUSING & WOONERF CONNECTION This was an individual extension for the previous Campus Planning group project.

Mixed-Use Connections It was important when creating perspectives for this project, to create views that would show the sites functionality.
Entrances & Circulation This is a mixeduse development that incorporates student housing, plaza spaces and commercial buildings, the site was based heavily on circulation because of the amount of foot traffic from students.

DESIGN COMPETITION
Kent Concert Hall Courtyard
Utah State University created this design competition for students on campus to have a chance at leaving a design of their own, for students and others to use in the future. The overall focus of this design was sustainability and how to re-use materials from the original landscape that had been removed. All this while creating a comfortable environment that functioned well as a transition space. By using sunshade analysis (diagrams to the right) for several times of the year, we located optimum areas for seating where vegetation should be placed. The re-use of brick from the original design and the use of retention basins to capture storm water are just two sustainable features implemented.
