3rd Place Decorated CHRISTMAS FROSTED CHERRY COOKIES

Christmas Frosted Cherry Cookies

1 Pillsbury Moist Supreme White Premium Cake Mix
½ cup sour cream
3 tablespoons cherry juice
¼ teaspoon almond extract
1 egg
½ cup finely chopped maraschino cherries

Combine cake mix, sour cream, cherry juice, almond extract and egg. Stir in chopped cherries. Using small ice cream scoop or teaspoon, drop dough balls

2 inches apart onto ungreased cookie sheet. Bake at 350 degrees for 8 to 12 minutes until edges are light golden brown. Cool for 1 minute. Remove from cookie sheet and frost with Frosting. Top with half of a maraschino cherry.

Frosting

2½ cups confectioners sugar
¼ cup butter
1 tablespoon cherry juice
2 to 3 tablespoons half-and-half or milk

Mix ingredients and frost cookies.

Judge’s Comment:

These were moist and chewy, and the cherry completed the cookie.
