Whether we’re in the market to build, renovate, decorate or even reinvigorate our home and gardens, we’re in luck when it comes to expos, shows and festivals, including these events planned for the months ahead.

NZ GIFT & HOMEWARE FAIRS

From August 28-30, Auckland Showgrounds, Green Lane West, Epsom Rather than concentrate on the homes we live in, these seasonal fairs put interior design to the fore. While the next event shines a spotlight on spring, these fairs are held seasonally, so there may well be more than one to attend in Auckland over the coming year. THE AUCKLAND HOME SHOW

September 7-11, Auckland Showgrounds, 217 Green Lane West, Epsom Including inner-city apartment dwellers, suburbanites and farmers and growers, Auckland’s inhabitants are a most diverse bunch when it comes to the places we live and the lifestyles we enjoy. With everything from seminars to product displays, new technology to age-old professions, The Auckland Home Show sees Aucklanders converge during this marquee event. MOTORHOME, CARAVAN & LEISURE SHOW

September 23-25, Mystery Creek Events Centre, Ohaupo, Waikato Whether we travel by plane (a very short jaunt!), trains or automobiles, it’s a safe bet that those set on attending this expo are most familiar with the attraction of the open road. Intended for Kiwis who’d prefer to not let the grass grow under their feet, the Motorhome, Caravan & Leisure Show also features much that will likely appeal to home bodies too. WAIKATO HOME & GARDEN SHOW

October 6-9, from 10am, Claudelands Events Centre, Cnr Brooklyn Rd and Heaphy Tce, Hamilton Some events may be closer to home, but the Waikato Home & Garden Show is one that’s well worth taking to the road to experience. While many of its smaller exhibitors may ply their trade across the Waikato only, this event attracts professionals with nationwide coverage, and inspiration is (of course!) universal. October 29-30, 10am-4pm, PIA Centre, 59 Ward St, Pukekohe Part home show, part community celebration, this annual event doesn’t just feature a wide range of local businesses involved in the building, design and renovation game, it’s as much about how we live as it is about the homes we call our own. The Auckland Garden DesignFest is intended to impress. Those who require landscaping services, and only the best will do, will soon see why our city’s most fashionable addresses often feature. November 5-6, locations vary, Waiheke Island Showcasing island life right on Auckland’s doorstep, this event provides the perfect opportunity to get away from it all without straying too far from home. Focused on what makes the Kiwi backyard so loved, this festival attracts those keen to glean a few ideas, whether they be budding gardeners or green fingered veterans. GO GREEN EXPO

November 12-13, from 10am, Auckland Showgrounds, Green Lane West, Epsom Many Aucklanders are familiar with the concept of ‘green means go’, but when stuck in a line of traffic, green can mean ‘maybe next time’! A home and lifestyle show dedicated to sustainable living, whether we live in town or country, Go Green has gone from strength to strength over the years, building on a growing desire to live in harmony with our environment. THE AUCKLAND SOUTH HOME SHOW

June 23-25, Vodafone Events Centre, Great South Road, Manukau Where eastern and southern Auckland intersect, the Vodafone Events Centre is a hub for suburban and semi-rural Auckland.
