MAKING CONNECTIONS

A popular housing trend these days is of multigenerational homes that co-house two to three families with two fully independent kitchens and living areas, said Nigel McKenna, CEO and founder of Templeton Group about the recent shift that leans towards multiple incomes to service a mortgage.

At the evening to announce the building of a connecting road that will save up to 12 minutes off commute time from Flatbush by connecting Michael Bosher Way to Redoubt Road, guests were given a quick preview of the ecological improvement at Bremner RidgeTempleton, and the creation of amenities in an open space network.

“This section of new road, though short, was critical to unlocking the potential of the Bremner Ridge site,” said McKenna at the event attended by Howick Local Board members Adele White, John Spiller, Peter Young and David Collings, Takanini MP Dr Anae Leavasa and list MP Naisi Chen.

“Successful developments are based on location, access amenity and community. With this road now complete, Bremner Ridge offers all of these, which is why we’ve already been able to sell 93 percent of all lots,” he said. With the elevation tamed, Bremner Ridge now affords views across the city to Rangitoto, North Head, the Sky Tower and, in the distance, the Waitakere ranges.

The 350 million development of Bremner Ridge and the adjacent project, Fairburn represents over 500 lots in total in Flat Bush.

Talking about preserving the suburb’s heritage, McKenna explained, that once upon a time Major Daniel Bremmer who fought the Gallipoli Campaign and the Battle of Somme owned the cottage at the site. “However, a fire reduced the cottage to a mere chimney. Having contributed his life to peace and prosperity, what we enjoy today, we decided to name the area after him,” said McKenna.

“We will also restore the cottage that belonged to him which was burnt down due to a fire. It will serve as a community café. We faithfully replicate its iconic shape and preserving it as part of the suburb’s heritage,” said McKenna.
