When you are not feeling well, the last thing you want is to drive dozens of miles to a doctor’s offi ce. Fortunately, this is not the case at all in Ahwatukee. Asnewcomers to the area soon realize, you can fi nd just about any type of medical care that you need in Ahwatukee.
If you pulled a muscle in your back while moving into your new place and it is aft er usual business hours, Ahwatukee has urgent care facilities that will be happy to see you. For more serious medical cases, Ahwatukee also is home to an emergency room.
For general medical care, you can choose from a wide selection of primary care physicians, including M.D.’s and D.O.’s. Prefer an internist? You will fi nd plenty of those right here.
Time for your little pumpkin to get his or her shots and/or a checkup? Ahwatukee has a variety of pediatricians who can treat your little ones.
For well-woman checks or if you are expecting a baby, there are a number of OB/GYNs. When it’s time for the yearly mammogram, you only need to make a short drive to an imaging center.
If you need a teeth cleaning, you won’t have to drive far to fi nd a dentist who can polish and shine those pearly whites. And if your teen’s chompers are getting a bit crooked, Ahwatukee is also home to orthodontists.
Th e sun can be hard on the skin; fortunately, scheduling those important skin checks is easy, thanks to the many dermatologists who practice right here. And if any of the plants make you sneeze, you will fi nd allergists to assist.
For those who need help with their mental health, Ahwatukee has a number of psychologists and psychiatrists. To keep your peepers in tiptop shape, schedule a checkup with a local optometrist or ophthalmologist. And if you are experiencing bad headaches or other issues, local neurologists will be able to treat you.

Sarah Neumann, P.A., has been passionate about dermatology since encountering her own skin issues in her teens and after being an undergrad exchange student in Central America.
“That’s when I saw many skin care conditions and discovered my true love for treating the whole patient — and not just a symptom,” she said.
This year, the dermatology practice that Neumann founded, Ahwatukee Skin & Laser (ASL), celebrates its 11th anniversary.
Since its inception, ASL has been consistently recognized as “Best of” in local polls. With a team of Mohs and dermatologic surgeons and estheticians, the full-service practice provides general and cosmetic dermatology services to patients of all ages. In 2021, ASL welcomed Dr. Ifty Ahmed, one of the top specialists in the nation in the diagnosis and treatment of complex dermatologic cases.
A Wisconsin native, Neumann has brought her down-to-earth Midwestern values to ASL with individualized patient care being the No. 1 priority for all staff members. Through its state-of-the-art skin cancer surveillance exams and other services, its focus is on building relationships and providing the highest-quality health care with a personal touch.
The practice’s commitment to its patients extended throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. By following enhanced safety measures per the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, it remained open to serve those needing medical attention and convenient telehealth appointments were implemented. Recently it reinstated its popular urgent care program, and same-day appointments are now offered based on availability.
When Neumann is not working with patients, she can be found riding her motorcycle and enjoying the wonders of Arizona.

Dr. Ifty Ahmed
DERMATOLOGY
Dr. Ifty Ahmed is a board-certified Dermatologist, Dermatopathologist and Anatomic Pathologist with over 30 years of experience in the diagnosis and treatment of complex dermatologic conditions. Dr. Ahmed completed his training at the University of Utah (Internship and Anatomic Pathology residency) and at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota (Dermatology residency). At the Mayo Clinic, Dr. Ahmed was an Academic Professor of Dermatology, Senior Consultant in Dermatology, Director of Dermatopathology and Co-Director of the Dermatopathology fellowship program. He has served on the editorial boards of the Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology, Dermatologic Surgery and International Journal of Dermatology and continues to serve on the editorial panel of the American Journal of Dermatopathology. Dr. Ahmed is the recipient of several practice and teaching awards and has over 100 published abstracts and manuscripts to his credit. He enjoys his free time travelling, fly fishing, skiing and helping his humanitarian foundation.

Lauren Ax is board certified by the National Commission for the Certification of Physician Assistants and licensed by the Arizona Board of Medicine. She grew up in Mesa and Gilbert Arizona and graduated magna cum laude with her Bachelor of Science from Barrett the Honors College at Arizona State University in 2016. She received her Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies from King’s College in 2018. Honoraries include Alpha Epsilon Lambda and Phi Theta Kappa national honors societies. Prior to joining Ahwatukee Skin and Laser, Lauren practiced dermatology in Pennsylvania where she trained in general, surgical, cosmetic and pediatric dermatology. Lauren has a passion for dermatology and providing quality care to her patients. She has authored over 20 articles for the Clinical Advisor medical journal and is an active member of the Society of Dermatology for Physician Assistants and a member of the American Academy of Dermatology Care team.

Sarah Neumann, a practicing dermatology PA since 2001, is the award-winning founder of Ahwatukee Skin & Laser and Sun City Dermatology in Sun City West. Sarah grew up in Wisconsin where she received her Registered Dieticians (RD) license after completing her undergraduate degree in Community and Medical Dietetics and Psychology. She discovered her passion for all diseases of the hair, skin, and nails, after completing a medical mission in Central America. After returning to the states, she received her Master of Medical Science degree in Physician Assistant Studies from Midwestern University. Her interest in skin care initially began when she was a teenage battling severe acne. This personal experience led her to create a full service general, surgical and cosmetic dermatology practice based on compassion and a commitment to providing quality patient care. Sarah and Ahwatukee Skin & Laser have been consistently ranked “Best of” in local polls since 2010.

Dr. Amy Nordquist grew up in the heart of Ahwatukee right across the street from Desert Vista High School. She attended Xavier College Preparatory for high school before heading down to Tucson to obtain her undergraduate degree in Psychology at the University of Arizona. While at the U of A she cherished her time with her Chi Omega sorority sisters who supported her personal growth and drive to become a dentist. Dr. Nordquist received her Doctorate of Dental Surgery from Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska in 2012. It was the one and only time she ever lived outside of AZ, and could not wait to get back to the sunshine after graduation! Dr. Nordquist is proud of the education she received from Creighton, where she graduated with many awards for her incredible dental skills. Dr. Nordquist is a proud member of the American Dental Association, Arizona Dental Association, and Central Arizona Dental Association. She truly is a life-long learner, spending many hours each year at continuing education courses to continue to polish her dental skills and stay up to date on the evolution of the dental field. When not practicing dentistry, Dr. Nordquist loves to spend her time with her husband, Matt, and their two sons, Benjamin and Jackson. They love living close to her parents and brother and sister’s families so they can get together for Sunday family dinner each week. With all 7 grandkids under the age of 6, the gatherings get pretty crazy! She is especially grateful for the time they get to spend each year with her in-laws in Kalamazoo, MI. Another big group, as her husband is one of 9 siblings! Needless to say, family is one of the most important things to Dr. Nordquist.

Dr. JoAnne Curry is a Chicago native and a graduate of the University of Iowa College of Dentistry. My 25 plus years in dentistry has been a pleasure. My dental career started by serving and living in Tuba City, Arizona- Public Health. I enjoy owning my private practice Crescent Dental Care, Inc. I am active within the community and Foundation Board Member. When I am not taking care of my patients, I have an active life with my family in the valley of the sun Arizona. I love traveling and educating myself in different cultures and local cuisine when traveling. I also enjoy cooking, watching movies, dancing and DYI projects.

Dr. Harveer Kaur DDS BDS is the owner dentist at Kokopelli Family and Cosmetic Dentistry in the Ahwatukee Foothills. She acquired the struggling practice in 2017 and quickly turned it around. Dr. Kaur is board certifi ed with American Dental Association and has 14 years of dental experience in India and the United States. Dr. Kaur is a graduate of the prestigious Loma Linda university in California. Her team at Kokopelli is known in the community for their high quality work and great sense of humor. She is affectionately known by her patients as the “funtist.” In her free time, Dr. Kaur loves to work on arts and crafts projects with her four year old.

Dr. Rowley is certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery, and is a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons as well as the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery. Attending continuing medical education courses and aesthetic meetings to provide his patients with the highest quality of care. He has been practicing in Ahwatukee for the past 20 years, and is committed to providing patients with a pleasant and rewarding experience. Dr. Thompson is the Clinical Director of Pritchette Physical Therapy’s 2nd location in Ahwatukee Foothills. Dr. Thompson is a native Arizonan who grew up playing basketball and soccer. She has always had a deep respect for the human body and its ability to heal from injury, and she knew from an early age that she wanted to be a Physical Therapist. Sarah fulfilled this dream when she graduated with her Doctorate in Physical Therapy from A.T. Still University in 2012. Her passion for learning has never stopped and she achieved her Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) certification and is a Board Certified Orthopedic Clinic Specialist. She has been practicing in an outpatient orthopedic setting since 2012 and genuinely enjoys helping people feel better and move better.

Dr. Pritchette earned his B.S. in Athletic Training from Northeastern University in 2000 and went on to earn his Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from A.T. Still University in 2003. Dr. Pritchette has specialized in orthopedic and sport therapy his entire career, and during that time he has developed exceptional manual therapy skills, treatment techniques, and protocols that have helped thousands of patients and athletes return to a level that was equal to or greater than their prior level of function. Also, during his nearly 20 year career his dedication to his patients well-being has remained his primary focus and this is what has allowed him to develop such a successful practice with a loyal and trusting patient population.
